BW/BW2 The Simple 5th Gen VG Questions and Answers Thread

RE: The B/W Questions and Answers Thread

That guide was awesome, but it still doesn't work for me. I went to my dream pal map, but there's nothing on there. I tried clicking "go to a special home," but it said it wasn't available.

RE: The B/W Questions and Answers Thread

If you go to the Dream Pal Map, there should be at least 1 house on there (it'll be near the bottom right). The reason you don't see anything is because you don't have any Dream Pals. You have to go visit other people's houses to make them.

The special home was available up until May 29th and it corresponded to the Movie Reshiram/Zekrom events. I wasn't aware the link for it was still there.

That's weird, I don't even see a single house. Could it be a glitch?

RE: The B/W Questions and Answers Thread

...It could be. Or maybe they changed the way that people make Dream Pals?

I haven't been online in a long time, but does the Dream World itself (not the PGL site) still look like the screenshots I've taken?

RE: The B/W Questions and Answers Thread

I couldn't tell you for sparkling sea and windswept sky, as I haven't unlocked them yet, but it looks the same for everything else.

RE: The B/W Questions and Answers Thread

Huh. That means it should be working mostly the same way.
OH! I think I have it.

I know on your profile, there is actually a specific setting that controls whether or not you can see Dream Pals. You can make it so that your profile can be seen by 1 of 3 groups of people: Everyone, Friends Only, or No One. And oddly enough the default setting is No One, iirc. You may need to change that.

RE: The B/W Questions and Answers Thread

This is a B/W 2 question, so most people probably won't know this.

If you beat the game, then get that Key that allows you to change difficulties, i.e. to Hard Mode and all that, can you then start your game over completely with Hard Mode active right away?

Edit: darn, I wanted post 7777 to be more worthwhile than just this

RE: The B/W Questions and Answers Thread

Kind of a stupid question, but can you trade with older generations? A friend really wants my Darkrai, and I can't trade at all...

I'm not sure if you can change the difficulty right away in your own game, but if you have two copies of either game with one completed, you can link the new game and the finished game together and share the "Hard" key with the unstarted game.

You cannot trade with older generations. However, you can transfer Pokemon from Gen IV to Gen V games using the PokeTransfer system. After beating the game, go to Route 15. At the middle of the walkway, there will be a large building where you can transfer older Pokemon to the current games. You will need two DS's to do this though.

Could I connect that way with a Japanese game (provided both games are in DS or DS Lite Systems)?

RE: The B/W Questions and Answers Thread

I heard recently that an IV check NPC was nearest to the exit of the Battle Subway. I was curious of the IVs of my in-game team in my current Black replay, so I went to take a look....I talked to every NPC in the building and didn't find him. I haven't defeated the E4 or participated in a Subway Challenge, yet, so could this be why he's not there?

it might be the reason. I never checked my IVs before the E4.

RE: The B/W Questions and Answers Thread

The guy is an Ace Trainer (so says his sprite), and he's riiiiiiiiiiight as you come into the Battle Subway, about 5 paces left and 2 paces up.
He will tell you a general idea of the Pokemon's IV sum total (91-120 is above average, 121-150 is relatively superior, and 151-186 is outstanding), plus an idea of what its highest IV is (21-25 is very good, 26-30 is fantastic, 31 is it can't be better).

You forgot decent. Decent all around means they are really low.

RE: The B/W Questions and Answers Thread

I didn't forget them. I just chose not to mention them, because I felt they weren't worth mentioning.

RE: The B/W Questions and Answers Thread

You can easily level up by fighting the trainers and Pokemon on the later routes. Most of the trainers have weak Pokemon at high levels. Shouldn't be much of a problem.

RE: The B/W Questions and Answers Thread

I know this is for bw, but how do you set up global link/dream world for pokemon white 2? I've been trying guess and check, but I really can't read Japanese. /:

I think it should be the same as always - get a (Japanese) PGL account, then go to the Online section of the C-Gear and activate Game Sync.
