I guess I'm one of those normal people. I'm friends with the "popular" people, but also with the others who aren't in that group. I haven't told anybody I like Pokemon except my best friends, but if it comes up in a conversation and a person asks me if I play, I'm not going to be ashamed and say "No I don't like it".
Why would you be? And why don't you tell anyone? I thought you were banned?

Yeah I know! They'll say something dirty about you on then go around telling everyone that you're some sort of baby but really, I mean seriously!! I play pokemon because it's a toned down, less violent version of yu-gi-oh!
Get some friends who know about Pokemon and make fun of them by snickering and ignoring them while talking to your friend about IVs and EVs and Natures!

Yugioh=
Too expensive
Too card based not skill based
Yugioh players are known for cheating and stealing (not all of them)

Back on topic:
I don't know what people's reactions would be like. I'm scared to find out
And...why? What bad could they possibly say about Pokemon? My 11 year old neighbor Rajah(He's VERY IRRITATING and quite stupid, but he says everything and everyone is person. What a little hypocrite!) said Pokemon's for babies. So...I simply asked him why. My friend Addison(an older teen) was supporting me and Rajah could never give a real, straight answer, and the whole time he was showing how ignorant he really was!

I am not in high school anymore but a couple of friends stareted playing pokemon cards RIGHT in the middle of our college cafeteria and NOW nearly every table is being taken up by card games of some sort (Pokemon, Magic, Yugioh). Heck we have been KICKED OUT of the cafeteria for playing Pokemon Cards
LOL! But why?

PENNY POWER. You just don't get it! Believe it or not, in many places (California for me) people think pokemon is VERY lame, dumb, and immature!!! Especially immature... It sucks. I know. WE think it's cool, but few other people do. But honestly, I have no clue how there's a place where all of 8th grade doesn't make fun of pokemon. Just stop telling us that people think pokemon is cool and won't laugh at us, because in many places in the US, pokemon is severely made fun of. You could come see for yourself if you wanted.

EDIT: And it never really does come up in conversation with people, "Do you like pokemon?", because everybody thinks that nobody (at this age at least) even plays it.

I don't tell anyone because nobody has ever asked. Why bring it up when I don't have to? It's like if you're in the middle of a conversation and you blurt out you like cheese toast. It just doesn't work that way. ;P And me banned? I think you have me confused with someone else. :3

i certainly agree . my friends do not bother asking me aswell about tcg issues since i'm known to our school, they wouldnt think that i play it. and there is no way you can stop those people who laugh at us because we play pokemon. its the fact that people has that kind of mentality over pokemon.

off topic : hey meaty how old are you anyway?

Stranger Danger! :p lol jk I'm in 8th grade, almost 14, and in the Mid-Northern CA area. 8th grade is a bad age in terms of people making fun of you for just about anything and for bad mentality over pokemon. th grade seemed to be the worst though... Anyway on a side-note this morning on the school bus I heard a 6th and 7th grader talking about pokemon cards, and I didn't bother like catching their attention and saying anything since they didn't sound like they were quite my level of knowledge/interest anyway, but if somebody was talking to me and asking if I liked pokemon (at least not in a way that seems like they were mocking it) I wouldn't deny it.

lol NICE. That's the kind of environment I'd like to be in once I graduate. Pokemon's become routine for me; every day before lunch, me and my best friend whip out our cards and play for 20-30 minutes just to wind down after a grueling half day of high school.

Anyway, my high school's kinda weird. Being a nerd (especially a Pokemon nerd) is perfectly acceptable, even by the jocks, the ghettoes, and the "normal" people. Nobody picks on you if you happen to obsess over certain video games or card games; they sometimes even watch you play. I like it here.

I really don't fit into the cluques. I usually drift from group to group, whichever one happens to have the most to offer.

Current one: "Lesser Nerds" (Not the A+++, however not extreamly popular)

I'm the fat kid. I have weird friends and normal friends.
I eat lunch with the popular, but most of them think they're cool when they are (insert bad word here).
Only my "real" friends know I play pokemon.
Some people find me annoying, but they don't know me.
So yeah...
