XY The secret of Vivillon

Who says it can't be both? It sure as hell wouldn't be the first time. I mean, almost every pokemon is based off of at least 2 or 3 things.
I know, but really, what are the chances that it's based off of a disco dancer?
Just from a very subtle aesthetic design? I don't think so. I literally see it as a farewell to pixels mixed with a butterfly.

So disco suddenly didn't have colorful squares people danced on? Also, look at it's pre-evolutions. One of them is literally shooting confetti.

I never said that. Please don't put words in my mouth (posts).
And no, I don't see that. I see it as a form of the pixels leaving. Look at Spewpa. The "confetti" looks like pixels leaving the game for good.

Pixels aren't... I mean they aren't leaving the game; anything on a digital screen anywhere (that I know of) is made up of pixels.
They remind me more of confetti and disco and etc. but the wing shape is probably a coincidence either way, unless someone at GF was feeling particularly clever.

Because confetti never meant having fun or parties. Speaking of Spewpa, it kinda resembles a champagne bottle with all the foam going down it. Maybe this line is a farewell to sprites AS WELL AS a celebration of the new look.

Oh I know. What I meant was pixellated sprites.
We all know how clever GF can be...

Why can't Vivillon be a pixelated disco dancer? I still think that a disco dancer/floor/ball is still the most likely inspiration.

Has anyone thought about its name including 'viv'? Instead of vivid, maybe it comes from 'life' as in lively. I'm just pointing this out because Vivillon seems to have to do with confetti/partying.
I can see this. As others have pointed out, it has a confetti/disco ball resemmblance, but I'm surprised that no one mentioned that it's base evolution is "Sewpa" which looks like it could be pronounces similar to "super." When considered with the mention of the "viv-" in it's name possibly coming from the Latin root meaning "life," GF seems to be loosely hinting at a joyful theme for the evo-line - if not in reference to partying (and yes, this is uncharacteristic of me as I generally do not like to speculate on such a small detail).

What if, due to the scales on its wings, its ability was Multiscale?

How about multitype?
Multitype is hard-coded to only work for Arceus. You could hack it on to any other pokemon and it wouldn't do anything (just like Forecast on any pokemon besides Castform). Also, if you think about it, why would some random moth/butterfly react to the elemental plates if only the 'god' pokemon did before?

I'm not sure if you accidentally spelled it Sewpa, but the correct spelling is Spewpa, so I personally don't think it would be a play on the word 'super'. I think it's just Spew and Pupa. But I think Vivillon is more based on parties than pixels. Originally I thought pixels, too, but I don't know. I think partying makes more sense. And who doesn't love parties? I think that if anything, Vivillon's secret is that its wings have varying patterns, as was before mentioned.

I did typo, but just try saying "spewpa" out loud and tell me again it doesn't sound even remotely like a slurred version "super" (phonetically written: spyo͞opə vs. so͞opər. The second word, 'super,' could sound like 'syo͞opə' when slurred. this doesn't have to be an exact match anyway). even if it does originate from spew and pupa (which is entirely possible, and very likely) it doesn't rule out an extra pun tossed in. a common tactic used in certain types of humor is to have several layers of possible meanings that all have some relation to the context (whether ironic, straightforward, or just humorous), some more deeply hidden to provide a "ah-ha" moment when the audience truly gets the full impact of the joke/pun/etc. in this case, the word combo would be the surface effect with the similarity to a possible pronunciation quirk being the secondary level of the pun.

Something just came into my mind. What if this Vivillon's secret is just something that Game Freak wanted to cause like these crazy theories with? Like 'ermahgeerd it's gotta be like a bug version of Porygon or it's like the cause of Porygon-Z cuz it's a bug'. xD I mean really, is it just a joke from GF?

I don't find this theory too likely, but maybe it's true. :D

This is just a bunch but could it be about the new team, such as plasma. I remember a guy in the video saying what about the the new evil team, the reply was there will be team "something"... Could this resemble there icon[/code]

If you put the wings together they make an appearance of a bow with a symetrical design and it looks like a icon I seem to saw somewhere, but every other team was plain and simple. So why not, but it's just a bunch. They could be a disco team thing.

If you look at the patten on the top of the wings it kinda reminds me of the older geration maps.

Green inner is the grass, the yellow is path and the red is the top of houses/buildings.

I wonder if that might be related in some way?

Remakes are coming out

Because there's totally never been a little hint at something in a pokemon's design before.
