Yak's Fakes - Movember Samurott!

RE: Yak's Fakes - Garchomp Delta!

I'm lovin' the blanks -- very professional looking. I also love how you alter the illustrations to match the new type. Excited to see what's next!

RE: Yak's Fakes - Garchomp Delta!

Thanks very much! And next, for your excitement, is Ninetails:

Found an awesome shiny pic over on GTS, yay them. Also, this is the first time I've used a Pokepower/body on a HS Delta card, what think ye of the positioning? It's got the same overhang as an energy, for continuity. As usual, it's my blank, which can be found in my gallery and can be used for nothing more than a nod to me.

OK, next I need to do a Steel-type to complete the set, anyone got any ideas?

RE: Yak's Fakes - Ninetails Delta!

It's Ninetales, bro, not Ninetails. ;D Also, if it's possible, I'd inch the Pokepower down one or two clicks. (Also with parentheses, I'd italicize the closing parenthesis as well. It'll look slightly better.)

RE: Yak's Fakes - Ninetails Delta!

OK, I have failed massively. Misnaming a Kanto Pokémon that I grew up with, I'll fix it after I've thrown myself of this bridge right here. :(

P.S I did a Mew a while ago, I think it was your idea, lol.

EDIT: leapt from bridge, fixed name, fixed all the brackets on the HS Delta cards and moved the Power down by a pixel or two.

RE: Yak's Fakes - Ninetales Delta!

Rounding up the 8 card types is Ludicolo Delta:

Not much to say about this, I wanted to do another stage 2 Hoenn Poke that would work well as a Steel, and somehow, I settled on Ludicolo.

Blanks are mine, my precioussss! Gollum! Gollum! and are available for use in my gallery so long as you credit me.

RE: Yak's Fakes - Ludicolo Delta!

The photoshopping of recolored Pokémon onto random backgrounds saddens me (especially Ninetales).

Also, Garchomp's Fury Swipes is beyond broken while everything else is underpowered.

RE: Yak's Fakes - Ludicolo Delta!

Print them out on card stock to see what they would look like as real cards :p

Well, I can't draw stuff myself, so this is as good as it's going to get. Oh well. And the backgrounds aren't random, they're carefully chosen, thanks very much. Also, I don't care if attacks are under or overpowered, because I will never play with these and I'm currently making up the attacks as I go along. Thanks for your cheerful comments, anything else you'd like to bemoan while you're at it? ;P

Oh, and yes, my cards are spelt properly, by which I do of course mean British English.

RE: Yak's Fakes - Ludicolo Delta!

I wouldn't say carefully chosen, as the Pokémon all look out of context to the background (besides having matching colors).

And yes, I would very much while like to whine about your cards, because you obviously are just making cards while making up attacks as you go along.

RE: Yak's Fakes - Ludicolo Delta!

I know I am, I just told you, lol. The point I'm trying to make is that I don't treat this as OMGSRSBZNSS like you do. This is just something I do for fun. :D

And hey, matching colours is what it's all about. :p

RE: Yak's Fakes - Ludicolo Delta!

In Yak's defense, a lot of fakers make up attacks as they go along; sure it might not add to the realism of the set, but Yak's Delta cards aren't even numbered as a set. And let's be honest -- at least he has a good general understanding of placement, attacks, etc. -- his cards aren't painful on the eyes (his blanks are phenomenal) and his attacks don't do "1000" damage as I've seen on some fakes! :p

QFT ~ +1 Internets for you good British sir :)
Also, I can't remember the last time I thought out attacks before making the card :p

RE: Yak's Fakes - Ludicolo Delta!

Well as it happens, I planned out all of Ash's Pokémon's attacks, cross-referencing them with attacks that they'd used in the anime. I ahve them all in word doc, with energy costs, attack name and other effects, along with the Pokémon's HP, which I decided on based on my experiences of it in the anime, and how much I liked them. :p Annoyingly enough, I did most of the cards before the Sinnoh League arc really started, and some of his Pokes have since learnt new and more awesome moves, like Infernape, Heracross and Noctowl. I might go back and redo a few of those, but don't count on it.

CMP and Flamey, thanks guys. It's for people like you that I carry on with these sometimes, ahaha.

RE: Yak's Fakes - Ludicolo Delta!

Right, I'm making one of the most gigantic necroBUMPs in the history of the internet. All for Psyduck.

It's been a while, but PB's faking contest got me firing up photoshop once again. This took a fair few hours, but it was fun.

Basically, the aim here was to emulate the original Gym Heroes/Challenge cards, but using the BLW style. Thus, Psyduck has 70HP and an Ability, worded as the real cards are now. Also, I've given the card a fairly murky background and a glowing outline, just like Misty's original cards. I also ripped the badge/headshot image straight from an old card too.

In deference to the fact that I'm an anime fan, I've used teal, generally used in the cartoon when a Pokémon uses Psychic or Telekenisis. And yes, I did an entirely seperate layer for the eye glow too. In fact, I used many many layers, for everything and everything!

As for the attacks... well, I had fun with them. Such a useless and bumbling Pokémon, is Psyduck, so let's give him a 50/50 chance of self-confusion, and then use it to protect him! Teehee!

Finally, thanks to the Pokébeach faking community once again, they're all so helpful even in the face of my blinding incompetance. Credit to Asche for the blanks and to Flame Claw for the backgrounds.

RE: Yak's Fakes - Back with Psyduck!

Well, first things first, welcome back. Some things changed, some didn't.

Your Ability does need a bit of rewording. When should the opponent flip the coin? Between turns when Psyduck is confused, or when the opponent declares the attack?

Thanks! Yeah, the Ability drove me mad. I know what it's meant to do, but as usual, communicating this is a hassle... I'll get around to redoing it before the contest ends. In the meantime...

So I had this bizarre idea a couple of nights ago to do a series of moustache-sporting Pokémon for Movember. (If you don't know it, google it. :D )

First up is one of my favourite Unova Pokémon, Samurott. Nothing amazingly special, and the holo effect was a total failure, but I still like it.

As always, thanks to the Pokébeach fakers, who are just too awesomely helpful for words.
