there's always dev/ygo pro ;)

I prefer Dueling Network over DevPro. I am much more familiar with that then the other.

RE: Yugioh Thread

DevPro does have a learning curve, and messes up some really complicated plays, but I still enjoy the level of customization, and I don't get as many ragequits. I still use DN a ton, though.

RE: Yugioh Thread

How does it mess up plays?

There are a lot of cards on DN that are virtually unplayable on it--Magical Hats, Convulsion of Nature, Toy Magician, and SIlver Sentinel just to make a few. All of these work perfectly on DevPro.

DevPro also usually adds cards faster than DN, and has NO bias on what is added (It added Burning Knucklers easily at least a month before DN did).

DevPro is better. It requires a download, but it finishes games faster than DN, it's automatic, you get less idiots, you don't have to wait 20 minutes for a mod--you don't even call them, really--you can participate in tag duels, and it's customizable from sound effects to graphics. It's really infinitely better than DN.

RE: Yugioh Thread

There were some problems with plays for decks like frogs a while ago, but they've probably fixed it by now.

If you're playing in this tournament, feel free to use either DN/DevPro. Just make sure your opponent is OK with it first.

RE: Yugioh Thread

Speaking of DevPro...I have an idea.

Anybody up for a tag team duel? :D

That sounds fun. How do they work? And are there any particular strategies that are effective in them?

RE: Yugioh Thread

Tag duals generally have 16000 LP on both sides.

Team A consists of Player 1 and 2, Team B consists of Player 3 and 4. Whoever wins the RPS goes first, then the opposite player from the other team goes, then your teammate, then the other player.
Example: Player 1 goes first. Player 4 is next, then Player 2, and finally Player 3.
After a player takes a turn, he/she still has control over his/her team's field until the opponent's turn ends. Then, your teammate takes control of your field.

You can't see your partner's hand (so PMing would work well for planning), and any card shuffled into the deck or returned to the hand will return to the hand of the turn player. So if I had 4 Dark World monsters in my graveyard and you had a...Kuriboh to make it 5 and you used Pot of Avarice, everything would go back to your deck. Constellars are particularly deadly in this sense, since Pleiades can bounce anything at any time, which could potentially give the Lightsworn opponent the Grapha that the other opponent possesses, or put an Xyz back into the extra deck of a player who cannot use it.

As for strategies...basically anything that doesn't take over your field works well. Decks like Crystal Beasts, Fire Kings, Fire Fists, and Mecha Phantom Beasts don't work well in tag team...unless your partner is also playing them. Control decks like Cloudians aren't exactly the best choice either, considering that your teammate will have control over your field half of the time, so it might not go over the way you want it to. Generally, "generic" decks work fairly well in tag team, but some changes need to be made to accommodate, like one player using a deck with a lot of traps while his teammate has a deck that doesn't run many traps. It's also important to make sure decks work together--if you play Elemental Dragons and your teammate plays Evilswarms, you're gonna have a bad time. But if you play Elemental Dragons and your teammate focuses on Skill Drain, synergy is natural and will be appreciated. It's really best to discuss with your teammate before the duel actually happens.

WHAT.

Uhh, sure? I guess?

RE: Yugioh Thread

so I downloaded DevPro and installed it what seemed like properly (no error messages or anything) but whenever run the Launcher I get an error where it says something went wrong and the program will now exit. It says
Value cannot be null.
Parameter name: item

I didn't see it on the DevPro FAQ and I don't know where to ask on the DevPro site. Its a bit of a long shot, but anyone here have any ideas? I'm thinking I should probably just uninstall and reinstall.

RE: Yugioh Thread

Well, a ton of cards from Judgment of the Light were just revealed. Like, a ton. And like, just revealed; they're getting translated as I'm typing. Check them out!
http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Judgment_of_the_Light

This set introduces 4 new archetypes: Umbral, Holy Lightning, Super-Defense Robo, and War God. The War Gods aren't translated yet, but they seem to revolve around 1 Monster, while the rest are "War God Arms"...I think they might equip themselves to the main dude. Maybe.

It also gives new support for Mecha Phantom Beasts, Fire Fists--they get a damn SYNCHRO--and Archfiends, which look like they're going to be stronger than ever with a spammable boss monster.

RE: Yugioh Thread

...and yet despite all that, there isn't any card that has really stood out to me other than Raizbelt the Regulator (or whatever his name is).
Except for that Number C104. Dang, what the heck is up with that thing!?
