The Yu-Gi-Oh Thread

RE: Yugioh Thread

It's like they just tried to slap as many effects on that monster as possible. Sheesh.

RE: Yugioh Thread

Just wondering, what's a solid Hieratic build? I see a ton need Card Car D, and I just don't have the money for them. Thoughts? Lists? Comments?

RE: Yugioh Thread

Cardcar D is good, but not necessary in Hieratics. I've played plenty of builds that didn't even run 1 copy.

Solid Hieratic builds usually have similar monster and spell lineups...

Monster
3x Hieratic Dragon of Tefnuit
3x Hieratic Dragon of Su
3x Hieratic Dragon of Eset
0-3x Hieratic Dragon of Nebthet
1x Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon
1x Wattaildragon
1x Luster Dragon #2

Spell
2x Hieratic Seal of Convocation

And...that's basically it for staples. A lot of variants are possible, though. For example, running a Curse of Dragon or 2 allows you to make Rank 5s, while running Hieratic Seal of the Sun Dragon Overlord, Blue-Eyes White Dragon, or Tri-horned Dragon can easily allow you to make Rank 8s, the third one letting you run the devastating "Number 22: Zombiestein". It really depends on what you want in a build.

My favorite build actually runs 5 normal monsters, something that most Hieratic players would shoot me down for: Wattaildragon, Luster Dragon #2, Curse of Dragon, and 2 copies of Tri-horned Dragon.

RE: Yugioh Thread

What does your Extra Deck look like, and how about Evols? I pulled a Najasho out of my packs and am thinking that if I already have Laggia and Dolkka, it could be fun.

RE: Yugioh Thread

My Extra Deck looks something like this, though it varies with the build I'm using (in this case, my build with 5 Normals). Since the deck's pretty expensive, I don't run it IRL...

2x Hieratic Dragon King of Atum
1x Photon Strike Bounzer
1x Constellar Ptolemys M7
1x Gauntlet Shooter
1z Inzektor Exa-Beetle
1x Tiras, Keeper of Genesis
1x Number 61: Volcasaurus
1x Wind-Up Zenmaioh
1x Shark Fortress
1x Number 22: Zombiestein
1x Hieratic Sun Dragon Overlord of Heliopolis
1x Number 107: Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon
2x Gaia Dragon, the Thunder Charger

Evols are pretty fun, but they're a bit on the expensive side. They're not fantastic, but they do what they do. They love cards like Enemy Controller, since they combo so well with Najasho and Elginero...

RE: Yugioh Thread

Hm. Evols are expensive? Huh. I saw most of the monsters for cheap on Amazon.

Also, I feel like I asked this question, but should I or should I not run Jurrac Guaiba? It's a 30 dollar investment that I'm not sure I want to make.

RE: Yugioh Thread

I stumbled across this last night and I thought it'd be an interesting thing to try. I did it myself, but it took me way too long as I was scrolling through EVERY monster to make sure I was doing it right. ...except in some cases I skimmed because I already knew, and the Spellcasters I skipped entirely - because my favorite Spellcaster is also my favorite YGO card, period. (I also skipped Spells and Traps since there's too many.)

Here's mine:

Needle worm lol

If I find the time for doing something like that, you can bet I'll make one. If not, I'll just use a text version. Awesome find.

...30 dollars for 3 Guaiba? Hell naw! Use Hydrogeddon so you can go into Abyss Dweller with 2200 ATK or something. I honestly think it's better than Guaiba, since the monster you special summon can attack!

As for that thingie with the pics...gimme a bit, then I'll post mine.
EDIT: Here it is
31237372.png

RE: Yugioh Thread

Whoa...that's a pretty nice option too. The 100 less Attack...I don't know how large of a difference that will make. Every 100 counts, but I'll buy it for now just as a substitute. However, if I play Macro Cosmos, it won't be going to the Graveyard. That's a problem.

RE: Yugioh Thread

It should't be a HUGE deal, considering you can spam Forbidden Lance with it anyway. Solution? Try not to use Hydrogeddon when Macro is out, or vice-versa. If you want the best effect, run 3 Hydrogeddon.

RE: Yugioh Thread

I main two Macro, so it shouldn't be too large of an issue. I only main two Lance so I can main three MST, which, imo, is a large confidence booster when I can just burn their backrow. I'll try them out and get back to you.

EDIT: Jurrac is working way better for me. I'm gonna have to buy him. :|

RE: Yugioh Thread

Well, the entirety of Judgment of the Light was leaked. And I must say, there are some AWESOME cards! For example:

FlyingC-JOTL-JP-NR.png

Flying "C"
Level 3/EARTH/Insect/Effect
700 ATK/700 DEF
When your opponent Normal or Special Summons a monster(s): You can Special Summon this card from your hand to their side of the field, in face-up Defense Position. While this card is face-up on the field, the controller of this card cannot Xyz Summon.
Now the circle of 'C' monsters is complete! Now you can punish your foe for Synchro Summoning, attempting to Xyz Summon, or just Special Summoning in general!

The set also introduces a small new archetype; the Fascinating Fiends, which gain card advantage off of using 'Trap Hole' cards. I'm all over this. Please, if you haven't already, check out the Yu-Gi-Oh wiki for details~

RE: Yugioh Thread

Dude, that Flying C is going to be crazy. I doubt it'll have the same impact as Maxx C (because, seriously, living up to Maxx C is a very tall order), but it should be enough to really throw your opponent off, especially since a lot of decks use Xyz Monsters nowadays.

If you need me, I'll be over here with my Synchros~

The ULTIMATE fanservice. I do love gimmicky archetypes, though, so I'll most likely be trying to get my hands on these. And now it's going to be even harder making XYZ and Synchro pushes with these new "C" cards. Eugh. I still like the Archfiend support the best.

RE: Yugioh Thread

Boo Hiss, Don. Nerts to you and your Shiny Black C.

After some testing, they work pretty well with Thunder King and Fossil Dyna. Having a reason to run 3 Trap Hole is always nice.

RE: Yugioh Thread

Oh, so you'd recommend more of an Anti-Meta build? That sounds really cool.

Also, what are your guys thoughts on Conversion side decking? I saw a video on it recently and wondered if it was as useful as people say.

And in case you didn't know, conversion side decking is when you play an archetype for the first game, and then side in a completely new archetype for the second game to throw off your opponent. For example, you're using Fire Fists against Mermails. They think you'll be siding in stuff like Macro for game two, but you take the fire fist element out of your deck and replace it with something like Evilswarms, to surprise your opponent and make the cards they tried to side against Fire Fist worthless. I haven't tried it, so I wanted to hear if you guys (meaning Don) had any experience with it.
