It might work as long as Water is not very popular. However, I can see it working better as a tech on Flygon than by itself (I´ve already tested both). If you run it as a main attacker, you have the donk potential, but you rely on E-Belt to do serious damage (or you need to attach 3 Fighting energies). In Flygon, however, it helps the deck as Machamp as it can do some nasty high damage (and thanks to Phanpy´s Flail, it can be used with Memory Berry) while you charge Flygon in the bench. However, Machamp works better against SPs.

Donphan is Tier 1.5, if not Tier 2. You basically hit the target, seeing that Donphan is weak against Water *coughgatrkingdracough* With just 120HP and an x2 weakness to water means any Water type that can do 80 damage base (account for the body) will one-shot Donphan. Kingdra can do 80 with an E-Belt on, and Gatr can spread and accumulate damage.

RE: The Storms ~ This format is ours! *Always accepting members*

I think Donphan will be Tier 2. It will have major trouble against Water types like Kingdra, Gyrados, and Gatr, but once you set up the three energies he's pretty hard to beat as he can 2HKO almost every Pokemon.

RE: The Storms ~ This format is ours! *Always accepting members*

Okay... I was thinking about this.... and if he has Kingdra/Does problems... why not stick a Mime out to stall whilst you charge up on NRG?

RE: The Storms ~ This format is ours! *Always accepting members*

Because using the 3 energies attack is not the best idea. Kingdra will OHKO Donphan, and Donphan can´t OHKO Kingdra even if it uses the 3 energies attack w/ E-Belt. Saying it simply, if Kingdra get 2 on the bench with E-Belt, you´re done. That´s why I said it works better with something else (Flygon), you´re not going to get a Donphan against a water deck. However, I´m not sure about what the match-up between Flygon and Kingdra or Feraligatr.

RE: The Storms ~ This format is ours! *Always accepting members*

Donphan is good as a tech in my op If you use it with Nidoqueen you can just tank and then send flygon up but it sounds all swell but I think that it is clunky anyway it might be a Regs deck when we know more about the format.

Sorry for not posting I hate school or math rather

Donphan's placement in the format is probably 1.5 While I'd like to believe that he'll fail due to heavy Feraligatr percentages (and, not to mention, Dialga G Lv.X should see some play), we have to wonder how popular Feraligatr really will be. Plox utterly destroys 'Gatr, and it should be pretty popular, hence a bit of a deficit in 'Gatr players. So, 'Gatr isn't the real threat; Gyarados, on the other hand, is much harder to beat than Feraligatr. Gyarados will destroy Donphan, and with the release of Pokemon Collector, seeing it played is highly likely. With heavy water being played, I'd probably have to agree that Donphan is tier 1.5.

RE: The Storms ~ This format is ours! *Always accepting members*

You´re right, it won´t be Tier 1 because of the many counters it has. Bad thing for Donphan is, if the deck runs Exploud for Weakness, the consistency will be ruined. If the meta is filled with water deck, I´d rather use a deck that does good against them than teching an Exploud in Donphan. IMO, it´s not good enough because of the huge Weakness against Water, but can still wreck some decks that aren´t prepared for it.

Another thing: I´m working on the match-ups for my article (DP-HGSS), and I want to be sure I don´t miss anything. Right now I have Flygon Variants, Gengar Variants, Porygon, Donphan, Jumpluff, Charizard, Kingdra, Feraligatr, Gyarados, Shuppet, Palkia Lock, Dialga Garchomp, Lady Gaga and Blazeray. What else should I add?

RE: The Storms ~ This format is ours! *Always accepting members*

^ I think that donphan is pretty consistant even with exploud in there. Also I think you might be missing speedrill in your match-ups.

RE: The Storms ~ This format is ours! *Always accepting members*

What I mean is that if you go against Water, you´ll focus on getting Exploud, slowing the deck (as it won´t be running 4 Rare Candy). If you don´t focus on getting Exploud, the water deck you´re going against will simply smash you.
Anyway, thanks for reminding me that one.

Talking about porgon makes me wonder is the deck still good anymore with DCE I mean the speed of the deck would be outragues plus E-belt. So yeah but the prob is finding the promo anymore.

IMO, it´s a good deck to play, but it´s a bit difficult to master it. You have to know how to play it really well for it to work properly. And yes, it´s difficult to get the Promogon in some places.

RE: The Storms ~ This format is ours! *Always accepting members*

Hmm there are many techs to go with it to interesting

The 8 spots you invest on TMs make the list a bit tight, however.

Well, I'm running Shuppet, I'm looking for a deck to run after worlds =/

RE: The Storms ~ This format is ours! *Always accepting members*

I can´t really tell you what will be playable after World because we don´t know what new cards will come. Assuming that the format is Pt-On, we lose Claydol and Uxie, mening that Fire decks (thanks to ninetales) and some SP decks will be the best unless we get another form of draw support in Revived Legends.

RE: The Storms ~ This format is ours! *Always accepting members*

Hey guys, how do you think Typhlosion will do in the format? I was thinking of playing it, and I may not even use the Prime version. The Stage Two is pretty good.

RE: The Storms ~ This format is ours! *Always accepting members*

It'll do really well! It can abuse Ninetails to no end!

I am considering it, too, maybe a 2:2 of Prime and normal?

RE: The Storms ~ This format is ours! *Always accepting members*

It can be playable, but has the same problem that Donphan has, Water decks.

RE: The Storms ~ This format is ours! *Always accepting members*

I think typhlosion prime would be good with charizard.

EDIT: double ninja

RE: The Storms ~ This format is ours! *Always accepting members*

Blaine, once again, hit the target again. Water weakness. Although Charizard doesn't have an x2 weakness (which makes it more dependable against Kingdra/Gatr/Gyarados) against some of the faster decks like those decks Charizard is still pretty weak. Unless you run an Exploud tech; however, it lowers the damage Charizard can do. Charizard is either tier 2.5 or two, but definitely not 1.5 or one.
