US Nationals 2012

I'll be leaving Wednesday and getting there right when Pre-Reg starts, and then I will go to the room to meet you guys.
As far as decks go, Darkrai/Terrakion and Zeels/Terrakion seem to be the best choices for me. I personally will be using Zeels/Terrakion.
EDIT: Yes, Pre-Reg is Thursday afternoon.

IMO the winning deck will be something with heavy Terrakion. If I had to bet money on it it'd be either Darkrai/Terrak or ZekEels/Terrak.

Thank you so much for that new and insightful information. :p

In this format, you play Terrakion, you play Darkrai, you play Vileplume, you play some combination of them, or you lose. And I don't think most people are planning to lose to Vileplume, since it's so easy to beat it in a timed format.

Watch. Durant will prevail.

Now that I jinxed us all, Celebi has a point. You need Terrakion.

On a random side note, I wonder if Machamp Prime has potential...

I wouldn't be lying if I said I was thinking of playing that.

And that's what I hate about this format.

I feel like with the Vileplume timed comment, one needs to watch their opponent to make sure they are not stalling out turns so that the Trainer Lock deck cannot make a comeback and the person playing it needs to play quickly.

I feel that that's kind of implied to anyone who plays something with Vileplume. I should play an anti-meta deck. Vileplume/Espeon/Terrakion for Nats '12!

And watch as you go 0-9, there's just no solid attacker in that at all, unless you wanna go turbo Plume, which we all can guess how that will end. There's just no good answers in this format. Something that helps against one deck hurts you against another or just destroys consistency. I think that this year more than past years consistency will win at Nats.

Consistency > coinflips all day any day.

Also, you guys never answered me. Do you have any Fighting or Dark CoL for trade? :<

You guys could have told me you didn't. I'm thinking about buying them at Nats if I find any. Just so this doesn't get any more off topic, here's another discussion (thanks to HeyTrainer for it).

Which do you prefer, RH or non-RH decks? Why?

Last year I holo'd out my Magneboar (bad deck choice xP ) and I was drawing really well Thursday night but on Friday it seemed to draw really bad and got the best opening hand: 3 Fire, 3 Lightning, 1 Magnemite. After Henry said something about RHs clumping it made a lot of sense.

You don't get anything Nats wise if you get 3rd? Anyways, if you arrive late on the 29th then you've already missed 5/6 rounds. The tournament starts on the 29th at 10am. Although it says there's a cap, it usually isn't enforced. But it's always better to be safe than sorry.

There are no side events on the 28th. They start on the 29th around noon IIRC.

Really? You'd think there'd be something...Oh well, guess I'll just hang out and play a few games with you guys.

Anyway, non holo decks ftw! I'm the opposite of most people, I always try to get the regulars and not the holos, but if I have to I play them I will. I even tried to replace my Zekrom from RH to the ND non holo in the middle of Regionals, but then I heard I couldn't...At least now I have a complete non holo Zekrom/Eel :] Still working on Darkrai lol. As for the clumping thing, I never actually cared about that. It never really made a difference aside from one Regional where my energy clumped together two rounds in a row. Expense plays a bigger factor. And so does your cards being legal. All of my RHs warp .-.

At the last Battle Roads I went to, I traded my RH Random Receiver for a nonfoil Random Receiver. I think that explains my opinion on that subject.

Trade me your reverse stuff. ^__^

I'm considering using only cool holo stuff I like (aka Gold Catcher and FA EXs) next weekend. I really don't want to go through what I did last year. Now if only we got the same quality, non-warped RHs as Japan...

I personally have used a mostly RH deck this year. I think that I will go for non-RH next year to save money because the new cards are very versatile and people will most likely be switching decks.

I use all FA cards when I can, but rarely use the old RHs. If you're going to use an all RH deck, pile shuffle a lot.

I think a consistent Vieplume deck can destroy the newer more powerful decks in this format. I believe I am 5-1 against Darkrai (sometimes with Tornadus EX sometimes not) And X-9 against Zekeels. But consisttency is key.

The play for nats is, imo, Zekeels w/ Terrakion. Not only can it stand up to Darkrai variants it has great matchups across the board. It is fast, consistent, and can tech in so many cards.

As for RH, I luv em, but I don't got em. Half or less of my deck is reverse (All my energies are :p).

If you ever see one of my lists, you will probably laugh hysterically. Because I'm lazy, I play Zekrom FA and a Promo Zekrom, and both kinds of Mewtwo EXs. lol My list usually looks like a lot of 1-ofs.
