What should I play for _________?

Hi guys, I'm looking for a decklist that would be good for someone trying to break into the competitive scene. I have experience with competitive TCGs, but something not overly complex until I learn the nuances of the game's mechanics would be nice.

A member of chat named DNA suggested Vilegar and it seems like a pretty good suggestion but I was just looking to see if people have any more :>

edit: oh and I should note money is not an issue!

Hi.

And yes, the reason I suggested Vilegar not only because it can hold its own, but the strategy is simple enough that you can jump into it right away. A sample Vilegar list can be found here - the list isn't perfect and it may need to be tweaked slightly (e.g. using Judge instead of Looker's Investigation, possibly), but it is the basic effective Vilegar list.

Metagame: Luxchomp/dialga,vilegar,gyarados,lostgar

What i can play: post-hgss decks only (no cards from pre-hgss)
 
You might be in the rough, as no really good decks can function without Bebe's Search and Uxie/Azelf LA. All of those are League Promos and thus can be easily obtained. As for HS-on decks, Jumpluff and Donphan are two options that you can use.

Metagame: Luxchomp/dialga, vilegar, gyarados, sablock.

What i can play: gengar SF variations, or pretty much anything that isn't crazy expensive


I'm trying to figure out what deck i want to run for regionals. Right now i have a gengar/umbreon variation, and it is way too situational. I can beat my friends luxchomp one match and lose to a very badly made feraligatr deck. I'm thinking of making a Vileplume variation, maybe even Magneplume. Suggestions?

What I can play : Vilegar, Kingphan, Poormans Luxchomp (3x Luxray AR, 1x Luxray LA, 2x Garchomp C)

I am trying to decide what to play, all the meta game decks are owned by 2 people. So there is pretty much every meta deck available to them but obviously they can only play 1 each on the day hahaha! Everything else will mainly be rogue decks.
 
I agree, Vilegar would be your best option. Kingphan just can't stand up to the metagame as much Vilegar can. Fainting spell can wreck on Gyarados and really hurts Magnerock. Sablelock can get destroyed under trainer lock.
 
Yeah! Can't deny how sexy vilegar is :p! Allright well I should go post my decklist and see what tweaks I can make to it to perfect it abit! I think I will save kingphan for after rotation when my SF gengar gets taken away!!! Am gonna miss rolling him
 
If you set up your Plume faster than they can get their gyarados out then you pretty much win, unless they get regice out. Just be faster then them.
 
^If they get Regice out, all you need to do is have 2 Tombs in play at all times. That way Regi Move will be rendered basically useless.
 
This much is true. I'm running a variation of plume. Testing it before regionals, Hopefully it works on my meta.
 
Yeah I normally drop a second spiritomb when I see regice or magikarp hahaha! So classic! They regi move my trainer lock into more trainer lock!

After lastnight thou, am considering my luxray/garchomp Deck. It ran pretty good lastnight at my local after alot of play testing
 
depends on what meta you trained against. If you play against another luxchomp specially one with promocroak then you will probably get destroyed. If your vilegar is completely made i'd go with that, its a very nice deck besides for the mirror.
 
yeah its pretty much 100% complete

Only thing I don't Have is SF Gastlys incase I get stuck with a gastly and no tomb at the start >_< and don't have any way to get any SF Gastlys between now and then! Oh well, will just have to hope that I don't get stuck due to that!
