Yeah its cool to see their special abilities. I instantly loved crookodile even more when it used to dig and i know ill love wargle even more once it uses freefall.

Gen 3 for me was the absolute peak of Pokemon design. I was thrilled with the RSE Pokemon when they were initially revealed and I am thrilled with them to this day. There are gems in gen's 1 and 2 as well, but gen 4 took a complete nosedive into the creative doldrums, in my opinion. I have no outstanding opinions of any gen 4 Pokemon, and to me, thus far gen 5 has blown every DPPT Pokemon out of the water. The reason people so strongly dislike the new gen is because, well, it's new - no one knows what to expect with brand-new Pokemon, and new designs can look awkward and, well, bad the first time around. And let us not forget that people love drama - think about it , what would forum discussion be like if every post consisted of enthusiastic nods of approval and polite no-thank-you's? In time, people will accept (or embrace) these Pokemon and move on.

I think people hating waiting for simple things like the names of officially revealed pokemon and their typing. Another thing is rumors. I for one, love rumors since they make for great conversation. It gets really out of hand when someone claims they are true like those fake scans awile ago and the evos of the starters. Its not funny when we find out their fake, just annoying.

Okay no joke Gen 3 was the best group of pokemon!!!! They had the best designs! Septile, Blaziken, Slaking, Absol, Salamance and Metagross just to name a few. And on top of that, they had great type mixings! Like Fire/Fighting, Ground/Dragon and Steel/Pyschic. Gen 4 was awful in my opinion. It just seemed like they copied all the types from Gen 3 and then gave them bad designs. Gen 1 and 2 are classics but they pale in caparison to the pokemon types and designs of Gen 3!

@Ziggyfin - WOW seriously! The 5th gym leader in Ruby and Sapphire was Norman who used 2 Slakings and Vigoroth! Which were both introduced in Gen 3! I would say more to you but I don't attack people!

Vigoroth is very different then slaking because of traunt, so they are almost seperate. Also emerald counts as hoenn, as the first games are always test runs, while their remake improves it. Take dppt for example. Flint was really a sad sight, and i think gamefreak learned to keep variety in all types. Atleast now, we will have more variety so it wont happen again.

LOL! I already said this. Everyone criticized gen 3 when it came out and now everyone says it's the best gen! Incredible...

btw, Gen 4 had a lot of new type combos...

Not really. Only stl/drg comes to mind...and that fail wtr/nrm. Most were just knockoff types of gen3. Also i loved gen3 since the beginning. Hoenn brought such a variety, and now, they are even more strong. Gen4 only copied the types with better stats.
blaziken-infernape anyone? Atleast they got upgrades like manectric w/flamethrower and metagross w/bulletpunch and zen headbutt.

@frostwind: Really? Grass/Ground; Water/Steel; Normal/Water; Ghost/Flying; Poison/Dark; Fight/Steel; Poison/Fight; Grass/Ice; Ice/Ghost; Electric/Ghost; Steel/Dragon; Fire/Steel; and Ghost/Dragon. Is that enough for you?

And I already mentioned why I think they gave the same type combo to both Blaziken & Infernape's lines... Going by your logic, gen 3's Salamence is a copy of Dragonite, only with better stats... lol

@Metalizard:How can you call him a noob if he doesn't like the 1st Gen? >_> Everybody haves its opinion, and besides there are many people that grew with 1st Gen and don't like it.

I was saying that the new type combos in gen4 were not very memorable. Besides most just added weaknessess and were pointless.
fire/steel-was ok but heatran was forgetable
grass/ground-ice destroys it
water/steel-eq ends it life
grass/ice-fire beats it couldnt protect itself
Both of those ruined the starter trios typing
Im just saying that atleast hoenn was more original with the typings IMO. Im not saying i hated gen 4, it just isnt the best.

Yeah, some of the Gen 4 new type combos were garbage (mainly Grass/Ground and Grass/Ice) and they reused too many types. When you think of all the new monsters, 10 unique type combos is NOTHING. There was also a ton of wasted potential, like Beequeen should have been Bug/Psychic for example, instead of the useless and overused Bug/Flying.

Fighting/Steel, Dark/Poison, Steel/Dragon, Electric/Ghost, Fire/Steel and Ghost/Dragon were great though. Water/Steel was good too, but I hate the Piplup line with a passion >>

I really hated another Ground/Dragon, but then again, R/S was guilty of making 2 more Flying/Dragons :/ I don't wanna see either of those type combos ever again -.-

@Metalizard - I grew up with Gen 1 and when it was just Gen 1 I loved it, but when Gen 3 came out and I looked back on Gen 1, I realized that Gen 1's designs were not that great after all. Not saying I hated them but they just look so plain now. I really didn't care for Gen 4 that much because I felt that the type combinations could of been better as was explained by a few people above me so I won't repeat whats already been said.

@ Tarazuma - LOL! You might hate me for this but the only pokemon I really liked from Gen 4 was Piplup and its evo line! Mainly because I love steel types and penguins are my favorite animal.

@frostind: What? How are gen 3 type combos more original than gen 4 ones??? It's the same thing! It's just new types combos. You are saying nothing with that sentence, you're just saying that cuz you prefer gen 3 pokémon. Ground/Dragon (originally only for Vibrava & Flygon) = 4x weak to Ice; Grass/Dark = 4x weak to Bug; Fire/Ground = 4x weak to Water; Shedinja's unique Bug/Ghost type combo give it 5 weaknesses (just like you said, it only add more weaknesses), the only thing that kinda saves it is its ability; do you want more?
and btw, Heatran was forgettable? lol, Heatran is one of the only 2 fire types in OU tier thanks to its Fire/Steel type and fantastic stats. And it has a cool design overall.

and Tarazuma (and everyone in general), it's always good to see new type combos but they can't fill a whole gen with only new type combos. There will always be re-used type combos. And complaining about that is like saying "I'm sick of so many pure-[insert a type here] type Pokémon" (just an example), not every pokémon must be double-typed. They can't be always using new type combos, they will eventually end.... and then, you will all complain about that in the future (my guess)...

btw,
@jstar18: Yeah, I realized that too. But just because my favorite gen is the 4th and I prefer gen 4 designs, doesn't mean I will start to hate/dislike gen 1. After all, I grew up with them, most of their desings aren't that bad and I'm so used to them that I just can't dislike them even if newer gens have better desings. And gen 1's Charizard is still my favorite Pokémon despite all those B.A. pokémon introduced in gen 4 that I like...

Well heatran i loved the design and all but it just wasnt important storywise(Not enough to me). I also am a little bias to the designs.
To the person

Well heatran i loved the design and all but it just wasnt important storywise(Not enough to me). I also am a little bias to the designs.
Also felt like there wasnt a lot of potential that was used like the person who said beequeen could be psy/bug. Yanmega could have been bug/drg, staraptor should have been fgt/fly for example. Only good thing about gen4 was the moves. Dragon pulse, aqua ring, giga imapct to name a few.
