Yea at first we were all going OMG a snake with limbs when we first saw Smugleaf. But its a little weird for us to see its final form without limbs. It's just. Unnatural. Dunno how to describe it.
But that doesn't really mean I hate it or sth. I simply love all of the new stuff Gamefreak has to offer this Gen. It's simply the greatest step forward for this franchise, just like what Gen 3 was.
IMO:
Gen 1 - Ok "the one which started it all", but the environments were kind of meh, but that was mainly due to the graphical limitations of the GB back then.
Gen 2 - Erm, designs were getting better, environments were getting special, but it was kind of short in the sense that Johto was frigging small, and without post-E4 Kanto the game itself wasn't really much of something epic. Hey at least it's in colour this time round (not full-colour yet I dunno why people term Gen 2 as its in full colour)
Gen 3 - Sapphire was my first game ever, and of course I loved it simply. This is what I call full colour. Deserts, City on top of trees, mountains, lava. The plot wasn't that good, but better than catching Pokemon and selling them and taking over Kanto or a few little snobs trying to revive Team Rocket. It was about Land vs Sea now. And not forgetting my dear lil Mudkip. I loved the designs from Hoenn. (like duh) And it had the best music in the franchise (Slateport FTW)
Gen 4 - Ok my friends were going OMG 4th gen but I wasn't really impressed by what Sinnoh offered. Snowy environments, ok, but they were a hassle to travel through. I thoroughly hated Snowpoint for that. But Gastrodon was kind of special (bio lesson lol). Gallade too. Guess that they had to increase the number of usable battle Pokemon cos I ended up using quite a number of pre-Gen 4 peeps. The 3D was meh, except for HGSS, since it was only kind of a little perspective shift here and there, pseudo-3D kind of thing, which didn't really appeal to me cos it wasn't a really big step from Gen 3's graphics. And the music (w/ the exception of some in DPPt and the whole of HGSS) was plain meh and didn't even match up to Gen 3's standards. So I played Diamond for the sake of playing a Gen 4 game. Platinum and SS were better. But the Wifi capabilities were expanded pretty much, so that's something good. And the plot about creating a new universe was better and more complicated in Plat, where Charon's fooling around.
Gen 5 - So far I'm impressed by what Gamefreak had offered. I liked the designs more than the Gen 4 ones, and the graphics were simply mind-blowing. Compare Gen 4 and Gen 5 graphics and you would say that Gen 4 was a total letdown in this aspect, looking at the fact that both are on the DS. Meh-looking perspective shifts VS 3D models of Zekrom and Reshiram + Anime-like cutscenes + real 3D environments + AWESOME SAUCE RED BRIDGE AND SKY ARROW BRIDGE + totally 3D Hiun city where you can walk in a circular manner in this megacity (and by mega it really is mega compared the the ones in the older regions) + Moving battle sprites, improved battle animations (like Zekrom's Cross Thunder and Resh's Cross Fire) and the camera moving about in the battle screen in all directions. And there's still Rotation battles, 3-on-3 battles, C Gear, Dream World and more.
Gen 5 can easily be my fave generation so far, but I'll take Gen 3 as best for now since I haven't played White yet.
1st - Gen 3
2nd - Gen 5
3rd - Gen 2
4th - Gen 1
5th - Gen 4
Yea. Just my own thoughts about this whole franchise.
AND I LOVE POKABU'S FAMILY LINE STOP SAYING IT SUCKS. T.T
