so, how do you scan something with the 3DS if it's on the 3DS's screen?

Lool, did you read my entire post? xD
Besides, I was just replying to @CorinthiansRose, I'm not suggesting they would do that...

EDIT: Ninja'd by @leecario xD Thanks ^^

Haha yeah I was just kidding around as well. If they did do something like that there would be an outrage lol

Vivillon could be more of a "gift Pokemon" than a gimmick one. Looking a Spewpa (2nd Stage evo), I guessed the spots on his body sort of look like confetti. Usually, when you see confetti it is associated with loud noises, such as parties or the 4th of July.

My final conclusion is that means Sound type is hinted at, or it gives gifts to people.

But we already know it's typing: Bug/Flying

Well, I agree that confetti may be an inspiration. The 'pixels' on Vivillon and Spewpa do remind me of confetti. And the name Spewpa. Maybe it spews confetti?

Maybe Vivillon's line are party Pokemon? I mean Spewpa does look like its covered in glitter and confetti and Vivillon itself sort of looks like a disco ball, now all we need is Noivern, the boombox bat-dragon so we can have a Poke-party. But still, something seems a bit strange about Vivillon and its evos, but it might just be crazy fan speculation. I think that when we get its species name, we might have a better idea about what this is all about.

Ah yes, but not Vivillon being Sound, just in general as a new type.

so, it's a pokemon you can hit with a metapod to get a bunch of candy? COOL!

lol jk but i don't see this being a hint towards the sound type. i see it like a pinata, covered with newspaper and confetti and glue.

To me it looks digitalised. I like the idea of that. :) And no, Sound-Type is not being hinted at... That just defies common sense in relation to the recent announcement of Fairy etc.

Going on what Rally said about it possibly being a "Gift" Pokemon, I think it would be cool if you could only find the Pokemon on the birthdate registered into your 3DS.

That would be an awesome way to get some pokemon and even if it for vivillon I would love this for some mon.

Hi guys I never post, but reading this thread I've noticed no one has pointed this out.

I think making Eevee hold one of Vivillon scales will make it evolve into Sylveon.
Vivillon dex entry says "The Bug- and Flying-type Pokémon Vivillon uses its wings to scatter its scales or create a strong wind to attack. Vivillon is said to have a secret hidden in the colorful decorative pattern on its wings."

I mean look at the colors, and remember how the bow that represent Sylveon in the movie flew away like a butterfly?

I see what you say, and you are very perceptive; but it's highly unlikely. Unless there's a connection between vivillon and sylveon/the fairy type in general that will be unveiled later.
Pink and light blue are just two colors that go really well with each other (I should know, they are my favorites) so it's not strange that the color scheme repeats itself. Hell, just look at corsola, chimecho, flaaffy and I'm sure I'm forgetting some.

I guess the "secret" of vivillon is either a spinda-like procedural pattern changing or it's really nothing. Remember in FRLG? a NPC said pattern bush had a secret in its layout, I made a plan, spent days looking for it, looked it online and... nothing. They are probably just exaggerating, like they always do in the pokedex.

I love that idea or something similar I guess.

Has anyone thought about its name including 'viv'? Instead of vivid, maybe it comes from 'life' as in lively. I'm just pointing this out because Vivillon seems to have to do with confetti/partying.

Festive, I see it as a partying pokemon, it already has a musical/ disco ball feel in its design

It could be a festive Pokémon! This excites me for a parade!

With the festive thing, and the stuff about it blowing scales with the wind (or something like that), then here's an idea for it:
There could be some kind of 'Vivillon Festival' in a town in the games, at a certain time each month (or something). There could be some kind of wind that helps carry them through the air, which also makes its scales scatter. The scales would then fall onto the crowds, and there could be some kind of old tale that says something like 'whoever gets Vivillon scales scattered on them will be blessed with a years good luck'.
What would be really interesting is if this Festival is in Vaniville Town, and there's a main one that happens right at the start of the game. The Vivillon come, and all the scales scatter on you and your friends. Then, the day after the festival, that's the day when you get your starter and start your journey.

Of course, I'm thinking that whole Vivillon secret is just one of those Pokedex 'facts' that is touched upon ingame a bit but never really has any relevance.

It could have an exclusive attack. Like, 'Confetti Blast'. That would be awesome. cx

I actually really think this is something Gamefreak might do. If the rumors on the main page are true, Gamefreak is coming up with many new ways of letting Pokémon evolve. Maybe Vivillon is indeed required to make Eevee evolve into Sylveon. Even the sound of their English names are very similar! I don't know the Japanese name for Vivillon.

I doubt they would specifically point out the secret in its wings if it was really insignificant.
