YGZ and Mega man are probably the safest you can get.
The lists of other players at PA states in seniors only had one Jolteon, and there were 2-3 in cut. MegaMan can run Raikou to do a ton of damage and tank attacks on a non-EX.
They are fairly cheap now, you could easily pick up a couple more from your LGS for 2-3$ a piece. And you probably don't need more than 2 to run in Mega Man. As for Jolteon EX only one is really needed, unless you really want to focus on it, then two should be played, but it's not the type of card you have to have four of to make it work.I only have 1 Raikou, and that's the problem. I don't really think I can get any more.
I know im going to either play a Garchomp variant, or my trusty M Rayquaza EX / Shaymin EX / Aegislash EX. I think Garchomp has solid matchups across the board, and is pretty much an auto win against YZG. Plus, it can still do decent against Trev as long as you play smart. I would hate to play my Ray list, and just get totally Walled on my T1 due to them having an explosive start and starting the lock right away. But it too has great matchups across the board, and my inclusion of aegislash has proven to be really good to stall if needed, since 90% of decks in format run Special Energies.
My ray list has two aegislash, so i think its enough to deal with special energy abusers, but that surprise hex maniac will hurt though. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love my ray list, its gotten me quite a few T4's at 30+ tourneys. But i also love my Maxie / Chomp list I have for standard. I think it could do really well, plus I may be dumb for not running focus sash, but muscle bands have really helped me hit those KOing Numbers, especially with Lucario EX.One thing I would say about YGZ is I think you are underestimating it by a lot. I'm probably going to play Vespiquen/Vileplume for states but I've played Garchomp my fair share too. If they run Fighting Fury Belt and Jirachi though it can be really bad for Garchomp. Jirachi can break focus sashes and and discard Strong Energy which is very important. With Fighting Fury Belt it is near impossible to OHKO Yveltal-EX. Also Baby Yveltal and Gallade are nightmares for the deck, because you can't OHKO them. Also Garchomp has a horrendous Vespiquen/Vileplume matchup unless you run Maxie's Garchomp. Even with that if they go first you have an auto-loss. Though on the other hand Garchomp has a great Night March, MegaMan, and Seismitina matchup. So I think its a gamble but if you'd like I'd recommend it . Next onto Mega Ray. Mega Ray isn't bad really. Its has a glaring weakness to YGZ but has pretty solid matchups all around if you play enough Aegislash to deal with Night March and Milotic
I will have to test with a mixture of sash and bands, my buddy plays YZG, he even got top 8 in nevada states, ill test against him.Yeah 2 Aegislash-EX should get the job done I would definitely run at least 2 Focus Sash though. You autoloss to YGZ and have a lot more trouble with Night March. TBH I'd run both but if you have to choose Focus Sash is a whole lot better
At least the focus sash will let you get off two of garchomps attacks securing the positive prize trade with a yveltal EX. Sounds good, I didn't even think about that. >.<Yeah I run 2 of both. Trust me its worth it If Yveltal can't be OHKO'd by Muscle Band they can kill 2 Garchomps with one Yveltal-EX which is very bad.
Can you PM/ post your Vileplume vespiquen list? One thing I would say about YGZ is I think you are underestimating it by a lot.
