Ask a Play! Pokémon Question

RE: Ask a simple Play! Pokemon question here!

Does anyone know when Florida Battle Roads are? I haven't been able to ask my league leader because of kid having FCAT.

RE: Ask a simple Play! Pokemon question here!

I'm pretty sure the Battle Road weekends will be the second weekend of May until the second (I think) weekend of June. If you're going to a prerelease, that's when the TOs like to announce the upcoming events.

RE: Ask a simple Play! Pokemon question here!

I'm quite new to the pokemon card game, and so would like to clear a couple of things up.
1. do you need an invitation to go to the england national championships, and if so, how do you get one?
2. what are play! pokemon points?
3. If you go to a tournament in england, can you go to one in america, and if so, does it count towards your play! pokemon points total?
thank you!

I don't know how well I can answer your questions because there is an ocean between us (I'm on the US East Coast...) but I'll do my best xD

1. here in the US anyone who has 10 Play! Points can attend Nats so I assume it's the same thing for you guys...

2. Play! Points are points you get just for attending tournaments/pokemon leagues. The Higher the level of the tournament, the more Play! Points (I'll just call them P!P) are given out. you don't have to place well to earn P!P you just have to play! xD (and acquiring 10 of these points should score you an invite to nationals like I said earlier)

3. I'm not so sure here... I do know that we can only attend the US nationals and not the Canadian/Mexican ones because they wont let us. However I don't think that stands for all tournaments (i.e someone could probably attend a city championship in the US and Canada, at which case, yes it would count to your overall P!P and Championship point total.... but I'm not sure) I do know that the ECC and Worlds are both international tournaments so anyone from any country can go.

I hope I helped you with your questions ^^ (although I'm probably not the best one suited to answer them....) Good Luck! xD

Here is a link to the Nationals in the UK. https://www.pokemon.com/us/account/play-pokemon-tournaments/12-06-000001/
It also gives you contact information for the PTO which is Ian in this case. I know Ian has an account here, but he isn't active.

I am completely new to this thing so, what are battle roads, leagues and premier events? How do you join them? The site didn't explain it clearly enough to me.

Battle Roads are just a series of small tournaments held in your area that are suited for newer players getting used to the competitive scene. They count for your Premier Ratings but not a whole lot to get the new ones fitting in. Leagues are just weekly meetings with people who also play Pokemon held in a safe area. Leagues are usually on Sundays and they can last around 3-5 hours in the afternoon and they are just there to help you test against people in your area and don't count against your Premier Rating. Premier events are the tournaments that actually count for Premier ratings, each of them getting harder to progress through as you move to the next event. All of them start at Battle Roads, leading all the way up to the World Championship. Hope this helped! :)

Is there a battle roads on right now? When I find one close to me, what do I need to do to register?

Depends on your area. If you live in a place where they don't hold much tournaments then there's probably none. But if you live in a competitive area, then just use the events search bar and look over which one is nearest to you. If you don't have a Pokemon Account then just go there and the Event Organizer will give you a POP ID, which you can use to then keep track of your records in Premier Events.

RE: Ask a simple Play! Pokemon question here!

You will need a legal deck, damage counters or dice, a poison marker, a burn marker, a Player ID if you have one, and a randomizer.

RE: Ask a simple Play! Pokemon question here!

Battle Roads start the weekend of May 19th so they are coming up pretty quickly. If you want to find one near you, you can use the Event Locator.
Keep in mind the legal tourney format is HeartGold/SoulSilver and up; cards from older sets aren't allowed unless they were reprinted, and if there's a significant change you'll need a reference.

whats a reference

RE: Ask a simple Play! Pokemon question here!

A copy of the card that is kept to the side of the deck. This card has the newest wording on it.

RE: Ask a simple Play! Pokemon question here!

Take Rare Candy as an example.

Notice the newer print (Dark Explorers, the one on the right) has a fundamentally different effect - namely, that you can only use it to evolve to Stage 2 (not Stage 1), and you have to wait a turn before a Pokemon can evolve with it.

If you're using prints of Rare Candy older than Dark Explorers in your deck, you need to have a current reference for Rare Candy available. This is always kept outside your deck as a reference copy.

Other examples include PlusPower, Potion, Great Ball, and Super Rod.

RE: Ask a simple Play! Pokemon question here!

So I was checking out the Nationals page on the pokemon website, and it said that registration was only guaranteed to the first 324 Seniors, and that there was open registration from 8:00 to 8:30 and everyone who enters after that might not get in. If I register by 8:30, am I guaranteed a spot? Has anyone been on time to registration and still not made it?

I'm getting kind of worried about this, the flight is a lot of money just to not make registration.

RE: Ask a simple Play! Pokemon question here!

It depends on how many spots have been taken already. I know last year they raised the caps for each division.

All is not lost if you don't make the main event. They have prizes just for playing league games like a pack and playmat. The better prizes like playmats tend to be rare. There is also tons of side events. I believe I volunteered at least 15 hours last year just to running side events.

RE: Ask a simple Play! Pokemon question here!

So it is possible to not be able to register even if you are there by 8:30?

RE: Ask a simple Play! Pokemon question here!

If that is not your local language, then no.
