Yanmega/Magnezone discussion

RE: I don't get Yanmega/Magnezone.

If you're going for the magnezones then you will have to burn all of your reversals/other resources while they are playing practically nothing and picking off yanmas/yanmegas so in the late game you won't have any way to counter the yanmegas so you will lose.

RE: I don't get Yanmega/Magnezone.

I'm saying after catcher comes out, when magnezone can be pulled up 100% of the time with 1 card. You'll hardly be burning resources. Reversal is too luck based for some people but cards like muk, drowsee, and bellsprout can all pull up benched magnezone so they can be killed, so megazone can be stopped in our current meta.

RE: I don't get Yanmega/Magnezone.

Ok, well i was assuming that we were discussing our current format that we still have the most important tournament of the year with. And what do you plan to be knocking out magnezone with?

RE: I don't get Yanmega/Magnezone.

Donphan, Zororark, Reshiram Zekrom w/ 2 Pluspowers, I guess anything that can just hit it hard. 140 HP is kinda high though so pluspowers help a lot.

RE: I don't get Yanmega/Magnezone.

Stage 1 decks aren't going to have much of a problem with the Magnemites and Magnetons anyway.

RE: I don't get Yanmega/Magnezone.

I have no idea about this but could you tech an umbreon UD against this deck? I have no idea and I guess they can just linear attack around your damage lock.

Bwaaaa

RE: I don't get Yanmega/Magnezone.

Yeah, they just Linear Attack your support or main attackers. Or I guess they could always just bring up Magneton or something and try to take out your Umbreon if they really had to.

RE: I don't get Yanmega/Magnezone.

i'm testing donpahn/dragons right now and on paper, it seems like one of the best ways to slap this deck around. The deck can run with minimal to no babies which ruins yanmega's cheap prize strategy and add that zone is weak to phan and mega dies to a 4 damage counter outrage. Slap down ruins of alph to add icing to the cake

RE: I don't get Yanmega/Magnezone.

That deck should run no babies, and there should almost never be more than one baby in ANY deck.

RE: I don't get Yanmega/Magnezone.

I'll test it out with no babies soon. I seem to not need it most of the time. Maybe 1 Tyrouge just for those who still play Cleffas.

RE: I don't get Yanmega/Magnezone.

Why not? If you get any out to it– which should happen about 80-90% of the time– you can donk if your opponent has only a Cleffa in play. Not likely, but not rare.

RE: I don't get Yanmega/Magnezone.

Tyrogue can kill you or save you. In a format with few babies (due to tyrogue and yanmega being very popular) the former is more common. Would you like to start with a lone tyrogue against a phanphy and a donphan in the opponent's hand?

RE: I don't get Yanmega/Magnezone.

Tyrogue actually can never save you. I could've donked with it twice at nats, but I still don't regret not playing it. That is the only way that it can help. Donks. If they have more than one basic, then they will just get the prize back later, while the tyrogue is just taking up bench space for the majority of the game. You can also get donked with it. It's just not a smart play IMO.

I do believe Yanmega/Magnezone is a really top metagame deck but it loses to hard hitters like Reshiram and Zekrom. That Tyrogue is over seen in every deck, if that's your only basic out and you got nothing to do... You're better off using other Pokemon and using those plus powers and have extra space in the deck.

yanmega/magnezone just gets better with catcher... plus catcher coming out doesnt totally flip the meta as much as people think. Yes people will use it, but its just an auto-reversal which you should be setting up around in a game anyways. Beartic will be OK possibly over hyped cause it depends on locking attacks and making the opponent waste energy to be able to attack but Yanmega doesnt really care about that anyways.

>_> Any deck gets better with catcher....but AGAINST IT...is what matters. You can just Catcher up a Magnezone and then it can only do a consistent 50 to you...>_> that is no big threat.

^Or I'll just bring up your Magnezone with no energy on it :p the high retreat kills so many decks with catcher. Thus why things like ReshiBoar and Zekrom will die after Catcher...MegaZone is another deck that might just die with them

Or... the only energy I ever attach will be to Magnezone unless I have Rescue on my Yanmega, so I'll likely not have a Magnezone with no energy on my bench.
