XY What do you think Gen 6's "gimmick" will be?

I wouldn't be surprised if something utilized the 3D function. Maybe mini-games or something. I could see Pokeathlon making great use of this.
Character customization might be a big selling point.

I herd that X and Y stand for Dimensions. I don't know why everyone here keeps on saying Chromosomes.

define chromosome: A threadlike structure of nucleic acids and protein found in the nucleus of most living cells.
X and Y are the letters that determine gender.

No one thinks it will have anything to do with Pokemon-Trainer bonds?

They seemed to make a big deal of it in the reveal video. You know, moreso than usual. In a series like Pokemon, the idea of making such a thing as bonding with your partners into a functional, practical mechanic seems like a given.

Shin Megami Tensei: Personamon X and Y.

You know what would be better than Quadruple, Quintuple, and whatever?

Three sided battles.

I don't think a new battle style should be the focus of the game, though.

Maybe Streetpass will be used for things like battles. For example, if you streetpass with another person there could be a place you go to battle a CPU using team they had.(kind of like Join Avenue but for battling?)

They've done something like that in GSCHGSS, the Trainer House, remember?

And yeah, this is exactly what I was thinking.

Oh yeah, i forgot about the trainer house. Maybe because I never had anyone to do that with.

Anyways adding on to using streetpass, maybe there could be a menu where you see all the trainer cards of all the people you've streetpassed with.

A new battle mechanism that allows your Pokémon to become even more powerful when the bonds you share grow stronger.

This sounds like a hint to me! What do you think, guys?

If I were to stick a guess into it, I'd say that Happiness is going to play a larger role in 6th gen. It always just seemed kind of a tacked on mechanic: 2 TMs and a few evolutions require it, and that's about it. A few possibilities: more EVs for higher happiness (maybe even some way of affecting IVs?), learning moves earlier for higher happiness, better avoidance/defense.

I'd like it if this were true. Maybe they could up the stat bonus and decrease the stat penalty the nature provides based on happiness.

I have a weird feeling that this is going to include some kind of fusion. They give you a couple of special Pokémon that are able to fuse, just a few (5?) basic Pokémon. With the DNA themed titles I can see this happen. Don't know if I will like it though. They have done crazier stuff in the past.

I don't hope so, but if they do; I told you so.

Friendship.
...
No, seriously, friendship. That one line in the trailer is pretty convincing, and going with Masuda's recent post...well, yeah.

But with what Pokewiz is saying...multiplayer (as in cooperative, 'you join my game' type of cooperation) would definitely be amazing. It would also go along well with the friendship thing quite well.

I'm guessing that the 3D Battles are enough of a gimmick. The friendship-thing will probably happen too, because of all the hints. I doubt there will be anymore, but if there are, maybe new types (speculated Sound and Light?), a new variant (like Shinies), and/or returning to Unova. It's a bit outrageous. but I'm drawing parrallels to Gen 2. Gen 5 was the 'new' Gen 1, so maybe this could be the 'new' Gen 2?

If this is true about how friendship will affect the Pokemon, then I think I can go ahead and throw my Frustration TM out the window with great Frustration.

A new type wouldn't be so bad along with the friendship mechanic I suppose as well. I honestly grow tired of seeing these same Eevee-lutions.

Seriously though, so long as we still have reusable TMs, I'm chill.

Inb4 quadruple battles.

Quadripl.....dang he got it in before me

I would imagine they might expound on those out of place things that they had in bw/bw2, attack combinations (I forget the attack names but like grass oath and fire oath used together), more triple battles (probably some other rediculous addition to how it works).

I have been waiting for a three type pokemon, I though we would get it with black and white Kyurem buuuut I guess not

Kind of a shot in the dark, but I'm hoping this "pokemon grow more powerful than ever through bonding" means you can raise their stats beyond their established maxes with enough hard work, until it's a little more like the anime in that even a "weak," unevolved pokemon can, through time and effort, stand a fair chance against even a legendary.

The more powerful the pokemon already is, of course, the more limited that should be; I'd want to see a system that just equalizes and balances them more.

I also think wi-fi updates and downloadable content are a long time coming. They should be able to add new pokemon and locations whenever they want, rather than waiting years between generations.

There would never be any logical reason for a three type pokemon, it wouldn't add any balance to the game (quite the opposite) or give the pokemon any better advantage than any two-type combo. Abilities are already used to express additional elemental properties beyond that.
