Mexico vs The Netherlands looks like the most promising match from the next round so far. Also, Brasil looks like it has a rather easy path to the semi's, and possibly all the way to the Final...

I was pretty much heart broken, when we lost against Uruguay. As a very passionate Arsenal and England fan, I almost went to tears.

I feel for you man. It's tough, waiting for 4 years and seeing that happen to your team...

I was pretty bummed out after the Netherlands knocked out Brazil in the last world cup :/

I have been waiting longer than 4 years mate haha, it's not easy being an England fan. I know that we should be playing better, we just don't.

That's unfortunate. England had a very good team when Beckham, Rooney, Lampard and Gerard were on the same squad. Maybe Sir Alex Ferguson could've led that team further.

Luis Suarez got banned from the World Cup, plus all other football activities for four months. This dude needs to be banned for life, considering he's already had 3 biting incidents...

I'm happy with the nine games. I think the guy just needs some therapy; a life-ban would have been too steep.

I agree. He needs therapy because I think the biting issue can be fixed and he can be redeemed.

Thinking it over a little bit, you're probably right as far as this instance goes, but I also feel like Fifa shouldn't wait until Suarez pulls a Mike Tyson and bites off a chunk of ear (or hand, back, etc) from someone. Luckily, he's only bit people hard enough to leave teeth marks and nothing more, but if it were me in charge of the bans/sanctions for Fifa, I wouldn't wait for him to do something worse. Like you mentioned, I'd also have him seek some therapy before playing soccer again.

I was hoping for a 2 year ban. I can't stand Suarez, and it would be fun to see how Liverpool would end up without him next season ;)

Awww, there goes Ghana's chance to advance. Have to admit though, the US is lucky to advance, Ghana helped them out a lot in all three games lol. Ghana probably should've beat Germany and Portugal, and outplayed the US for most of that game too. Let's hope the US plays better in the next round.

US may have gotten shutout, but thanks to Portugal's victory over Ghana, the Americans will advance to the Knockout Round.

The Americans will play Belgium in the Round of 16, Germany will play Algeria.

The 2nd matchup isn't set in stone just yet. Russia can still sneak in ;)

They're going to have a difficult time to sneak past Algeria though. Win their match, and have Algeria lose (and not draw).

I think you might've mixed up the matchups :p

Algeria plays Russia next, so Russia controls its own destiny.

Well, the only matchup that is set in stone is Belgium (Group H winner) vs. United States (Group G runner-up).

So, Algeria and Russia will be playing for all the marbles for the final Round of 16 spot.

Yup. I think Russia can provide a better game if they make it to the next round, and I'd like to see Shevshenko (or however you spell his last name) play one more game.

Ewww Algeria got elevated to the knockout round. While Russia is going home, such a disappointment. :( If it weren't for that laser shoved on Russia's goal keeper face, Algeria couldn't have scored! Poor Russians I feel your laments.

What game from the next round are you guys looking forward to the most?

I also have to add, Belgium has some pretty attractive women :D
