The PokeBeach Thread of Mucus...err-Music

RE: The Pokebeach Thread of Mucus...erm-Music

I'll listen to pretty much anything but rap and metal. I prefer listening to older rock groups than anything else. Here's a list of some of my favorites I can think of off the top of my head:

The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Billy Joel, Queen, David Bowie, Boston, Foreigner The Eagles, Bob Segar, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Billy Idol, Heart, Tom Petty.

RE: The Pokebeach Thread of Mucus...erm-Music

Currently listening to a lot of Architecture in Helsinki. Because they're awesome.

RE: The Pokebeach Thread of Mucus...erm-Music

I listen to a lot of stuff, mostly rap. But not that bad, mainstream rap, like Li'l Wayne. He's just a talentless loser who the public loves because he's on drugs. My favorite musicians are Dumbfoundead and Wax. You can find them on Youtube, but I'm not gonna post 'em here because they have questionable subject matter I guess. I also like bad 80s pop (Erasure, Rick Astley, etc.).
EDIT: 8/28/2011- I dissed Lil Wayne... wat

RE: The Pokebeach Thread of Mucus...erm-Music

Agreed, 6-D. Lil' Wayne is all hype and a bag of chips, imo.

RE: The Pokebeach Thread of Mucus...erm-Music

^^Dumbfoundead is the coolest, he's got funny stuff on his channel, amazing music, and his rap battles are hilarious. Everybody should support that guy.

I listen to reggae and islander music, because it's always playing at my house (being a pacific islander and all). Traditional music from places like Ecuador and Palau, now that's ear candy.
My favorite artists are mostly guys you've never heard of, but a well known one is UB40. Red Red Wine is on an endless replay loop in my head, along with Kingston Town and all those other great songs.

You'll also see various Japanese artists on my mp3 player and iPod, like Nico touches the walls, UVERWORLD, Orange Range, etc. etc.. If they've done an anime opening or closing, I (most likely) have it.

RE: The Pokebeach Thread of Mucus...erm-Music

JTE, Dark Fantasy, Runaway, Monster, Gorgeous and All of the lights are probably the best songs on kanye's albums, i recommend listing to all of them, except for Dark fantasy seeing as you have already heard it.

RE: The Pokebeach Thread of Mucus...erm-Music

@Drekin

Did you see Amazon has a John Lennon 15 song album with videos for $5?

RE: The Pokebeach Thread of Mucus...erm-Music

^^Im just curious, what do you think of Lil Wayne's new song? I kind of like it. Btw, I'll listen to those songs (except for Runaway. I've already heard that one, and I like it).

RE: The Pokebeach Thread of Mucus...erm-Music

i love rap and think eminem is a lyrical genious!!!!!! i also like green day, divide the day, and motorhead

RE: The Pokebeach Thread of Mucus...erm-Music

I listen to almost everything. You look at my playlists, and you see Ke$ha and Lady Gaga next to Van Halen and Motley Crue. I don't think their is such thing as bad music because the person is a horrible person, or the music is "fake" If it's addicting to listen to, or sounds good, I like it. I only don't like music if it actually sounds bad, or is just really annoying, which you don't find that often in popular music...
Edit: To sum it up, hate on the people, not their music

RE: The Pokebeach Thread of Mucus...erm-Music

Breaking Benjamin is probubly on my #1 list. Overwise i'll listen to pretty much anything besides slow songs. Not that big on rap music though.

RE: The Pokebeach Thread of Mucus...erm-Music

Has Daft Punk been mentioned yet? I'm a big fan. I enjoy Techno and Hard Rock. Techno Rock. Yeah.
That's about all I'd listen to, but I tolerate every kind of music. I don't hate anything, really.

EDIT: Oh yeah, AadmM mentioned it. Rock on. :p
I got the new TRON soundtrack, and it was great. I have the Discovery Album, too. Spectacular.

RE: The Pokebeach Thread of Mucus...erm-Music

I listen a way too much songs. I could count and write them all day, but theres no need. I mostly listen to rock, metal, punk, jrock, soundtracs. My last listened song today is Young by Hollywood undead with fairly awesome lyrics. I love music. Maybe sometime i'll list what i listen...

RE: The Pokebeach Thread of Mucus...erm-Music

@omahanime

Yeah I saw it. One of my friends who also listens to him found it before I did and he showed me that awesome deal. I'll probably get it in the next few days.

RE: The Pokebeach Thread of Mucus...erm-Music

I tend to stay away from rap and hip hop. I do this because their songs have absolutely no meaning, also the hip hop songs have been murdered by voice mutations that show when they try to perform live, they don't as good as they do on your iPod, do they?
I am a alternative person with some punk/hard rock mixed in there. Those songs actually haqve meaning.

RE: The Pokebeach Thread of Mucus...erm-Music

^ I don't know what music you listen to, but not all rap songs aren't about drugs, money and chicks, they have meanings.

Finally, another Daft Punk fan on PokéBeach! You, my friend, are awesome.

Speaking of Daft Punk, I've found myself getting into their debut album, Homework, a lot more recently. I think that's because I finally have a decent pair of headphones and speakers for my computer now and can actually listen to it the way it was meant to be listened to--with lots of nice, deep bass :D

RE: The PokeBeach Thread of Mucus...erm-Music

@Typhlosion: I don't know who you listen to but off the top of my head I can think of at least 5 rappers who are more conscious than any music you've ever listened to in your life. To name a few...

Politically Conscious Artist (Oppression and Racism)
-Talib Kwali (2002 Album)
-Mos Def (2009 Album and His album with Black Star)
-Immortal Technique (Oppression and History of the Latino Culture)

Socially Conscious Artist (Trends and Pop Culture)
-Common Sense (Debut and Follow Up Album)
-Eminem (Slim Shady and Marshall Mathers LP)

Lyrically Conscious Artist (Extended Metaphors)
-Lupe Fiasco (The Cool, American Terrorist, Gotta Eat)
-Raekwon (Only Built for Cuban Linx)

I really could go on but I'll save you the embarrassment of being proven more wrong than your already are because you'd be hard pressed to name a song where any of these guys talk about "nothing".

Also the point of Production is to make something sound good. Obviously they would sound better in a controlled environmental as this is also true for singers as well. While I'm on he subject none of the rappers I mentioned used any of that "voice mutation" and again they were the only the names I felt like naming.

It's interesting you say that Rock/Punk music have more meaning even though in definition Rap is poetry. In the majority of Rock/Punk songs there is no Lyrical Content and the main focus of the song is the instruments and blending of vocals any how. In the genre where its what you say that matters, rap, you really can't make the argument that is has less meaning...

RE: The PokeBeach Thread of Mucus...erm-Music

On average, all musical genres have the same level of meaning. Different songs could be said to have different levels - and even some bands to some - but it's really all a matter of opinion. Trying to argue what does and doesn't have "meaning" is ridiculous, as there is no way to objectively measure it. It's completely futile.

Also, come on, guys. No other fans of Architecture in Helsinki? They should be required listening for any indie fan.

RE: The PokeBeach Thread of Mucus...erm-Music

@lilsparks101 Now, I see. the only one of those rappers i've ever heard of was Eminem. I'm just not a fan because I don't like his voice (but I love his movie). Other than that I've never heard any of those songs. I'll listen to them, and you never know they may just end up on my iPod.
And I think I've been proven wrong. But it's just the music that's 'popular' at my school is like that.
