Blaine- I'm not going to play a 2nd Spiritomb because I don't want it to get locked. So my starting Spiritomb has the damage removed from Curse. You do 30 to me. I Darkness Grace some random basic. You remove 30 and hit me for 30 again. I Darkness Grace another Pokemon. I have 50 on me now. You remove 30 and do 30. I Darkness Grace and I'm KO'd.

Well, right now this Vilegar discussion is going to be rather, difficult. We are already talking about possibly-metagame-decks when we don't even know the set order or anything that will be rotated out.

@CyndaquilMaster: I often times to see 1-1-1 Nidoqueen. Usually it's to play around a Spiritomb, but every now and then someone uses Nidorina's attack to take two Pokemon from the discard.

If you're using Rescue, you either win in the next two turns or you've lost and the 2 Pokemon won't make any difference.

I didn´t said you´ll play a second Spiritomb, but that random basic that you play might pretty well be a tech. Besides, I can always Curse away the self damage of your Spiritomb and don´t use Shadow Bind if that would KO you. I´ll simple let you evolve everything, sacrifice my Spiritomb and then you can´t self damage your Spiritomb anymore.

But if you DON'T shadow bind, the lock is broken, and someone could retreat their spiritomb, bring up their main attacker and proceed to beat your face in.

That´s the idea (kinda). When they can´t evolve anymore and retreat, they´ll just KO my Spiritomb and I´ll proceed to Bright Look theirs and lock it.

I'm actually starting to have a hard time following the discussion a bit right now. Just as a re-cap, it's still on Vilegar, right? And right now it is what happen if the lock breaks, right?

@Celebi: Yeah, something like that. I usually see Rescue being used towards the lategame, when the game is about to wrap up. It's usually win or lose after it.

Thanks for reminding me. Since the prereleases are over, it's time to talk about RL/States/Regionals and combos and stuff like that.

And speaking of States, I'm planning to go to two. One in Glen Burnie, MD, and one in Dale City, VA.

Whoa, two? I commend you on your mobility! If all goes well I'll just make it to one... Long Beach, CA on the Queen Merry.

Both States are actually pretty close. Glen Burnie is about 30-45 minutes away from me. It's the same exact place as last year's States, so I know about how long it would take. And then the Dale City one is about an hour drive. I'm also going to have to be giving Shadowwiidragon a ride to the Dale City States. Since registration there starts at 8:30, and it's an hour drive, AND I have to pick up SWD, I'm probably going to have to leave at 7 in the morning XD.

Wow sounds fun... I suggest ecspresso when getting up that early lol. Designated driver anybody? Umm anyways, so... how many people average show up to your championships?

ushally about 80 for masters 70 for SRs and about 40 for JRs IIRC from last year.

Same with me. I live more in NorCal, so it's like a 6 hour drive down there. My chances of making it to states aren't so good... But at least I can go to regionals, it's pretty close this year, only an hour or two away from me.

Really? Where's it located for Regionals this year?

And I'm ecpecting at least 85-95 in masters this year... If it reaches 100 I'll be shocked... Not like it hasnt happened, but still... Such a tall ladder to climb!!!

Apparently NorCal Regionals is in Sunnyvale this year. Right?

@meaty: To be honest, I don't know... I'm having trouble locating the events... Wonder where it's gonna be for SoCal... Pasadena, San Diego, and Anhiem come to mind, but that's about it.

I don't see any reason to stop a perfectly good discussion, as long as it's okay with Gliscor.

Anyway, your sense of logic on how a good player will play this match is completely impaired. I'm NOT going to play a tech. Why in the world would I play a tech that's going to get trapped? I'll play a basic from my main line and evolve that twice. If you're not going to KO me, I'll just Retreat, KO your berried Gengar and all of a sudden you have no solid way to recover it in a timely manner, you can't Poke Turn to Bright Look again and Blazeiken can't lock me, you can't play another Berry if you don't already have another attached and in a phrase, "U haz lost teh game." I'm not going to be stupid enough to evolve all my Pokemon with Spiritomb right away no matter what I'm facing. As soon as I get one setup, I'll start attacking with that unless it's a very special situation.

The problem is that you´re assuming I´ll leave Gengar active. I won´t. If I´m going to break the lock to prevent you from self KOing Spiritomb, I´ll retreat for my Spiritomb and move all the damage out of yours. You can retreat Spiritomb and KO mine, then I´ll Bright Look your Spiritomb and lock it again (don´t forget that I have been always moving damage counters to the bench). If you happen to have more Pokémon to evolve, I´ll repeat my move (and I´ll be able to PokéTurn as I don´t even need Vileplume to lock Spiritomb, it locks itself). Lastly, if I´m going to lock Spiritomb, I´ll focus my efforts in getting a fourth Gengar instead of a Vileplume, that way your 10 self damage doesn´t matters.
