What Can Be Done to Improve PokeBeach Forums?

There should be full mobile support. I don't like having to zoom in and load every single thing. iPhones are used pretty often, so you should look into that.

That's like, extremely low on the priority list. There's so much things that need attention rather than aesthetics.

^It's still a valid suggestion though.

I think that there are MyBB plugins that would enable users to browse the website using mobile devices but... what RB said. I suppose the focus of this thread is improving the community first rather than the technical/aesthetic side?

I already think this is the best forum on the web, but here are some things I think would make the PokeBeach Forums better:

- More TCG News and General Discussion mods
- 2 or 3 More Trade Council Members
- A "Like" Button (It would stop a lot of spammy posts, that's for sure.)

I agree about the more Trade Counsil members.

All mods mod the general discussion area (iirc)

Currently, myself and the rest of the VG staff are coming up with an action plan to restore the VG forums to their former glory. Before we form a proper plan we must first identify what we intend to fix and improve, which is where you guys come in.

What would you like to see? What needs changing? What direction would you like to see the VG forums go in? Please accompany your post with reasoning.

As a team we already have a large number of ideas, but as one of my aims is to increase community participation, I'd love to hear your thoughts too. Every post will be considered.

While agree this is a decent forum, there are vastly better forums where a thread like this isn't even necessary. Titan Quest, Smashboards, etc.

For those who are wondering...

You wish me return to mod the TCG section?

My answer is still no.

Boy, good thing you clarified, I could hardly concentrate above the clamors wondering if you would grace our staff with your presence once more.

Because the last couple times you were TCG staff that went so well.

I mean really, you seem to cause more beach drama than help resolve it.

Gee, if the staff asked me if I wanted to regain my modship, I'd gladly accept and help Apollo fix up the Writing Corner (it honestly wouldn't make too much of a difference we're just working together right now anyhow). I wouldn't have thought that someone could be so conceited and assume that people want him back, but the internet continues to prove me wrong.

We will be working on being more transparent with the members. Members should know about opportunities to help and contribute to the community. I feel that in the past we have failed to do this when certain projects came to a standstill. However, this isn't saying that getting members involved is the fix for everything. As seen with the Cerulean, people volunteered and then the magazine feel apart due to work not being done/done on time and lack of interest. For the community to accomplish something we will have to work together, and the right people will have to take charge of something and follow through. I am already planning a Skype meeting where members are allowed to come join in a chat with the mods and more. Going forward I want to see more meshing of the staff with the members. Together I feel like we could really accomplish something. Solely relying on staff members for things isn't going to cut it. We all have to work together.
Major contradiction there. The fact that members weren't involved to begin with was the reason that magazine failed. You can't completely give the benefit of the doubt to everyone and expect them to actually do what they say they would do. I personally feel that it's mostly left to the member whether or not they'll actually get things done, and it's the staff's job to find these dedicated members and give them the recognition and opportunity they deserve. I understand how it's important to let the staff be more accessible to members, but you need to look out there and see which members are actually helping out and try to get them to work with you first, because they are the ones more likely to give promising results.

There should be a VGC subforum underneath Generation 5 Competitive Play.

Interest in the VGC is widespread enough that there may be members of the Pokebeach community who want the VGC represented in the video game forum. Creating such a forum will add to the depth of the video game forum and may jump start a VGC community on Pokebeach.

Right now we have a thread for the discussion of VGC. I'm not sure how many topics you could really bring up that you couldn't in the current thread.

More staff - member interaction. And not in a bad way.

And also, why do people keep getting modded, half the moderaters we have don't even do anything.

Yeah, I'd definitely like to promote VGC more. Expect a tournament up soon ; )

Other than super mods we need regular moderators to be more in charge of more than just one particular forum. This means be in charge of 2 forums rather than just one.

Also the staff really needs to listen to us members especially when there is going to be major forum arrangements and give more time for everyone to respond. The last one there was not enough time for me to put my 2 cents into our last forum arrangement.

Have idea that make more sense rather than going though with the bad ideas which don't always turn out the way they should.:)

Regular mods are now global. We can mod everything if see an adbot or something. But we generally stick to our strengths, and are assigned areas that we are able to best moderate.

Well if you have anything that you need to bring up, you can always post it here. We are making the best attempts to communicate and get the community involved with as much as possible.

Is there any chance we can still fix the clans and clubs and the trading forums? If so what are your plans for the future for doing this? Thanks.:)
