The Yu-Gi-Oh Thread

But GK are supported by Necrovalley and are even fueled by it, so the general consensus is that GK are anti-meta.
Without Necro they are useless, so I think the field spell is the only part that's anti-meta. The rest works off it, so you could call GKs that by association.

I stopped because college is a thing. I still have the deck built and it does very well, I just haven't any time to play haha. Necrovalley + Malefic Stardust T1 is almost disgusting against some decks. Ophion and Wingbeat of Giant Dragon are the two biggest hindrances to this deck.

My friend learned of the awesome strategy that is Shining Angel's effect in a Sigma OTK deck. Never have I seen somebody change their opinions on vylons so quickly than a t5 victory. Wait until he meets Omega, dear god.
That aside, anybody here still run decks that they've had for years?

Vylons.
I go back to them and consistently OTK every time I do.

And Genex.
They suck, but I love them.

I've had both Mermails and Dragon Rulers built for every format they have been legal, but I guess the latter doesn't count. Ever since Hieratics came out two years ago, I've come back to them a lot, even now when they are actually good. So no, I constantly rotate decks according to my preferences, though those are the archetypes I've had the most experience with.

On another note, don_, you've inspired me to try to make a Genex deck that works ^-^

heh...I've been messing around with them since their debut, if you're looking for a place to start.

Sure. Post a list please :)

I like the Beelze access with Controller for one thing, and they look like an interesting deck to build thanks to their recruiter concepts. Out of their synchros, Vindikite and Locomotion look pretty useful.

Well, there are dozens of options. Do you want a list/tips for a specific type of build or what?

Oooh, WIND-based Genex decks are my favorite. But I've been messing with DNA Transplant Genex decks as of late.

Transplant + Machine Dupe + Solid = a ton of draw power, and a ton of swarming if Accelerator is on the field. Magic Planter is there to get rid of useless continuous traps and turn them into even more free cards. The deck has 3 Machine Dupe targets, so it's rarely a dead draw. Transplant additionally lets the deck go into things a 'normal' Genex build wouldn't be able to go into, like Paladynamo and Totem Bird.

Lol, wow this is something. You've clearly been working on these guys for awhile. I'd cut CED for BTH at first glance, that's about it. You could probably tinker with a few more synchros (Scrap, Spark, etc.) or Xyz like Angineer, Alucard or Exciton. It sounds pretty diverse.

Also, sadly, if I wanted to make this irl, I would have to find Planters, one of the few cards I can't get due to its age. Are there ay other variants you have stored that work?

Considering picking up pure Geargia to get ready for PRIO. Thoughts?

I don't have a huge variety of new cards IRL, so I have to usually work with outdated or meh cards for the extra deck. I've never been good at making extra decks, but I'll test those suggestions...even though with my luck, I'll probably be able to go into Vindikite during the duel I take it out. :V
But yeah, I need to have another generic rank 4. Going into ARK on the very first turn of the game isn't exactly a fantastic play, after all. Exciton Knight sounds like it'd work best.

Not really ATM, but I'm working on Dragon Ruler Genex.
Yes, I'm desperate to try everything.

Nooooo! Stay away from the meta! Don't build Geargia!

I've played Mermails and Dragon Rulers from their American introductions all the way up to now. I've also had the entire skeleton sitting around for the past year and never gotten around to using it >.>

@don: No, keep Vindikite, he is the coolest of the Genex synchs hands down. And DR Genex sounds interesting, though I doubt it would work too well because they only share attributes.

I don't disagree (actually, I do, I love Thermal Genex...and Axel...and Locomotive...). But since Simorgh counts as both Wind and Dark, I find myself going into Beelze 9 times out of 10.

And I know it wouldn't work well. It's just me being bored :V

You disgust me...d: It's just so easy to play the meta; I'm detested by it.

Says the guy who played Dino Rabbit when Rescue Rabbit was at 3. :p

But I must say, while it may be easy to play meta, it's not easy to master it.

That second line is very true. I remember the days of the first Dragon Ruler format, when there were two or three players of that deck at my locals each week (including myself). I won nearly every match I played against them because of foolish overextensions or misplays on their part, and I took advantage of it heartily. The same was true during last format, when I never lost a mirror match with Reckless Mini Mermails because, this time, I knew the openings I had to achieve to win and adjusted my play and choices accordingly (adding the Mini engine for Dweller access nearly guaranteed was key). When you play meta vs meta, especially in mirrors, I'd say skill truly shows itself between two players - the more competent one and better build will know how to win. I suppose the same can be said for non-meta decks of similar calibers, but it takes skill to master the fights on level playing fields - I won't doubt that DRs vs any deck outside of the mirror or Prophecy was skill-less until the January list, but you get what I mean :p

@Serperior: Eww

Edit: mfw Hoban steals the mini Mermail combo and claims it as his own while he tops YCS Vegas with it >.> Hoban's list

In all honesty, you couldn't have been the only one to think of that combo.
Also, lol 1 megalo

I know. I adopted the combo from two European Mermail players (Semifer and Dryas from Pojo). There's around six-eight players from Pojo who have extensively used it including myself, but those two created that variant.

And one Megalo is all you need nowadays. He's a terrible draw given the crappy discards we have left thanks to the ban list.
