What Can Be Done to Improve PokeBeach Forums?

Suggestion noted. We'll see about updating with a new threads button sometime in the near future.

The old forum layout did have icons, but we have since changed that.
I don't find it a problem.
Well yes, I don't find it a problem NOW, either, as I already KNOW, where it is. But as you can see several people did not find it at first.
The user / user friendliness should be the starting point with any good (product/)layout.

It's like I highlighted the text and it's trying to tell me how ugly it is!

Ah well, a partial fix is better than no fix at all.

Actually, the colors it's been changed to are inverted in terms of highlighting colors (probably so you can know when you're highlighting it, lol).

I keep trying to unclick the highlighted text every time I enter a forum. Really annoying. Better colors are in order.

I find that strange, because my understanding of a human's tendancy to notice color contrast would mean having a blue New Thread button on an orange bar would grab more attention than dark brown font on same orange bar.

This so much.

It's a step in the right direction. Once the white is gone, I will be happier.

dmaster out.

Having the blue against the normal background makes it hard to read still. I think it partly has to do with the image that gets repeated.

How about this color for the text?

scaled.php

While the I used font isn't exact to the font used on PB, I find the current blue a bit too light.

Red would blend into well with the orangish background as it's dark orange/brown on the top.

I like the blue a lot now. My eyes immediately found it even though I didn't want to. The most important difference is that there's no white which burned my eyes before, which is good. I approve!

Edit: ...And now it's back to the old color. Oh well. Progress is as progress does.

dmaster out.

I wan't complaining about the change to the "Make a new thread" button before, but I like this blue version ALOT better than the version with the white around it, but, I do have a small problem. When I read blue text or bright red text, it hurts my eyes really badly for some reason, I can deal with this but I think for the sake of other users who may have the same problem, it could stand to be a little bit darker shade of blue. Thanks in advance.

I've been thinking of this lately. Don't know if you mods would approve of it but I think having a place where people introduce themselves will be better and make them feel more welcome in PokeBeach. This is just an idea. :)

We had that at one point, and it just became sort-of useless iirc.

I've been seeing a lot of new members lately. But don't know if the mods will approve of it.

There are always lots of new members...

Just comment on their profile. Extra forums make it slower to load, so have pointless forums make it hard to load for no reason.

@Typhlo Wolf: Yeah, the introduction forum turned really spammy after a while, so it got axed during one of the forum reorganizations we had some time ago. The profile comments were added to sort of alleviate that the issue of not being able to welcome new members, so there's no real point in bringing the introduction forum back since so many people use profile comments now anyways.
