Unfortunately... not really. Unless you want to splash one of the colours in an existing deck (ie: White Weenie with Black, although that defeats the purpose of White Weenie itself), which I don't recommend.

Also, let's welcome Pokechamp to the group!

EDIT: And, I bought Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012 through the PlayStation Store today.

I played the trial on the Xbox 360, the gameplay was slow, due mainly to the incessant pop-ups telling me exactly what I should do. It was also boring, which was caused by the tutorials, too.

Of course, in the full version you can turn those tutorials off, choose harder difficulties, etc.

That's too bad. I guess I'll find something else. Green maybe. Hmm.

New question for everyone!

In M12 Standard what do you think will be the strongest Planeswalker, or strongest Planeswalkers?

Garruk and Sorin look very nice. Gideon as well.

Combine Garruk with Grave Titan for mass token swarm!

Sorin could work well in a few of decks, maybe pair him with Chandra in a burn deck?

Gideon....White Weenies for sure.

Sorin isn't that great, due to his triple black and high mana cost. Triple green hurts Garruk, although he's still pretty good. I think Gideon is still the best Planeswalker now that Jace 2.0 is gone. The only one's who comes close are Jace Beleren, who's rotating and Garruk 2.0, who's very narrow.

There are a couple things that make Gideon awesome:

1) He single handedly stops aggro in it's tracks for several turns, allowing you to stabalize and eventually, win.
2) He single handedly beats control, becoming a 6/6 every turn. If they don't counter him or get a Grave Titan out, they probably lose.

Yeah, that's kind of all you need.

Thanks for the welcome nabby, hopefully I can be of use to your team.

On the subject of M12 Standard, Gideon without a doubt is going to be the best thing there is. I don't think there's anything you can cast on turn five that gives you as much control of the game as Gideon is. The moment he comes into play, he can potentially shoot up to eight loyalty, which nearly guarantees he'll be sticking around for a while. Forcing your opponent's creatures to attack can be devastating, especially for decks that operate with cheaper creatures, in particular, Red can have a difficult time defeating Gideon. He can destroy any tapped creature that isn't protected or indestructible, which is a subtle but efficient ability. And his ultimate ability, for 0 loyalty, turns him into a 6/6. That's every turn. Combined with his huge loyalty, he causes problems for your opponent if he doesn't have a response to him.

White-Blue will probably be packing Venser, the Sojourner. His first ability is hilarious. You can do so much with it. A cool trick is to exile a tapped land, then have it return untapped during your end phase. That gives you an extra mana to spend on something cool, maybe Steel Sabotage (which becomes a heck of a lot more relevant in M12, trust me), Mental Misstep (which defines the extended and legacy formats, but also does a lot in standard) or even Apostle's Blessing can do cool things. Also, let us not forget the new Stonehorn Dignitary. Exile one of those with Venser, and you can potentially lock your opponent and keep them from entering their combat phase for the rest of the game. His second ability makes your creatures unblockable. That can end a game by itself. His ultimate is amazing, basically turns every spell you play into an Oblivion Ring that can be destroyed later on in the game.

Not really in the same league as the last two, but I have high hopes for a deck-out strategy involving Jace, Memory Adept. All of his abilities reduce your opponent's cards in deck. Activate his second ability enough times and you will deck your opponent just with him. And I don't he's broken in anyway like his last incarnation, but I think he's severely underrated and I think he warrants a little respect.

Memory Adept is a great card. If Innistrad has Unearth or Dredge, or something of that sort, Jace will be ridiculous. If Modern becomes a big format, Dredge with Jace could be awesome. Venser is fun, but I've tried making Stonehorn Dignitary work. It's great on paper, but if the Rhino eats a removal spell or Venser dies, you're lock is toast. There definitely is a viable list, but it's Tier 2 at best.

While undeniably it's got nothing on good removal, the combo was employed recently by Olivier Ruel in a Bant-colored "Birthing Pod" strategy at the 2011 National Championships, taking him straight to the top eight. It's not an unbeatable lock, but it can definitely prove a potent stall. Stonehorn Dignitary gives you sanctuary for at least a single turn, and if it's not answered by then, it's worth extra turns as well. I think it's an incredibly solid card.

It wasn't the main focus of the deck, although you make a good point. Also, if it cost 2W, I think it would be broken.

Another topic: Do any of you guys have a cube? I just finished mine, although since I'm on a budget, I decided to use only commons and uncommons. The total cost comes to about $80.

I do not personally own my own cube, but I do have a friend whose cube consists of all commons and has a wide range of cards from the Zendikar block. It's a pauper cube, I don't know all the cards in it but it's a blast to draft. The last time we drafted, these were some of the cards I remember seeing:

Searing Blaze
Distortion Strike
Arbor Elf
Nest Invader
Aura Gnarlid
Halimar Depthes
Kiln Fiend
Hyena Umbra
Overgrown Battlement
Vines of Vastwood
Raid Bombardment
Growth Spasm
Soul's Attendant
Flame Slash
Wind Zendikon
Spell Pierce
Goblin Bushwacker
Ondu Cleric
Steppe Lynx
Plated Geopede
Staggershock
Into the Roil
Spreading Seas
Disfigure
Venerated Teacher
And tons more.

Cool. Yeah, I was originially going to go the pauper route, but then I saw all the extra Vampire Nigthawks and Gatekeeper of Malakir's in my binder. :p Also, I wanted a decent land base, and there are no dual lands at common, so I got the Ravnica bounce lands and Zendikar duals.

Anyway, my cube consists only of cards legal for the modern format (Eight Edition-on, with the banlist). The whole thing cost about $100 (360 cards).

That also sounds really good. My friend is also going to expand the horizon of his cube to uncommon, that will give it a little bit more edge to it (there only so many things you can draft with just commons if you know what I'm saying).

Yeah, commons are a bit restrictive.

FTV: Legends has been revealed - it looks awesome.

I'm not a big fan of "From the Vault", as they're typically out of my price range. For those who didn't know this, the card artwork featured is that of Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir.

I`m not a big fan either, but I still love seeing the foily cards. The new Innistrad card is pretty cool. The new artwork on some of the cards is nice, and this feels like it`s a neat follow-up to the Commander product.

Hall of Fame induction is happening soon - do you guys follow that? I hope Chapin gets in, he's a genius.

Also, I've been testing my Tempered Steel deck all day on Magic Online, in the tournament practice area. Man, it is ridiculous. 6-0, in matches. It owns Valakut and Mono-Green, although it has difficulties with Bant Birthing Pod, as they play Viridian Corrupter and Acidic Slime, and often board in extras. U/B Control isn't too bad, although they often counter Tempered Steel, and if they get Grave Titan out, it's pretty much over, unless you have a bunch of fliers. Caw-Blade isn't much of a problem now, without Stoneforge Mystic to tutor for Batterskull. Sword of War and Peace is annoying, but I just board in Divine Offering and/or Revoke Existence. I haven't played the mirror yet, although obviously it's a coin flip.

Wow, nabby. 6-0 is a certainly an impressive record. You must have a great Tempered Steel list.

Tempered Steel is probably the most aggressive deck out there now in the Standard format. From the first turn of the game it starts dropping things like Glint Hawk into play, which if unanswered these threats will go on to win the game. Steel Overseer T2 is amazing considering all the free artifacts like Memnite and Ornithopter. T3 Tempered Steel turns your artifacts into beasts, and from that point, if your opponent doesn't have an answer to Tempered Steel, it's going to be a rough ride for them.

Yeah. Actually, the list I'm running has no Steel Overseer or Ornithopter, since they rotate out in a month, and I didn't see any point in buying them (I bought the deck about a month ago). I also streamlined the deck by taking out the Hero of Bladehold's and Elspeth Tirel's so it's crazy fast. Here's the list, after testing.

4x Memnite
4x Signal Pest
4x Glint Hawk
4x Vault Skirge
4x Porcelain Legionnaire
4x Etched Champion

4x Origin Spellbomb
4x Dispatch
4x Glint Hawk Idol
4x Tempered Steel

2x Contested War Zone
18x Plains

The only problems I had was I found that I was boarding out the Origin Spellbomb almost all the time, only leaving it in against U/B Control and the occasional Caw-Blade. It slows down the deck too much, and I really don't need the card draw. I don't know what to replace it with - maybe I'll put the Hero of Bladehold's back in, although that would still leave me with two empty spots.

EDIT: Sudden stroke of inspiration! Phyrexian Revoker! Don't know why I didn't think of him before... 2 Revoker and 2 Hero's can replace the Spellbombs.

I was one of the first people to use Tempered Steel (I used it mostly during the era of Epic Caw-Blade, but I started with the advent of Scars), my friends laughed when I stocked up on 10 of them.

They aren't laughing anymore...
Does anyone need any Tempered Steels? I have some to spare...
I am willing to trade them somehow... (Suggest something)

I have reverted to only playing commander, so I am downsizing...

My List: (It was pre-New Phyrexia)

4x Memnite
4x Signal Pest
4x Necropede
4x Ornithopter
2x Phyrexian Revoker
3x Gold Myr
4x Ichorclaw Myr
Creatures: 25

4x Tempered Steel
2x Silence
3x Origin Spellbomb
3x Glint Hawk Idol
2x Mox Opal
Spells: 16

(No Contested War Zone here.)
4x Inkmoth Nexus
15x Plains
Lands: 19

I haven't played for a while, but the deck went pretty well, it had this hilarious tendency to explode, killing someone turn 2 or 3, or fizzling and dying early on...

Hopefully this decklist will give you some ideas?

First off, you're welcome to join, but please PM me a form before posting again. Besides that, the list is interesting.

I'd run a pair of Moxes, but at $20 each, they're about the same cost as the rest of the deck. Nexus, as well, I would run over the War Zones, but they're $10 each. I considered both the Necropede's and the Ichorclaw Myr's, but without Nexus's, they're too inconsistent. I don't like Gold Myr in here, as there's nothing to ramp into and he's a sub-par attacker.

Personally, I think your list is a bit to clunky. It needs to be more streamlined, and faster. Replacing the Gold Myr's and Necropede's with Porcelain Legionnaire and Vault Skirge would speed it up. Silence is better in a control deck, whereas Tempered Steel is aggro. I'd replace it and the Spellbombs with Dispatch's and a fourth Idol.

Here's what I would do to improve your list, nabby:

-4 Plains
+4 Inkmoth Nexus
-2 Plains
+2 Mox Opal
-2 Origin Spellbomb
+2 Mox Opal

Your land count (at 20) is a little high for this sort of deck. When you consider the most expensive card in your deck is Tempered Steel at three converted mana cost, you could probably get away with 18 lands.

Inkmoth Nexus is a must in your deck. With a Tempered Steel on the field, it can sweep up late games with a 3/3 (maybe more) infectious flier. It also can be used as an artifact towards Metalcraft, or for the cost to cast Glint Hawk, you can even animate it during your opponent's turn to block flying creatures. Especially without Ornithopter, you're going to need more potent artifact spells (or in this case lands).

As I said before, your artifact count is going to be a little messed up without the Ornithopters. You need a free artifact spell to cast in here, and Mox Opal is that spell. Aside from providing an extra mana during your turn, it fufills metalcraft abilities and can be sacrificed turn 1 for a Glint Hawk.
