RE: Peter Folk has Died.

Yeah, it's awful, especially when they die under 70. The worst things are child deaths. Just shocking. :(

RE: Peter Folk has Died.

While terrible news, I'm not sure that discussion about this particular actor, Peter Folk, can generate enough discussion to warrant topic. Something like this would probably be best discussed in the Casual Discussion thread -- the topic has already deviated from Peter Folk.

RE: Steve Jobs Has Passed Away

Just saw that... Really stinks. I was enjoying watch him become so successful

RE: Steve Jobs Has Passed Away

Even if you don't like Macs or Apple, you can't argue that we lost one of the greatest visionaries of our time and one of the most influential people to ever have lived. RIP.

RE: Steve Jobs Has Passed Away

One of the "computer godfathers" who helped usher in computers into our homes and our lives. A true visionary, he will be sorely missed.

R.I.P Steve Jobs; 1955-2011.

This. Unfortunately, this bodes bad news for Apple on the stock market... They really don't deserve this (other than the horrible idea of not calling their new product iPhone 5 and instead an iPhone4S).

I was thinking the same thing. First the disappointment with the iPhone4S, and now this...

RE: Steve Jobs Has Passed Away

I wasn't a fan of Apple. Nevertheless while some of the people who like Apple products seemed to be jerks...he didn't seem to strike me as one. And 56 is way too young. Sucks.

RE: Steve Jobs Has Passed Away

This is indeed very saddening news. I agree with the Gale in that we have lost one of the greatest visionaries of our time. He single handedly revolutionized the both the laptop and mobile phone industry. R.I.P Steve Jobs, you will be greatly missed.

RE: Steve Jobs Has Passed Away

Sad day for apple. Despite not being a big fan of apple, I'm truly sorry for their loss. Rest in piece Steve Jobs. ): We will forever respect your work.

RE: Steve Jobs Has Passed Away

In the words of Steve Jobs:

"Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones that do"

RIP Steve, you will be missed

I swear if anyone says anything like "Apple will now be going down the drain," I'll be upset.

I have been seeing that all over Facebook, and that is the biggest load of crud I have ever heard. Bill Gates stepped down from Microsoft. And Jobs stepped down from Apple like 2-3 months ago. So what? Apple has lots of momentum. Sure, I doubt Tim Cook will ever give as much as Steve did to the company, and he will probably never be as well known, but so what? Apple has plenty in store for the future. They have the number 1 Laptop sold in the world. The number one Desktop. The number one Phone. And the number one tablet. They have plenty of successful years ahead before they even hit their prime. I'm glad Steve got to see his next product, the iPhone 4s be released before his death. RIP dude.

^^ You have a very decent point! And I agree totally! :D

RE: Steve Jobs Has Passed Away

"We’re here to put a dent in the universe. Otherwise why else even be here?” - Steve Jobs.

Because I know a bunch of people don't want to read my wall of text:
Nobody will ever come close to being what Jobs was, or to filling the gap that he has left. Anybody who has heard anything real about this man can't deny that he was a great inventor, a design fanatic and a ground-breaking, world-shaping, life-changing visionary; but more importantly, he was down to his core a good person.

He was technology's equivalent of Mr. Rogers and the real life Tony Stark. Ever striving to leave his mark on this world and to flat out improve people's lives, he revolutionized the world of electronics year after year and advanced technology in ways that others couldn't even imagine. No matter your stance on Apple products, he was without a doubt one of the most influential and significant persons of these last two decades and the world has no idea what it is in for without him leading the way. He single-handedly redefined our concept of what is plausible, what will someday be possible and what is worth pushing for. His meticulously intricate attention to detail and knack for innovative design has influenced everything from cars to clothing to modern architecture and everything in between. He always has and always will be an inspiration to me.

"Being the richest man in the cemetery doesn't matter to me ... Going to bed at night saying we've done something wonderful... that's what matters to me."
Steve Jobs, On the success of Bill Gates and Microsoft, as quoted in The Wall Street Journal (Summer 1993)

RIP, Steve. You have indeed done something wonderful, time and time again. You will be forever remembered, and forever missed.

The public is stupid. Apple's stock could do anything over these next few weeks. They definitely aren't going belly up anytime soon, but you can't deny they are going to be taking a hit in the market for this. Jobs was too much a part of that company in every aspect imaginable for them to not.

Oh, and they have indeed hit their prime - nobody will ever take them farther or higher than Jobs did. This isn't even debatable.

RE: Steve Jobs Has Passed Away

Steve Jobs was a genius who proved that him and his former company were just as great as Bill Gates and Microsoft are in the field of technology. Heck If it wasn't for Jobs I'd be stuck not listening to good music on my iPod while having to be subjected to modern day music like Lady Gaga, Kei$ha, and the Black Eyed Peas which are horrible IMO. Stuff that my sister listens to on the radio who sadly doesn't know how to appreciate good music before her time.

I do think tablet technology is rather pushing the boundaries though, it's so expensive yet alot of people don't have the money to afford them and then later on it gets replaced by a better piece of technology down the line. It's also one of the most annoying factors of video game consoles. They keep spamming new systems hoping to bridge a gap from the old. Systems like the Nintendo 3DS is a good example cause Nintendo rushed with it too fast like they did with the Virtual Boy back in 1995.

Just read an article saying Google's Android had more market share, but whatever.

Stocks may fall (admittedly, less than I even expected today), innovation may go down, and doubts may spread, but the world has lost a truly great man. He will surely be missed and that's all that matters. RIP

dmaster out.

RE: Steve Jobs Has Passed Away

He passed away? I thought he had cancer....

Or did he die of it, or did it spread? RIP Steve Jobs if he did die of cancer. ;(

We will always remember....

RE: Steve Jobs Has Passed Away

Steve Job, you were one of the only geniuses of our time! We will miss you, good buddy! Remember, you truly did shape the world, and made a lasting impact in our fast-paced culture! :/ R.I.P

God bless him... I just hope heaven doesn't require Adobe Flash Player! xD
