The Set Rotation Discussion Thread

^think how unfair it is. we still get to use luxchomp and they have a slow format that cant stand up to ours.

I heard in france there haveing mid season rotation and its hgss on. If they have mid season rotation that means where going to have mid season rotation.

good....wait if its mid season then what is the regular rotation gonna be o_O...or if we have mid season does that mean that we will have no regular rotation?

Where did you hear that, thepliskin5005? I haven't heard the same thing, and even if it's true, I don't think that necessarily means we'll have the same thing...

Well i heard this from a person who go's to my pokemon league he wouldnt be a person who would lie about it but he could be miss informed.

I am really hoping for PL-on so we still keep Palkia G lv.x, Cyrus's conspiracy, Octillery and Delcatty. But Im going to be really mad if its RR-on because the pull ratios suck for me! (seriously I have not pulled a single lv.x out of a rising rivals pack since the prerelease)

I hate to admit it, but whatever happens, MD, LA and SF are all goners. Maybe Platinum and RR, but that would be a shame. I'd hate an HG/SS-onwards format, it'd narrow down options way too much, and if you're not running a Prime, you're dead. It'd be all Gengar Prime from there onwards. I must admit though, I'm kind of relieved that it's the end for Uxie X, Gyarados and Gengar SF. I never got any of them, and they've been a pain to play against. As for Luxchomp and the SP-engine, I think they've got a bit more life left in them (hopefully).

^What about Jumpluff? That's not a Prime, and would definitely still be competitive...
HGSS has its options. But RR-on would be better.

HGSS on has many options:

Magnegatr
Wailord
Jumpluff
Scizor
Steelix
Magboar
Donphan
Meganium
Legends
Lost___

alot of options and all kind of have an even chance unlike now where you play LuxChomp or lose

ok, of what i have read so far i think that it is mainly with the opinion that SP is terrible!!! in my mind their are two options both of which many people will probably hate me for. the RR on would be ok but why would that be good, would you really want a format that has barely and other meta decks apart from lostgar? you all say that SP will die, but in that lostgar would be born. there are decks like Dialgachomp that could easily keep it balenced. maybe we should follow yu-gi-oh and ban certain cards for a season to see how it goes. now you may think that this is bad, but say we ban the sp engeine, would that make sp bad or sp slower? are the actual Pokémon alright is it just the trainers we all hate?
everyone is saying that RR on then UL on because CoL was there to reprint; actualy it was there to give us the lost link cards we didnt get, so, as no english set has EVER had less than 90 cards they HAD to reprint.

as i said before these are the two rotations it should be:

PT on (with cetain cards banned)
HGSS on (new decks could be made!!!)

^they wont ban anything unless its grossly misused and utterly fool proof. there are ways to beat SP such as machamp and the fact that they have low HP but there so darn fast that we cant keep up. its not that SP is bad its that its to fast. if we go PT on we will have a 3rd year of SP rule which n one wants except for SP players that will cry when SP is gone.

also there will always be a deck that rules the format. we lose LuxChomp and then we gain LostGar. there are ways to beat it. mostly anything dark will beat it but again its so disruptive and fast that most decks cant keep up

yes...but they all use the same engine. cyrus, crobat, poketurn blah blah blah. if that is gone then it starts to suck

catutie has a point, without trainers SP Pokemon aren't worth bothering with. The purpose of them is that you use trainers to get a quick set up and win. Without trainers, it would take forever to get the prepared energies unless you're using 'Gatr prime, and even if you were, that only benefits Water-types.

Arceus-on
Because it keeps stage 2 decks at a descent speed with Spiritomb, and two it will allow Arceus to actually see some good play since it is a great deck that didnt see much play :(

Arceus will be top tier whether we get RR-on or AR-on, tbh. I'm debating playing it this season myself, if I care enough. I really hope we don't get PT-on, because from the SP side of things we're in mostly the same format, and most people would get pretty bored of four years of the same show.

thats why Arceus on is better, it gets rid of SP, while keeping the game at a fair pace until they release or rerelease more speed cards in the next set after the BW base set IMO

Arceus still has a couple of odd SPs floating around, Beedrill G and Zapdos G come to mind. No major threats in the metagame, though.

ok get rid of all used SP pokemon aka luxray and garchomp the most overused cards would be out, charizard would become more viable and some of the slower decks would be able to compete
