What Can Be Done to Improve PokeBeach Forums?

I don't get why to be a seller you have to have at least eight positive reps, i have 14 and still am not even allowed to be one :'(

The 8 rep policy is most likely in place so that not just anybody can make sales on the site, but have to prove themselves as good traders first. Positive reps show that you can keep up your end of the deal, make trades go smoothly, and can make the other trader have a positive experience trading with you. Once you have established yourself with the above qualities, due to having proven yourself in trades.

No, I think the point he's trying to make is something I've noticed too. The thing says you need eight reps to become a verified seller - and I do have nine - but when I sent in my application, I was told to get more. I just don't understand why you put eight as the amount you need, and then send people back to get more.

Tl;dr: I dislike how it says eight but they want you to get more.
Please don't mistake this as a "rage" post, I just don't like the current system but will abide with it.

We put at least 8 because it depends on multiple factors. If we didn't put any minimum number think of how many additional applications omahanime and I would receive. I'd probably get 30+ a week if there wasn't anything. Also remember that the more refs you have, the better your chance of your application being approved.

I know this has been said before, but we really need the VG tutoring back. I've seen players around this forum who want to get into VG, so in order to keep them hooked, we need to teach them the competitive aspects of the game, and how to team build, etc. I know the problem is that we have so few tutors, but I wouldn't mind tutoring people for the lower tiers like RU.

Please take this into consideration. We need the VG tutoring back in order to keep up the VG activity.

You do know there has never been a successful VG tutoring program yet, right? Every one so far has been a complete failure - even the other VG moderators can back me up on this one. We shouldn't risk our time on something that's been a failure before. That's not how things work; we should be trying things that have proven to be successful in the past.

Hmm... I haven't played competitively for over a year (and last time I played actually serious was after B/W got released in Japan), so I'm totally lost on where to start. I asked for advice once on another forum, but nobody answered. Someone who actually knows much about recent stuff could write a few articles for sure. (On the current state of the metagame.)

I know there has to be a minimum number of reps you must have to be a vertified seller, but I doubt anyones gotten to be a seller with the minimum number of reps

I'm a big activist for VG tutoring, but I really don't think its needed. I've had lots of personal requests from people that want tutoring from me. VG mods are supposed to basically be tutors. If people approach us, there's no need to start a program that says "Hey. Come to me if you want tutoring!". If you want to help people, let them know. Put something in your signature that tells people that you would be able to teach them in RU.

And don't worry about a lack of activity. We're all working hard to keep things going. Just have patience.

I've noticed an increase in people asking for trades and battles in the chat. We've been able to redirect them to the Master Wi-Fi thread, but most don't seem too enthralled to use a thread for their trading/battling needs.

Any chance we can expand this system? Trading and battling is where Pokemon shines and what the game's all about, and it's a shame to see it get so little attention.

As you probably know, we had a whole forum a while back for trading and battling. Long story short it dwindled down to people not using it enough. It didn't make sense to use all of that space for a handful of people. That can be done in a thread. We also had a trading/battling chat room for a while too, which was rarely used.

If someone wishes to challenge this, be my guest. I would not object to bringing back a trading forum, but something like a petition with plenty of active users signing it would have to be presented in order for that to happen.

The main issue I see with "expanding" our focus on trading and battling is the fact there's been very little consistency with the amount of people looking for trades / battles at any given time. There's just not a huge amount of people on constantly looking for a trade or battle, so every once in a while there will be a person or two looking for something, but they're never on at the same time so they just look elsewhere.

All of the attempts in the past to include a Wi-Fi channel in the chat have produced the result mentioned above - there would be a few people who joined every once in a while, but they were almost never on at the same time and so they could never find anyone who wanted to trade / battle.

I don't mean to sound like I'm trying to kill the notion of trying to draw in more people for trades / battles, I'm just stating my opinion on the matter based on what I've seen in the past. I agree it'd be nice to have a better service available for those who want to trade / battle through this site, but it's hard to get one going with such inconsistent activity.

Edit: Ninja'd by a glittering thunder beast!

Hey, how about adding in the age division we're in? It's on the left side every time we post so people know instantly what age division we are in.

I can't speak for KA as he would probably be the one that would have to implement that, but I personally don't see how it would help for anything, and it would be very hard (if not impossible) to code in.

You have been pm about your application. If anyone else has concerns about the Verified Sellers program, please pm me. Thank You.

Possible yes, but each player would have to update their profile. I can make the field appear so members can update it.

Just wondering, what would be the point? Age group can be determined by age.

Some members don't want their exact birthday known. More members would be comfortable stating which division they are in.

Would it be an icon that only appears if one chooses the age group on their profile, or would their be a default Icon for everyone that can be changed?

I think it would be a good idea to let people know what age division they are in. It would be an easy way for people who play VGC or the TCG to find opponents on a server or game or TCG online who are in their age group. Then, they can play in a more realistic battling situation, since older players tend to have more experience than younger kids who are new or less experienced in the game.

It could be something like a Squirtle for Junior, Warortle for Senior, and Blastoise for Masters. Or with some other cool 3 stage, water type evo line. Maybe with these sprites [sprite]7[/sprite] and a JR,SR,MS beside it or something. it shouldn't be as large as the Member,Moderator, Super Moderator bars, IMO.
