Whats a Good Donphan counter?

Umbreon UD or Dewgong SV. Probably the best. But I found that a flailing Phanpy can easily knock out an Umbreon.

I am not narrow-minded. I give every card a chance, but if it isn't good, then I throw it to the dogs. Houndoom Prime isn't good. Simple. that's not being narrow minded, that's just fact. The fact that people are fighting me on this is ridiculous.
As soon as a card is released, it is analyzed. You see cards all over GD, being critqued by member of Pokebeach. If that card has potential, then they talk about it. If it doesn't, then it is usually just left alone. No one has ever made a thread about Bibarel SF, or Water Arceus, because they are not very good cards. Simple.
Let me get this straight, you're saying that if a card isn't played, it might still be good? are you kidding me? THAT'S THE ENTIRE POINT TO POKEMON. If a card is good, it is used. If a card is not, it is not used. You obviously are new to Pokemon, because that is common sense.
Grammar is the glue that holds together a post. Without it, your thought falls apart. People don't take you seriously if you have bad spelling/grammar skills. Trust me, grammar makes a big difference in understanding the post. I didn't understand his post, because it was poorly thought out and the message was jumbled. You're grammar was atrocious as well and made the entire post hard to read. Try a little harder next time.
Um Yes. If a card isn't played it is still good. It all depends on the situation. When Garchomp C came out. It wasn't nearly as popular as it was after DCE came out. Dialga Chomp and Luxchomp all saw Major play when DCE came out. Did you know that Garchomp, Dialga G and Luxray had all been out together for about 2 sets before DCE came out. Did that mean that Garchomp was bad? no. It was a good card but the format at its time wasn't using its true potential. Bibarel is a good Donphan counter. you say they will just retreat with Flygon or Warp point or whatever... if that happens the Bibarel player also has their options. When was the last time Flygon was popular after Luxchomp became dominant?
This is a ridiculous argument. Why would you play a stage 1 pokemon that needs double colourless energy to be effective for the purpose of destroying a single pokemon. You will almost never have the cards to pull this off, and if you do, Bibarel is going down after a single attack. I have played Donphan decks before, and a good player will have some way of swapping their active Donphan for one on the bench, whether this is switch, Flygon, or super scoop up. Then it should become immediately clear that you are screwed, because he will attack for 90 damage (60 +30 weakness) which is just 10 shy from a knock out. This problem can be solved in a number of ways, all of which are usually abused by Donphan decks. Crobat G, expert Belt, and pluspower are good examples. Either way, your tech, and keep in mind that the purpose of a tech is too immediately ruin the card you are teching against (Whether it quickly knocks out that pokemon, or just prevents it from doing any damage), has just done 20 damage and given up a prize card.
I agree with the argument that a card that is not used can still be good. But by no means whatsoever, is Bibarel SV a good tech against Donphan.

Using proper grammar and spelling ensures that people don't misinterpret what you are trying to say.

I don't agree with that. If a certain card relies on another card, then does that make the card good? Or does that make the combo good? Neither Garchomp or Luxray would be very popular if they didn't have each other and DCE. Bibarel isn't a great card, but it can use DCE in the same manner, making it a card that needs support. Donphan, for example, can survive on it's own, making it a good card. Donphan still needs support, but it can support itself. If a card isn't good, then it doesn't get recognition. If Garchomp wasn't a great combo with Luxray and DCE, then it would not get as much recognition.
Thinking like that will get you beat by some rogue deck. The most dangerous decks out there are the ones that are hardly use. If you don't see what's coming, you can easily lose. All I'm saying is that I'll laugh if someone wins a major event with houndoom prime.sturtle said:

The point I'm making is you can't be prepared for the unexpected. You can be using the best cards in the game, but then get beat by something you just didn't see coming, like oh so crappy houndoom prime. If you think using Luxchomp or whatever makes you invincible, then you are sadly mistaken.

Yeah. I went there. Bu Houndoom would need to be played well, and the only people who would play Houndoom prime would be young and gullible. And easily beatable.
