had a window to post a new chapter. enjoy as I write a bit of chapter 9 while on study break
DNA's Pokémon Pearl Dolo Run-Through
Chapter 5: This is Hopefully Not a Setup, Part 2
Hearthome is a pretty big place, so there are a lot of items and such to be found, so to begin, I scour the city for them. This involves visiting a few places, including Racist Square, the Pokemon Fanboy Club, and the First Ecumenical Church of Sinnoh. The Public Exhibition Hall comes later. Items I found:
- TM45 Attract (Amity Square)
- TM43 Secret Power (Amity Square)
- Spooky Plate (Amity Square)
- Amulet Coin (Amity Square)
- Discrimination against Gyarados and Steelix (Amity Square entrance)
- A hint that HM04 Strength is at the Lost Tower (Outside, northeast)
- Shell Bell (Building right of the Pokemon Fan Club, 2F)
- Bebe, of Bebe's Search and PC system fame (Building right of the Pokemon Center). I felt bad for completely forgetting her name.
I told you they were racist
I gave the Amulet Coin to Crumpets. I felt it was fitting. It will also be extremely helpful, since Crumpets is currently my best lead.
After all that, I find a fisherman visitor from the Hoenn region who got lost here, but the very kind locals helped him find his way around, so he wished to extend the same kindness and show me to the Contest Hall. How nice of him. I do not wish to snub his kindness, so I say yes. Just outside the contest hall, I see an ambiguously gendered woman (?) wearing a flamboyant purple dress and an obsession with the French language. ...There's only one person I know who fits all of those criteria...
<@Dustin_DeVine> Oh! Are you here for the Contests?
<%DNA> ...kinda...
<%DNA> some woman named Keira asked me to come here so she could 'thank me properly'
<%DNA> I'm just hoping this isn't code for something else, like a hentai setup
<@Dustin_DeVine> oh, not at all! She merely wishes to express her gratitude for saving her Buneary. I heard the story myself!
<@Dustin_DeVine> Incidentally, Dustin is a master coordinator at Pokemon Contests!
<%DNA> 3rd person...
* DNA twitch
<@Dustin_DeVine> But I assume you may wish to challenge me at the gym, yes?
<%DNA> That would be nice.
<@Dustin_DeVine> Very well! You may challenge me, but not yet! You must become much stronger. Then, you may challenge me!
And then he walked off without another word. Every member of my team was simultaneously insulted by the 'rude French man-woman', as Thorne so bluntly put it. I tell them to hold off and the opportunity will come later. After all, we're in no rush. Besides, I already know Tucke-er, Fanti-er, Dustin will be fifth in the line-up. I enter the Exhibition Hall, and...
*** DNA has joined #contesthall
<+Keira> Oh! My hero!
<%DNA> ...this isn't starting off well.
<TorTERROR> not good, man
<TorTERROR> abort
<TorTERROR> ABORT
<Johanna> Oh, hi, DNA.
<%DNA> Oh, it's you...the woman who thinks she's my mother.
<%DNA> I thought you'd still be watching TV for the rest of this playthrough...
<+Keira> Wait! No! Really?! Johanna is your mom?
<%DNA> No, she is not. She's fairly delusional and only thinks she is.
<%DNA> I'm just here as a beta tester.
<+Keira> So you might be a Contest star?!
<%DNA> HAHAHAHA
<%DNA> NO
* DNA eyelaser
Yes, those are the actual lines from the game.
After I left a nice burn mark on the wall behind Keira (she ducked to avoid me, dangit), she gives me an accessory to thank me for saving her Buneary, then says "I'm a Contest Judge, so please join us for a different kind of fun. If you're unsure of yourself, we also offer practice sessions."
About five red flags go off and I want to get out of here as soon as possible. "Wow," Geist said, "this really is an Exhibition Hall. And that reward was a total gyp."
<Johanna> Were you surprised to see me, DNA?
<Johanna> I got bored, so I came out to Hearthome for a little vacation.
<%DNA> I would assume watching TV all day would get quite boring, yes.
<Johanna> I'm just as surprised to see you here, my dear!
<%DNA> I didn't say I was surprised.
<Johanna> But are you serious about entering Contests? Not dressed that way!
<%DNA> No, I'm not. The whole thing just reeks of innuendo and--
<%DNA> you're not even listening to me are you
<Johanna> When your Pokemon is all dressed up, you can't be dressed your usual way.
<Johanna> Put this on for a little glamour.
* Johanna gives DNA a tuxedo.
<Johanna> I'm sure it will look good on you. After all, I chose it.
<Johanna> Go enjoy the Contests, honey!
<%DNA> Can't I just go do my own thing? I have testing to do...
<Johanna> Contests will give you a different look at the many charms of Pokemon.
<%DNA> I have a monocle-wearing Golbat journeying with me; I get quite a lot of charms from him, thank you.
<Johanna> It should be an eye-opening experience for you. Bye now!
*** Johanna has left #contesthall
<%DNA> ... ... ...
<TorTERROR> so...um...
<%DNA> Find any items from NPCs, and then we leave, pronto. If you see Keira, RUN.
The only item there to be found is a Mild Poffin given to me by a Rich Boy at the counter. Then, true to my word, we skedaddle, but...
<+Teapot> o/
<%DNA> \o
<+Teapot> wait
<+Teapot> why do you have hop
<%DNA> cuz im speshul
<+Teapot> who gave it to you
<+Teapot> was it Pride?
<%DNA> Pride's wife, actually
<+Teapot> WHAT
<+Teapot> PRIDE'S WIFE IS HERE
<+Teapot> aposjfpsaopfaospjdof
<%DNA> I dunno, somewhere.
<%DNA> anyway, what's up?
<+Teapot> dude, I just discovered the GREATEST thing
<+Teapot> we're in a video game
<+Teapot> and catching and training Pokemon
<+Teapot> no, not like playing it
<+Teapot> like actually IN a video game
<%DNA> yeah, and it's called Pokemon Dolo Version
<+Teapot> and I think it's called Dolo Ver-
<+Teapot> ...
<%DNA> <3
* Teapot flips a table
<%DNA> seriously though, I thought you figured that out the instant we got assaulted by Starly
<+Teapot> I WAS DISTRACTED BY BELLOMENCE OKAY
<+Teapot> anyway, since we're both in this game now, why don't we battle?
<%DNA> are you drunk?
<+Teapot> no
<+Teapot> why would I be?
<%DNA> because you were drunk the last time we fought
<%DNA> and you lost, horribly
<+Teapot> dammit Pride
<+Teapot> he must have put something in the water
<%DNA> Mike's Hard Lemonade, perhaps? It is his drink of choice.
<+Teapot> no wonder it tasted so good
<+Teapot> anyway, let's battle
<+Teapot> since you don't have the excuse of not having a team to import, I want to see if I can finally beat you this time!
<%DNA> very well, Teapot
<%DNA> But don't forget, I am the chosen one. Prepare to lose!
Cue the music!
Teapot opens with a lv. 19 Starly. I was expecting him to have Staravia by now, honestly, given how it evolves at...what, level 14? My opener, as I usually have, is Crumpets, at lv. 22.
<+Teapot> your Golbat has a monocle and a top hat?
<+Teapot> that is so cool
<Crumpets> Indeed, good sir. I presume you and master DNA are acquaintances?
<+Teapot> yeah
<+Teapot> we're both playing in Pride's gigantic video game
<+Teapot> but seriously, DNA, you picked up a gentleman Golbat?
<%DNA> Found him as a Zubat first, but yes.
<+Teapot> that's pretty cool
<+Teapot> wait wtf
<+Teapot> why has my Starly fainted
<Crumpets> Oh, my apologies, old bean. I thought you had given a command to the Starly, and so I took that as a challenge, so I retaliated in kind.
<Crumpets> I thought you were paying attention. I am sorry.
Crumpets knows the drill, apparently! He took care of Teapot's Starly with zero hassle, slipping in a tiny bit of sarcasm while he was at it, prompting Teapot to send out a lv. 20 Buizel.
<TorTERROR> don't worry
<TorTERROR> I got this
<TorTERROR> I TOTALLY got this
<+Teapot> AGH
<+Teapot> you have
<+Teapot> the based TorTERROR
<+Teapot> I totally forgot >_<
<TorTERROR> bro, your Buizel is puny
<TorTERROR> it's barely doing anything to me while I absorb it to death
<TorTERROR> weak/10
Just like that, Buizel is down. Teapot sends out a lv. 21 Monferno, so I switch back out to Crumpets again!
<%DNA> wait
<%DNA> that's it
<%DNA> THAT's your highest level? 21?
<+Teapot> hey man
<+Teapot> mini-Kevin wrecks face
<%DNA> AoH told me you won only due to hax, and you were screaming like crazy once you did so.
<%DNA> And regardless of whether or not he 'wrecks face', look at Crumpets' level.
<+Teapot> 22?
<+Teapot> what of it?
<%DNA> He's currently my LOWEST level. And he still beats Mini-Kevin by 1.
<+Teapot> ...
<+Teapot> mini-Kevin, wreck his Golbat, but go easy on the outfit
<+Teapot> because that outfit is cool
Crumpets uses Wing Attack on Mini-Kevin, and much to my surprise it's not an OHKO, but it puts him in the red. That gives him an opportunity to Flame Wheel, which takes off about two-thirds of Crumpets' HP. Teapot then sends out...a lv. 20 Roselia?
<%DNA> wait, a Roselia?
<%DNA> why?
<+Teapot> because dual-powder lead Roserade is amazing in Gen 4
<%DNA> this is true
<%DNA> but right now, it's not a dual-powder lead Roserade, now is it?
<+Teapot> No, but...
<%DNA> ...Wing Attack.
<Crumpets> Of course, master DNA.
* Crumpets used Wing Attack with a resultant OHKO!
<%DNA> wow, I feel bad
<%DNA> I should have just let you handle his whole team, Crumpets
<%DNA> Teapot, your team is going to grow up to be Crobat-weak. Fix it.
<+Teapot> ugh
<+Teapot> that Golbat
<+Teapot> it's so annoying, but so classy
<+Teapot> I should probably go to Veilstone Gym next, for more levels and stuff
<+Teapot> AND THEN
<+Teapot> I will be able to overpower your OP Golbat and based TorTERROR
<%DNA> gl hf
<%DNA> because nothing is better than the based TorTERROR when he is at full strength
<+Teapot> no, but I can beat you before it reaches full strength!
<+Teapot> k bye
<+Teapot> o/
<%DNA> \o
I wouldn't go to the Pokemon Center normally, but the Flame Wheel roughed up Crumpets pretty bad, so I might as well. From there, it's off to Route 209! And it is going to be a looooooooooooong walk. One of the first things I see on Route 209 is...
<Larry> Hmm! A Good Rod is really good!
<Larry> Wouldn't you agree?
<%DNA> um
<%DNA> haven't we met before, back in Jubilife?
<Larry> no
<Larry> that was my identical, less attractive cousin
<%DNA> identical cousin
<%DNA> right
<%DNA> but yeah, I guess I agree
<Larry> Hmm! We're of identical minds!
<Larry> Hmm! Take this Good Rod!
<%DNA> okay now I KNOW you two are the same person.
<Larry> Not at all! In fact, there are many more like us.
I ignore him and move on. I see joggers here as well, and I know they will only challenge me to battles early in the morning. I may come back to do just that. This route also marks the debut of the perennially disturbing Poké Kids, little girls who dress up as Pikachu - and this one said she wanted to be a Pokémon when she grows up. I've heard the Fairy Tale Girls in Gen 6 are worse, but whatever - no one cares about that right now. Also, while I'm here, I place the Odd Keystone in the Hallowed Tower here. I probably won't ever use it, but hey, it frees up bag space. (Yes, I know the bag is infinite, but scrolling is a pain.)
The only items of note here are TM47 Steel Wing (needs Cut) and a Calcium (in a bike path to the side). In D/P, I know that Defog is not required for the Lost Tower like it is in Platinum, so I choose to go there first before hitting Solaceon Town.
I don't know what it is with Pokemon and tower-shaped mausoleums. Aside from Johto, every region has one, though props to Hoenn building theirs into a mountain and Unova for giving theirs a bell for a little more significance. But Sinnoh has nothing special about it, not even a ghost to put to rest. Welp, time to put some more trainers out of their misery, possibly more literally than I would in other places. Because, you know, ghosts and crying and all that fun stuff.
The first trainer I run into thinks I'm a ghost and attacks me. I slap him and tell him to go outside and get some fresh air. After returning to his senses, he said he went here on a dare and the loser had to bring back an HM from the top. I slap him again, tell him to get some new friends, and then go off and ascend the rest of the tower.
The second trainer is a Roughneck who said that Team Galactic took his Pokemon away, and that he'll never forgive their faces. Geist whispers to me "I told you everyone hates them", while I'm too surprised by the fact that his only Pokemon is a Cleffa. TM27 Return is in the tower, which I found interesting.
By the time we get to the 3rd floor, Geist is pretty beat up, and he starts to cough violently, as if in pain. Not surprising, since he got paralyzed by a Pikachu and pursued by a Buizel. I ask if he's okay, to which he says "I'm fine", then suddenly grows a whole lot larger. His body becomes more spiky and recognizable, and two floating hands remain suspended from him.
"Whoa, neat," he comments. "Only one step away from greatness, yeah!" he yells. Down the corridors, I hear a lot of screams of "Ghooooooooost!!!"
"Maybe you should take it easy for now. Not only are you looking really tired, but everyone here is freaking out pretty bad looking at you."
"Yeah, good idea. I'll take a nap for now. When we get to the Pokemon Center, I shall be at my full power. Just you wait...Soon, I shall be the Master of Badassery!"
I continue to climb the Lost Tower, and much to my surprise, I run into a wild Pokemon. It's the first one I've seen since coming here. I ignore it and move on, and climb the stairs...oh look, I'm already at the top. That was easy. I collect HM04 Strength (which I teach to Slave 0 scratch that he has to evolve first) and a Cleanse Tag, and head back down again. As fast as I can, I rush to the Solaceon Pokemon Center to heal up my team, and then explore this place. Geist vanishes for a bit, but when he comes back, he returns with a complete body and a full set of teeth.
"Let the fun begin," he says, with a diabolically evil laugh.
"Just wait until you get Shadow Ball," I reply with a grin of my own. "Then the fun can truly begin."
"Heheh, I'm really digging this new look. Guess that makes me the first fully-evolved Pokemon on the team, eh?"
"Ahem," Thorne chimes in, clearing her throat.
"You don't count; you never evolved to begin with."
"I still reached my peak power earlier than you did!"
"But it doesn't matter, now that I'm going to surpass you."
"If you two are both done making out," I interrupt, "we have a town to explore and a journey to finish."
They both immediately shut up.
Solaceon Town is a quiet little place, filled with country bumpkins, a set of old ruins, and of course the daycare. I have no need of any of those things, but I might as well see what's in the ruins, I guess - well, as far as trainers and items go. I don't really care much about Unown at this point, though I'll catch them if they show up. If I want to go back and fill up a collection, it can wait until the playthrough is done. I'm just going to breeze over it and tell you what items I find and where, both in and out of the ruins.
Stuff!
- Poketch App 10 (Pokemon History) - From a Ruin Maniac on the main thoroughfare
- Poketch App 9 (Day-Care Checker) - From a man in the Day-Care (must deposit a Pokemon there before he appears)
- A house that doesn't know where eggs come from - Just north of the Pokemon Center
- Seal Case - From a woman in the east-most house
- A-Z, !, and ? Seals - From a boy in that same house, by showing him an Unown in your party (talk to him in Solaceon Ruins first). Each showing gives 10 seals of that letter, and can be done multiple times.
- Repel - In Solaceon Ruins, in the room taking the top-left stair from 1F (the entrance)
- Escape Rope - In Solaceon Ruins, in the room taking the lower-left stair from B2F
- Big Mushroom - In Solaceon Ruins, in the room taking the lower-right stair from B4F
- Nugget - In Solaceon Ruins, in the last room
- Mind Plate - In Solaceon Ruins, in the last room
- Odd Incense - In Solaceon Ruins, in the last room
- Rare Candy - In Solaceon Ruins, in the last room
It is at this point I realize that Poketch App 8 (Berry Searcher) is at the Berry Master's house on Route 208, held by his granddaughter. I backtrack and get it, then go back to work.
The path through the ruins is, as is shown in the opening room: top-right; lower-left; top-right; top-left; top-left; and finally lower-left. It's not a big deal since I'm going to get everything in here anyway and it's nearly impossible to get lost. The mural in the last room reads "Friendship: All lives touch other lives to create something anew and alive", for anyone curious. I caught 4 Unown (E, F, I, and Q) while here, again, for anyone who is curious. And now that I'm done here, let us ditch this hick dive, for now.
Route 210 has lots of tall grass, and not much else to really talk about. I do pick up TM51 Roost from this one girl, though outside of Crumpets I'm not sure how much use that will have. This place would go up to Celestic Town, but it appears that Meaty is blocking the way.
...wait, what
<%DNA> you?
<%DNA> why are you and about 3 of your clones here right now?
<Meaty> just chillin'
<%DNA> move
<Meaty> no
<Meaty> not unless you play Vanguard
<%DNA> NO
<%DNA> FFS
<%DNA> I don't have time for this
I punch Meaty in anger because he is meaty, then I go off in a huff to the cafe that's right there to let off some steam. They sell Moomoo Milk...one at a time. I bet the multi-purchase option only started in Platinum. Still frustrated, I buy several for the road (the first healing item purchase I've made since...since way back) and vent my anger on the trainers there before moving on.
Route 215 is a nice change of pace. As soon as I step foot into it, it starts raining. TorTERROR really seems to be relishing it, just kicking back and chilling, honestly. Everyone else seems to be rather laid-back as well. All in all, this route was pretty nice. We just took things at our own pace and moved, slowly but surely, to our destination, taking in the scenery as we went.
On the way, I run into a black belt who says doing to others as they do unto you ends up in a lot of violence...and then he gives me TM66 Payback. Then I run into another one who said he feigned sleep before challenging me to battle, and after losing said he feigned a loss. o-kay...
"This must be where all the weirdos come out," Geist noted.
"Yeah, probably...but then again, there are weirdos everywhere in this game."
Later I found TM34 Shock Wave, and concluded the route by fighting against 2 Ace Trainers Cooltrainers. lol, like they actually think they're a threat. They go down. Hard. Crumpets and Thorne make a good team.
Veilstone City is a big place. Like, a BIG place. It's got the Game Corner, the Veilstone Mart (which is huge), the Galactic HQ, and of course the gym. Near the gym I know there's a house where a woman will massage 1 Pokemon once a day to raise happiness, so I have Crumpets massage her. She is then complimented by the Golbat.
Here's just a laundry list of stuff I find:
- Red Rain and TwistedTurtwig - At the west entrance to town, guarding their warehouse
- TinyMushroom - Near said warehouse (hidden item)
- Poketch App 11 (Counter) - From an attendant on 2F of the Veilstone Dept. Store
- Several TMs are for sale on 3F of the Dept. Store. They are 38 Fire Blast, 25 Thunder, 14 Blizzard, 22 Solarbeam, 52 Focus Blast, 15 Hyper Beam, 83 Natural Gift, 17 Protect, 54 False Swipe, 20 Safeguard, 33 Reflect, 16 Light Screen, and 70 Flash. I'll buy some later, maybe.
- Sticky Barb - From one of two buff guys standing side by side on 5F of the Dept. Store
- ??? - Southwest of the Center, requires Rock Climb. I'll have to come back to get it later.
- PP Up - Just to the west of the Team Galactic HQ
- A hint that HM02 Fly is in Team Galactic's warehouse
- TM63 Embargo - From a roughneck just south of the gym
- The massage lady - In the leftmost house of 2, right by the gym. (She gives 1 massage per day. When massaging, she also finds an accessory. But no one cares about accessories.)
- Coin Case - From a clown in the rightmost house of 2, right by the gym
- TM64 Explosion - From winning 10 straight bonus rounds at the slots, though I've never actually pulled this off
- 70 coins - Various NPCs in the Game Corner
- There are prizes offered at the Game Corner. The TMs there are: 90 Substitute, 58 Endure, 75 Swords Dance, 32 Double Team, 44 Rest, 89 U-Turn, 10 Hidden Power, 27 Return, 21 Frustration, 35 Flamethrower, 24 Thunderbolt, 13 Ice Beam, 29 Psychic, 74 Gyro Ball, and 68 Giga Impact.
Bellomence is in front of the gym for some reason; I haven't a clue why. She notes that she went on a marvelous shopping spree at the department shore, wishes me luck, crosses her legs, giggles, and leaves. ...Par for the course.
Veilstone Gym has one of my favorite puzzles - slits in the walls that you have to push in a certain arrangement to reach the leader. I remember Platinum's version having punching bags and tires to knock over, but this version is cool too. The junior trainers are the Karate Quads, who will strike a blow for courage/tears/hope/love with their fists. hiyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah
Now that the comic relief is over, time for the main event.
<%DNA> !challenge
<@Luckyfire> Hello. I'm pleased to meet you. I'm Lucky, and I'm the Gym Leader. I don't really know what it means to be strong, or how I got to be the Gym Leader. But I will do the best I can as the Gym Leader. I take battling very seriously. Whenever you're ready!
<%DNA> wait what, Lucky?
<%DNA> What are you doing here?
<%DNA> also kudos for remembering to change your name in the script
<@Luckyfire> I'm not sure, actually. I was asked to be here because I was told I'd be the best person for the part. Also I get to use a Lucario, so there's that.
<%DNA> I guess that makes sense but...
* DNA thinks
<%DNA> wait...
<%DNA> a bunch of sweaty black belts in a dojo being led by a young girl...
<%DNA> they did the exact same thing in Emerald with Greta.
<%DNA> I'm beginning to sense a pattern here.
* DNA shakes fist at the air.
<%DNA> JAPAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!
<@Luckyfire>
<@Luckyfire> Anyway, we might as well battle, right?
<%DNA> Might as well. Whenever you're ready!
I go battle with Luckyfire, who is Maylene's replacement for this run. After all, if it isn't Amt as Maylene, who else would it be? Since this is a Fighting-type gym leader, I lead with Geist, now at lv. 27. She leads with a Meditite, also at lv. 27. Already I'm concerned, since I feel I am at a disadvantage.
Geist plays cautiously as usual, leading off with a Confuse Ray to gauge its strength. Meditite does similarly, trying to buff up with Meditate first. Much to my delight, Geist's following Shadow Punch scores a critical hit and knocks out the Meditite in a single blow! Having not had much trouble at all with the Meditite, Geist stays in for the next Pokemon, a lv. 27 Machoke. As before, he doesn't go all out right away, but gauges Machoke's strength. He takes it slowly, feeling he will go through it without issue if he plays his cards right, but much to his (and my) surprise, Machoke uses a Rock Tomb to lower his Speed. He's still faster than the Machoke, so he manages to get it into the red, but bam, Hyper Potion. Geist isn't concerned, and sure enough, with two more rounds of Night Shade + stop hitting yourself, the Machoke is out.
Now comes the hard part, the lv. 30 Lucario. Geist feels his speed drop will hurt him too much at this point, so he tags out to Crumpets. Crumpets adopts a similar style to Geist, leading with Confuse Ray, resulting in Lucario smacking itself. The Wing Attack scores a critical hit and takes off about half its health, but Lucario responds with a Force Palm, paralyzing Crumpets. Another Wing Attack brings Lucario down further, and although its Drain Punch didn't do much damage to Crumpets, he feels his paralysis will do him in in the end, so he tags back out to Geist, who is immediately met with a face full of Metal Claw, beating him to within an inch of his life. ...er, 'life'. Ghosts are weird like that.
If Lucario ends up being faster than Geist, he'll be out of the picture, but I am confident that Geist will outspeed it, and since Geist is immune to Lucario's priority (if it has any), I don't think I need to worry. Sure enough, a single Night Shade and Lucario is down for the count. Geist and Crumpets both level up from the fight, since they were very close to leveling up anyway.
<@Luckyfire> Wow, you're pretty good, DNA! I wasn't expecting to go up against a Golbat.
<@Luckyfire> I didn't think that was your kind of thing.
<%DNA> I noticed you said nothing about Gengar.
<@Luckyfire> Gengar is something you usually use, right? So it's no surprise.
<%DNA> This is true.
<%DNA> I've always had trouble with the Lucario, so I wasn't sure if I'd be able t-WHOA HOLY DANG CROBAT
<@Luckyfire> ...?
<Crumpets> It appears my transformation is complete. My class and sleek appearance have been further accentuated.
<Crumpets> And it is all thanks to you, master DNA, for your undying trust and care for me.
<Crumpets> I daresay I am even speedier than my friend Geist now.
<%DNA> The happiness, I have all of it. Finally for the first time ever, I'm actually using a Crobat in a professional capacity.
<%DNA> Together, we shall wreck face.
<%DNA> ALL OF IT.
<TorTERROR> man, all you guys with your final evolutions is making me feel really left out
<Crumpets> Worry not, good sir. Your time will come soon.
<TorTERROR> yiss
Lucky then gives me the Cobble Badge, which permits me to use Fly outside of battle - sweet, now that I have Crobat and thus can go wherever. But for now I'll probably just delegate that to Slave 1 (Starly). She also throws in a TM60 Drain Punch. I explain "but this move sucks in Gen 4...", and she tells me to stop being silly and take it. Then she says "Gee, I'm hungry...", and I tell her to go eat something. With that, I wish her well, and then leave.
<@Luckyfire> Gee, I'm hungry...
<@Luckyfire> Oh, sorry, it's nothing. I didn't say anything.
<@Luckyfire> DNA, I can't explain what it means to be strong.
<@Luckyfire> I don't know how much effort goes into being strong...
<@Luckyfire> But being with Pokemon lets us keep making the effort, doesn't it?
<%DNA> I do believe so, yes.
<%DNA> And who knows? We might cross paths again elsewhere. Maybe in some other playthrough where the role of 'young girl gym leader' needs to be filled.
<%DNA> Until then, take care. I'll see you later. Now go eat something.
<@Luckyfire> All right; have fun, DNA! Good luck!
Yeah, those are Maylene's actual post-battle lines from the game. And with that...I think this is a good place to wrap it up!
End of Part 5!
