RE: The Questions and Answers Thread (All generations, excluding 5th)

^Maybe they meant Mount Moon? There's a shop there.

Is there any way to get Stunky/Skuntank in Platinum? I don't know any way to get it, and I don't have Diamond.

Where? How do I get into it? Do you mean the house that is always closed when I get the Moon Stone?:)

RE: The Questions and Answers Thread (All generations, excluding 5th)

^Yeah, the house that is closed in the evening.

Forgot to mention in my previous post that if it could be any way other than trading, that would be cool. Thanks!

RE: The Questions and Answers Thread (All generations, excluding 5th)

What can I buy there XD?:)

EDIT go you have Wi-Fi? If so you can get those off the GTS or from HG/SS I think XD.:)

RE: The Questions and Answers Thread (All generations, excluding 5th)

Stunky and Skuntank cannot be caught in Platinum by any means (besides breeding).

How many Blue cards do you get from Buena's Password in HG/SS? Do they start changing color at a certain point after receiving 30 points per card. I am wondering because I keep getting only the blue card. Thanks guys.:)

RE: The Questions and Answers Thread (All generations, excluding 5th)

The Blue Card is the key item that tells you your points in Buena's Password. It doesn't change color and you don't get a new one.

RE: The Questions and Answers Thread (All generations, excluding 5th)

Yeah you get a new one every 30 days as Buena gives you a new card every 30 days. She always says you receive a new blue card on the 30th day XD.

RE: The Questions and Answers Thread (All generations, excluding 5th)

I looked up to see what you're talking about - the only thing that even resembles that is that you get her phone number after you acquire 30 points. That's all.

RE: The Questions and Answers Thread (All generations, excluding 5th)

Oh yeah I knew that. After each 30 points. She says something similar to this. Your point total is now 30. Your points will be reset to 0 and you receive a new blue card. After you get the 30 points she give you a new blue card. I was just wondering if there were anything other than blue. Thanks XD.:)

RE: The Questions and Answers Thread (All generations, excluding 5th)

Okay, so my used Crystal cartridge arrives in a few days (I had my Pikachu Edition Gameboy Color for almost a week now with nothing to play on it...lol. And yeah, I'm poor :D) and I have a bunch of questions because I never owned a gameboy and never played Gen2.

I'm new to playing on the actual gameboy (played on emus for a while) are there any rules of thumb for not messing up anything, with the gameboy or your game? Is just turning your gameboy off in the middle of the game bad? Does the game save when you turn off, or just when you save yourself? How do you roll back a game? (In case you messed something up, like killing a legendary - by the way, is it true they don't come back if you do that?) Can you trade with a DS somehow, or just Advance?

I loved battle stations in Emerald (the first game I played) and I hear Crystal has the Battle Tower which has a similar role. Can you finish it more than once? (I found no answers to this anywhere. I suspect you can, but I wanna be sure) Do the battles in it give exp, and if yes, are they good for training, or it's not really worth it? And last, does anyone still play competitive Gen 2 anymore? Is there still an online tool for that?

Thanks in advance for the answers!

RE: The Questions and Answers Thread (All generations, excluding 5th)

I can answer two of your questions~

~You have to save while playing your game-It doesn't save on it's own

~You can get your Pokemon to a DS game, you just have to trade to a newer gameboy game, then transfer with a DS/DS lite.

RE: The Questions and Answers Thread (All generations, excluding 5th)

Yeah, that's how I mean it. So you need a GBA first?

Another question that's really grinding my gears: Is the obtainable money unlimited? Because by the design of the game, the way to make money is battling trainers, but the trainer money is limited. So the only way to get money after that is selling the battle rewards from the tower (given that you can do it more than once) and selling items wild pokémon hold (Like Shellders have 50% chance of holding pearls) or what?

RE: The Questions and Answers Thread (All generations, excluding 5th)

To "roll back a game" you would just save in front of a legendary or E4 or whatever, and if you fail you restart the game and it'll be back to your last save point.

Thanks. Waiting for answers on my other questions, including the one I edited into my last comment!

Yes, in theory. You just have to keep at it. Certain Trainers, as well as the Elite Four, can be rematched an infinite amount of times.

Crystal can only trade with GB-era games (that is, RBY and GSC, plus Stadium). It can't trade forward to RSE or other games.

Just like in the Battle Frontier, the Battle Tower in Crystal gives no exp. Basically, the Battle Tower in Crystal was the precursor to the Battle Tower in RSE - and it has the exact same rules.
And last, does anyone still play competitive Gen 2 anymore? Is there still an online tool for that?
Not that I'm aware of, sorry.

Aww, that sucks. I heard the GBA has a slot for the GBC cable, (now that I looked it up it doesn't) that's why I hoped I could trade forward my team when I had enough money for a newer system. It also would've made it easier to find someone around my city I could trade with (Some of my favorite pokémons are trade-evolutions, boo.) Aw well. I probably would've raised a new team anyway. Thanks for the answers!

RE: The Questions and Answers Thread (All generations, excluding 5th)

GBA just has a slot for GBC games - not the actual cable. And trying to connect two GBC games (both played in a GBA) with a GBA Link Cable doesn't work either - I've tried.
So yeah it's a pity, but at least Crystal is very fun.

RE: The Questions and Answers Thread (All generations, excluding 5th)

Sounds good! I'm glad I bought that one then. I chose it mainly because the Battle Tower and the updated sprites/locations, even though it was a little more expensive (and harder to find) on ebay.
Also, thanks for the bonus info.

Looking forward to playing it!

What is cloning and how is it done?I keep hearing of a "cloning glitch" and thought I might ask.
