Collecting The English Booster Box "Pull Rates" Thread

You get 1-2 regular EX cards and 1 full art EX card (rarely 2); also, you can get the same Pokemon as a regular and a full art in the same box, so it's probably a bit higher than that.

At the same time, you can get a total of 4 EXes in a box (and the exact chance of this happening is unknown), which would relower it somewhat as well. 1/2 is a pretty fair real world estimate (even if the actual probability would come out to 1/2.20913 or something)

RE: The "Pull Rates" Thread

What are the pull rates for Dark Patch and Dark Claw? I've bought around 20 DE packs and I've only pulled 1 Dark Claw.

I got 6 Claws and 5 Patches in my booster box (1 RH of each, the rest regular). The lowest amount of any single T/S/S that I got in my box was 3 (Juniper) and the most was 7 (Receiver).

I get the feeling that I pulled more T/S/S in this box than usual, but I think that's just because this is the most T/S/S (12) we've had in a single set since Black and White (13). ND, NV, and EP both had a significantly lower number (6, 7, and 7, respectively).

Just anecdotal information, though. I don't think it actually changes the numbers much, if at all.

RE: The "Pull Rates" Thread

The EX pull rates are horrible! In the Japanese boxes, we pay 50$ for 20 packs... we can get 2 EX's and one Full art/shiny (or no full arts or shinies if you're really unlucky)

Yet we pay double the amount for the English set and get nearly the same ratio... I think it would be nice to get at least 4 normal EX's and 1 full art from a box. I mean you'd probably have to buy 5-6 boxes just to complete the set. It's absurd. I think I'm done buying English boxes for new sets. Might start saving for older sets since it's hard to find actual mint conditions for certain cards. *chokes on trying find a mint Lugia ex from sellers who keep lying about mint condition cards*

RE: The "Pull Rates" Thread

Better than buying straight packs. MSRP for packs nowadays is 4.00, so you'd be paying close to 140$ for the equivalent of a booster box, and that's before tax. Singles are always the better bet though.

One of the best boxes ever. Only way it could've been better is if you had a Tornadus ex instead of the Entei ex and also pulled a gold Catcher :p

RE: The "Pull Rates" Thread

I traded the entei ex for 3 champion of the parish (magic tcg) lol but raikou ex would have been the preferred non darkrai ex. Made up for my next destinies box (2 Gigas- 1 fa, and a zekrom ex)

I think that the English sets should mimic the japanese sets more closely. Get rid of RH cards as almost no one cares about them, get rid of non-holo rares (replaced with Uncommon), and make the card packs contain 5 cards with a possible rare.

RE: The "Pull Rates" Thread

I have more Magic 2012 boosters than any other magic set of the past year.

I have more Generation Force boosters than any other yugioh set of the past year

So I was thinking, since both those sets are released Summer of 2011, why not make it so that I have more Emerging Powers boosters than any other Pokemon set of the past year. Because of that, I bought the Zekrom box. Ok fine, I only bought it for the Zekrom figure, but since the addition of the 4 emerging Powers boosters, I have more Emerging Powers boosters than any other pokemon set, but this isn't what it is all about.

I cracked the 4 boosters, and I got 6 cards that are rare or higher.

I pulled a Whimsicott, a Mandibuzz, a Terrakion holo, and a Reverse Leavanny, but this isn't what was wierd.

One of the boosters had a reverse holo Tornadus, AND a Full Art Tornadus. I am a pokemon White fan, which is why I wanted the Zekrom Figure, and anything to do with Zekrom, so as a result, I wanted Thunderus more than Tornadus, but it didn't matter, but anyway, I said, "Why didn't I get a Thunderus", and boom, rain came pouring down, and lightning strikes, for real, no seriously, there is a thunderstorm outside as I am typing this, but just I am already happy I got double tornadus inside one pack.

RE: The "Pull Rates" Thread

Hi Everyone,
I was just wondering, should I buy booster packs of Next Destinies or Dark Explorers? Theb, should I buy the 10 booster packs from a booster box at a card store or 10 booster packs at walmart? which might have better pull rates? it really means a lot to me if you post what you think before the week ends! thank you so much!

By the way, as I had a curiosity to the Japanese Booster Box pull rates, and here are the experimental probabilities (percents) I got-
Probabilities for the pull rates in Booster boxes
Just 2 regular EXs-1 out of every 10 booster boxes
Just 3 regular EXs-2 out of every 10 booster boxes
1 EX and 1 Full art-3 out of every 10 booster boxes
2 EXs and 1 Full art-3 out of every 10 booster boxes
2 EXs and 1 Shiny-1 out of every 10 booster boxes
10% to get a shiny, 60% to get a Full art, 100% to get an EX

RE: The "Pull Rates" Thread

If they're a good shop, the pull rates will be the same as walmart, but you should be able to get almost twice as many packs from the shop vs walmart

Thats not always true. My local shop only sells boosters for 17 cents less than the Walmarts around here... its a fairly newer shop only a year old or so.. so Im guessing the owner is trying to stay afloat by charging MSRP. Now if its an established shop then perhaps maybe they might offer cheaper prices, but I mainly buy online because you can always find awesome prices that beat most shops as well.

RE: The "Pull Rates" Thread

I get packs for half the price online never buy packs in a shop. Unless you have cash but i never use cash to buy cards so its fine for me

RE: The "Pull Rates" Thread

Thanks everyone!
However, as online goes, I am a bit queasy on their authenticity... I mean, is it 100% sure that TrollandToad does not give you weighed packs, considering their booster packs so cheap? Thanks again!

Well, I have bought over 20 loose packs online from TnT and I have *never* received an Ultra Rare from them. However, I don't think that's a large enough sample to judge. I had some awful luck at my first few Prereleases as well. :p

RE: The "Pull Rates" Thread

Yeah, you'd need a pretty large sample to judge. It's a bit easier to figure out pull rates with boxes since they're sealed, but with loose packs you're dealing with probability only. At what point do you stop assuming that a string of bad pulls is just bad luck and that TnT weighs packs? On the other hand, how many holos/URs/etc. do you need to pull to decide they're definitely legit? It's a fine line to walk. And even if TnT as a whole doesn't weigh packs, there's always the chance that some dishonest employees might.

Personally, why I don't buy loose packs from anywhere anymore for the most part, I'd treat TnT with the same level of skepticism that I do any retailer, brick-and-mortar or online, that sells loose packs.

I bought 24 ND 2 pack blisters from T&T and only pulled 2 FA Kyurem EX. However, with DE I bought 24 2 pack blisters (They mispriced them at first so I got a really good deal at 2.99 a pop) and pulled 6 URs (Darkrai REG, Entei+FA, Kyogre+FA and Groudon REG). So I dont believe T&T weighs their packs BUT it is possible since Im sure with an accurate enough scale you can weigh anything and find out which UR cards weigh what... but its highly unlikely.

If youre going to buy packs online anywhere- buy blisters (The packs that are sealed for retail sale at places like Walmart and Target). Blisters have much more weight variation than regular standalone loose packs since they have a cardboard backing and hard plastic sealing the pack in.
