Pokemon What do you want to see in the 6th gen. games?

Adding a 5th moveslot for HMs wouldn't solve much. That would mean you would only have access to 6 HMs at most, so if there's more than 6 HMs or if none of your team can learn one or more of the HMs, you still have to switch Pokemon out. What they need to do is either make the HMs more useful in and out of battle, or make it so HMs can be used without wasting moveslots.

Well I did also include them being erasable... so while your starter would be the Cutter first few gyms...it would probably be using Strength or smth later in the game.

But I have a better idea now.

You walk up to water/obstacle/divingSpot/whatever and hit A.
Asks whether you want to use HM xy.
YES
Asks you to choose a Pokemon capable of using it (or automatically picks the first in order that can use it)
The HM is executed without the Pokemon actually having to learn it permanently.

Of course you could still teach them those manually as actual moves.

A Join Avenue styled Mall. As in you get your own mall at some point, manage shops and what they sell, and try to get more people interested in it.

New type combinations, pokemon with better stats.

And like Bolt the Cat said, more variety in moves.

They could really do with a revision of some of the older pokemon's movesets and stats. Its really dumb how you have to wait to level 70 or something to teach Leafeon Leaf Blade, the eeveelutions need a STAB move they can actually learn around the level you receive it, many older pokemon are completely useless versions of their Unova counterparts (looking at your Sandslash).

And if they add in HM Dive, make an underwater map.

Finishing the Eeveelutions, or at least the types that were originally in the special category like dragon.

With Mitja on the Ice type with actual resistances,

An area like the Battle Fronteir, with the PWT, and a place to EV Train.

As for starters:
Starters that are equal in power, not completely scewed on way like Infernape was with Torterra and Empoleon
A non Fighting type Fire type
A grass type with decent stats, not uselessly fast like Snivy or mediocre like the others.
A speedy Water type

Location based Pokeballs, available post-game. Ones for mountains, forests, the ocean, etc.

Give Ice types a Defense boost in Hail like the Special Defense boost does for Rock types.

A weather band item that keeps a pokemon from being affected by weather.

New abilities that basically allow a third type, basically giving the pokemon STAB for another type without the weakness or resistances.
e.g. Aquatic - Water type STAB, but not weak or resistant to the types a normal water type would

Make use of the stereotypical pokemon. If they are gonna have the standard bird, make it like Staraptor, the Rattata 2.0 needs to be more than an HM Slave,

What if you could move a Pokemon to another ball and have the old one destroyed. Lets people move pokemon but also keeps them from getting infinite Master Balls.

Make things HMs destroy/fix permanent. If you cut a tree, it stays cut for good. Make HMs seperate.

As far as movesets, what if Pokemon could have say 6 moves but could only use 4 different ones per battle?

And like Bolt the Cat said, more variety in moves. See above

They could really do with a revision of some of the older pokemon's movesets and stats. That would be nice too because I hate having to learn moves in lvl. 60/70 unless they are TM's

And if they add in HM Dive, make an underwater map. No real reason and it actually gives you surprises though it would be useful.

Finishing the Eeveelutions, or at least the types that were originally in the special category like dragon. I reallywant this.

With Mitja on the Ice type with actual resistances, I would like to take away the Bug resistance from ghosts for Spiritomb and Sableye to have at least 1 weakness.

An area like the Battle Fronteir, with the PWT, and a place to EV Train. It sounds nice to have a place where you can EV train twice as faster.

As for starters:
Starters that are equal in power, not completely scewed on way like Infernape was with Torterra and Empoleon I don't see much problem with having starters slightly better than outhers if the gap isn't too much
A non Fighting type Fire typeno need to reply to this
A grass type with decent stats, not uselessly fast like Snivy or mediocre like the others. All usable would be better.
A speedy Water type Not so important IMO but nice

Location based Pokeballs, available post-game. Ones for mountains, forests, the ocean, etc. There were some in Sinnoh like the Dusk Ball, Net Ball and (I think) the Dive Ball.

Give Ice types a Defense boost in Hail like the Special Defense boost does for Rock types.I must agree

A weather band item that keeps a pokemon from being affected by weather.Nice too but some abilities already do this

New abilities that basically allow a third type, basically giving the pokemon STAB for another type without the weakness or resistances.
e.g. Aquatic - Water type STAB, but not weak or resistant to the types a normal water type wouldThat would be too good to have the STAB without weaknesses

What if you could move a Pokemon to another ball and have the old one destroyed. Lets people move pokemon but also keeps them from getting infinite Master Balls. There would be no point on doing that

Make things HMs destroy/fix permanent. If you cut a tree, it stays cut for good. Make HMs seperate. If you move the boulder in a cave accidentally passing where it should have been, you have no way to get back

As far as movesets, what if Pokemon could have say 6 moves but could only use 4 different ones per battle?Maybe 5?

Right, because 6th gen will totally be exactly like 5th gen in every way.

I don't know how gen 6 will be nor I'm saying it will be like like gen 5 (Of course, it won't). What I know is that with each new gen, there are more and more people complaining about the new pokémon (that they look stupid, or they don't look like a Pokémon or that they look like digimon, that they're running out of ideas, bla bla bla), people that call themselves fans of this franchise... So why will it be any different when gen 6 arrives?

It'd be neat if they combined Join Avenue with the usual Department Store.

They fixed the Eeveelutions' movesets in BW2, FYI, they made it so their entire moveset can be learned by Lv. 50. So don't worry as much about timing, that's something they examine in every game. I was more referring to the amount of moves available. A lot of people complain about Flareon not learning Flare Blitz, for example, but the real underlying problem isn't that Flareon can't learn that particular move, but that there aren't too many powerful physical Fire type moves to begin with. Look at the list of Fire type moves, and then look at how many physical moves there are. At least 2/3 of them are special moves. Now look at how strong most of them are. There aren't too many options for strong physical moves there. Maybe the solution isn't that Flareon needs Flare Blitz, but maybe we could give it a new Fire type move that would be equally viable. If you take a look at the other types, the options are skewed heavily towards whichever category the entire type used to originally be (physical types have more physical moves, special types have more special moves). Which makes sense, but it's something that needs to be fixed to allow for more diversity.

They don't give you a map of land routes, so why should they give you a map of underwater routes?

Ghost resisting Bug doesn't really make much sense anyway.

I'm just hoping for a few things:

1. Post-game storyline (as others have mentioned). The game ends quickly and it's all too easy to lose interest in the simple things they leave you with after the story. (e.g. battle subway, "movie making", musicals, etc.). My post game highlight after B/W1 was battling Cynthia in Undella Town, which is kind of below expectations when you consider it's just one battle. I want them to do something similar to what they did with gold and silver, how you could beat the elite 4 and then hop over to explore Kanto and attain those badges. And of course, challenge Red. I would love to see a second story go on after the main story, though.

2. More difficult trainers, gym leaders and Elite Four. I suppose the regular trainers you come across are fine, idk. But I want nothing more than to be more challenged when battling the computer. None of the games so far have really offered that challenge. If they can just advance their technology and make me feel like I'm battling a real and experienced person, I would be one happy camper. But maybe that is just wishful thinking.

3. Never make a Pokémon's final evolution at level 64 again (*cough* Deino* cough*) For some reason I feel like someone is going to bash me for saying this, but I just prefer to have my Hydreigon before the game ends. I can deal with lvl 64, but lets hope they don't go further than that.

4. INCREASE the rate a which certain natures pop up when breeding Pokémon. Please.

GSCHGSS didn't really have much of a storyline once you got to Kanto. JS. I wouldn't mind a few post game sidequests like the sage quest in BW1, though.

This, this, this. The gym leader and Elite 4 AI is too low, all they do is spam their TM moves and/or use the most powerful moves they have at their disposal. That's not remotely challenging at all. They need to start using and encouraging more complex strategies.

A line of text apologizing for Gen 5.

Also couldn't care less about new Pokemon, just the Hoenn remakes but not as a 3DS exclusive. I don't want to buy a region locked 3DS just to play MR/AS on what is essentially the same thing.

Wow... This is just ridiculous... Apologizing for Gen 5? Don't care about new Pokémon? Then what are you even doing here? This thread is about "what do you wish for gen 6?", what do you think will be the main focus of gen 6? New pokémon obviously. But if you didn't like Gen V, I don't expect you to like Gen 6 either...

No, I do not care much for the newer Pokemon. Many of their designs don't appeal to me. I like a handful (Zoroark, Hydreigon Samurott etc...), but not nearly as many as the other generations. But the Pokemon aren't the main reason why I dislike the 5th gen although they do play a rather large role.
And I'm sorry for showing an interest in a series that I have stuck by for almost 10 years. I have played many other series that have had good and bad games in the past and I still forgive and stand by them. A very good example of this would be Castlevania. Do you think I would treat Pokemon any different?
I don't care about any new Pokemon introduced in Gen 6. I really don't. If I happen to like some of them then that's a bonus but Pokemon seems to be going towards a story oriented game. The existence of a direct sequel proves this. Many people are talking about post-game related content, not the Pokemon.

Metalizard said:
Oh, and then there's the RS remakes which is the only thing you care apparently, but not only for 3DS, so I guess you mean, you want them to be compatible with the old DS. Genious... That's totally what we need right now...

And having a 2D game in 3D is so special why? Pokemon doesn't need to be in 3D. Fact. I don't want to churn out that amount of money for "A REGION LOCKED 3DS", for my eyes to hurt after I play it for more than 5 seconds and just for the one, maybe two, game(s).

Doesn't need to be in 3D, they could still do sprites if they really want. But they do need to move to the 3DS soon, they can't stay on the DS forever.

No, I agree completely. But what I was essentially saying there is that they at least had a lot more for you to do (gym wise if nothing else) after you completed the main story. If not another storyline, It would be nice if they at least did that.

@Everyone

Please continue the awesome discussion, but do your best to hold the negative sarcasm. Thanks.

Post game gyms are kind of pointless, though. Besides, you usually have gym leader rematches, and that's good enough, IMO.

A lot of that is pointless nitpicking, but there's good reasons to hate on the 5th gen Pokemon. For instance, most of the Pokemon strongly resemble past gen Pokemon to the point where one might consider them "clones". Kind of defeats the purpose of starting fresh with "new" Pokemon.

ES spoke! Respect!
...And he's right.
Well, concerning new Pokemon, we can't possibly expect new ideas all the time. There is a total of 649 Pokemon, so it's only natural. Almost each version has its own Normal raccoon-squirrel , its Normal-Flying Bird, its Dragon pseudo-legendary etc. Eventually, even Ken rans out of ideas.
But still, I expect Gen VI or RSE remakes (whatever) to take advantage of 3DS. The DS era is over. Time to see Pokemon from a different view. If not for 3D battles, then at least a 3D environment would be good. Imagine a handheld game with environment and battles similar to those of Colosseum-XD-Battle Revolution. And in 3D. I think it would be worth its money.

How do you fly now?

If you're responding to my post,

You use HM Fly (instead of teaching it as a permanent move)
Pick a Fly-capable Pokemon on your team (ala a bird etc)
and choose destination.

frostwind said:

Eeveelutions werent based on the types that were special. The types that were used simply happened to be special. You know why? Because apart from Dragon, they were all types with interesting elemental aspects.
As that is what Eevee is. A pet that gains full elemental abilities depending on exposure. So no.
The only type left that gives me an elemental vibe would be the wind-aspect of Flying, but I seriously doubt that's gonna happen.

frostwind said:

What do you mean?
Infernape could one-hit both of them with a STAB move.
But so can they...
the only imbalance is that Empoleon needs an Ice-move TM to have something against Torterra.

That is pretty much as balanced as starters ever got in Pokémon history, especially with all those fancy second types in play.

frostwind said:

Yeah, that fixes any issues my suggestion raised.

Would love to have the new games go to 3D models. Also with fly I would like it if you actually had to fly to that location. Maybe make it like Skyward sword and you can use the gyro whatchamacallit to steer and fly to the town. Maybe even have Join Avenue in the largest city of the region and have it wifi and let people go to trade battle take requests and shop. Bring back the VS seeker and give it a darker story. Zelda games and Pokemon have the same rating and we got a dark Zelda a few times. not saying it has to be really dark or anything but you know. Maybe they could even use streetpass. Like you can pick maybe 3 or 4 pokemon and if you pass someone with one of those pokemon they can do battle. Or allow your team to mingle with a passing trainer on the go. That way may you can get an item they have or exp from the pokemon playing/training with each other. Maybe make AR cards and have it have a cross play feature with an upcoming Pokemon game for the Wii U. Taking a pic of yourself and that being your trainer would be great. All just my ideas

I'd like to see the following:

The return of the HGSS menu. I love that the touch screen was actually useful, in addition to the easy access registered items and auto-run.

Speaking of HGSS, walking Pokemon was a cool addition and I'd like to at least return as an option.

A region that is diverse geographically and isn't practically a straight line *cough*Unova*cough*. I prefer for it to be big, but not slow and boring like Sinnoh was.

Some sort of VS Seeker system

Version differences that actually matter besides a couple of exclusive Pokemon. RS did this well and BW2 was on the right track with Opelucid, eyecatches, and the battle thingies.

Good Pokemon distribution. I don't want another DP Sinnoh with only two Fire types or another Kanto with only one Ghost and one Dragon line.

Customizable player characters. I'm not asking for a massive full blown character creator, although that would be cool. I'd just rather not have a beret, scarf, pineapple hair, or Leia buns.

Do we really need to wear special running shoes in order to be able to run?

HM's need to go. Either make them forgettable, or make them key items.

More difficulty; BW2 challenge mode is a step in the right direction, but it doesn't quite cut it.

Renaming the Grass type to Plant and the Steel type to Metal would make more sense.

Enough with the event Pokemon.

IV's are just an annoying waste of time that need to go or be made easier to get what you want.

I want a better story. I want the choices I make in the story to matter. I want an evil team that's intimidating, sense-making, and makes you think more about morality than "BAD GAIZ R BAD". BW did the third part better than the previous games *cough*Hoenn*cough*, but in the end we got another generic villain and an evil team that was full of incompetent idiots.

The metagame needs more balancing; weather and Dragon types need to take a hit, we need more Special Dark, uff Steel, and Fighting moves and more Physical Psychic moves for example. We still hardly have any decent Ghost and Bug moves at all

Some types need weakness/resistance buffs and debuffs. Poison and Steel are terrible offensive types and Ice and Rock are terrible defensive types. This could easily be taken care of by making Poison Super Effective against Bug, Normal, or Dragon types or Steel being Super Effective against Ground, Dragon, Grass, Bug or Normal types. Fighting and Dragon are currently way too good at everything, with Water and Ground not too far behind.

3D graphics would be nice. Super detailed and realistic Pokemon would just look weird, though. I prefer it cartoony. Something like PBR would be nice graphics-wise.

Speaking of graphics, I want to see the Pokemon actually do the moves and get hit by them.

I want something to do after you beat the Elite Four. The game basically ends there with nothing left to do besides catch them all or do the Battle Frontier.

More minigames would be nice. The Pokeathlon and Pokestar Studios were great, Hoenn contests were decent, but Sinnoh contests and musicals were just dumb.

New and unused typing instead of the 8 millionth Normal/Flying.

Will probably add more later.

i want it so u can talk to ur pikachu. itll be very qt.^_^ yay pikachu :)

less random trainer battles. early game trainer battles can be fun but they become an extreme slog later on. maybe make more of them optional?

more exploration. I love wandering around and stumbling upon something like a cave or an alternate route. that's cool.

optional gym order. you could do some gyms in whichever order you wanted (like Koga and Sabrina in RBY). they could very easily just set gym leader levels/moves based on number of badges.

I also liked in the original BW how you fought Ghetsis instead of the Champion at the end of the game. it always felt odd to me that the climax of the game was several major battles before the end, and it makes me lose motivation towards the end.

Seriously wish you could customise your trainer appearance. It's not difficult, adds more collectable goodness to the game, and makes WiFi battles a little more interesting.

Being able to see a Pokemon's hold item in battle!
