Writing Fire Emblem: Awakening: PokéBeach Edition! All finished! Stay tuned for the next one...

RE: Fire Emblem Awakening: PokéBeach Member Edition! Paralogue 15

Paralogue 12 & 7: More kids yay!

During our travels, Celever met and fell in love with a wild wyvern. We tried to dissuade her, but she insisted on bringing it with us. As a compromise, Drohn told her we could keep it so long as Celever would be willing to take lessons from PMJ on how to properly fight on a wyvern in combat.

Celever reclassed into Wyvern Lord!

<Light> Alright, what bloody sidequest are you dragging us off to this time, my Lord Drohn? Really, all of this running about is getting draining.
<Drohn> There's apparently some rare and fancy treasure around here somewhere.
<TT> Did you say... treasure?
<Drac> What kind of treasure? Drac hopes is richly! :O
<Drohn> Dunno, but it's apparently rare and fancy.
<Athena> And also protected by a bunch of zombies.
<Light> Oh, dear, I was afraid we were going to have to be fighting again... ._.;
<Celever> I get to fight on my new dragon buddy!

The ruins where the treasure was held were partially submerged by water, but we managed to make our way through. Some other thieves managed to beat us to a few of the chests, but we were able to slay them and reap the rewards ourselves. Once again, SAE and IE took the lead, charging forward, while the rest of us followed, except for Celever who dragged Keeper off to fly loops over the water with her new wyvern. However, I managed to spot a young kid off to the side who... appeared to be wearing my coat? Thinking he might be another one of IE's friends from the future, I hitched a ride with PMJ on Minerva and we flew over.

<Morgan> Oh, hey mom! Wow, you're looking really good.
<Athena> Mom? Oh, does that mean you really are one of the kids who came back from the future with IE?
<Morgan> ... did you bump your head on something? Don't you remember me? I'm your son, Morgan! Of course I'm not from the future; that's ridiculous. And I have no idea who this "IE" person is.
<Athena> It may seem strange, but look at me. Do you really think I'm old enough t o have given birth to a kid as old as you?
<Morgan> *sizes up* I guess not. Maybe that means *I* bumped my head on something. I certainly don't recall coming back from the future... but come to think of it, I can't really remember much of what happened before I woke up lying in these ruins, though I did recognize you as my other.
<Athena> Well, we'll get this sorted out later. For now, come with us!

And so Morgan came with us, though I kept him away from the fray as much as possible since I didn't know if his amnesia would affect his fighting abilities or not. SAE rushed forward and killed the boss, and we managed to sneak off with Naga's Tear, the amazingly cool treasure we came all this way to find. Woohoo? With that safely in tow, we left the temple ruins , only to be greeted by loud sounds of fighting nearby. We rushed over the hill and spotted the site of a Naga Shrine overrun by a bunch of ruffians. A few villagers were holed up in the shrine trying to protect it, and so we rushed forward to their aid.

<Villager> Thanks so much for coming to rescue us!
<Light> Happy to help, dear. if there's anything the world needs less of, it's bandits.
<Brady> Wait, I know that voice... HEY YOU!
<Light> ... excuse me?
<Brady> Yep, you're Professor Light alright. I'd recognize that tone of condescension anywhere!
<Light> And just how do you know that?! Do you leer at me from behind the shades of whatever den of iniquity you frequent?!
<Brady> Nope! I know it because I'm your son from the future, Brady!
<Light> You mean I gave birth to... you? Oh dear...

I quickly arranged everyone in a defensive formation, keeping all of the entrances of the shrine protected. IE introduced us all to Light and Cinesra's future son, Brady, who was a Priest. The enemies rushed us quickly, trying to find a weak spot in our formation, but we managed to stand firm. In the end, it was their rashness that caused their loss, when their boss brazenly went after Cinesra with a Tomahawk. Cinesra managed to fell him in a single shot and the rest of the brigands scattered. The remaining villagers gave us a gift for helping to protect their shrine, and we moved on to the next sidequest.

Please vote for your choice(s)! If a suggestion gets 2 separate votes from different sources (posts, not likes), the promotion/change will happen before the next chapter. The only exception to this rule is any unit who hits Lv. 20 in either class, in which case they must be sealed before the next chapter, no matter how many votes.

Current Suggestions:

Class Changes:
SAE -> Troubadour (1), Trickster@30 (1)

Paralogues: It's time to catch up on our sidequests! If you have a preference for order, feel free to speak up, otherwise I'm mostly aiming to get all of the kids, then do Hot Springs, then get Tiki, then go back to the main plot.

DLC, Wireless Menu, & Shopping: Current Gold: 14,994

DLC votes: Like promotion/reclassing, 2 votes means yes
Hot Spring Scramble (2) - (after Nah) conversations and stuff between characters, also some special art
Lost Bloodlines (1) - (after C20) Enables us to get a Dread Scroll which gives an extra class option to any of our male units.

Feel free to suggest any levels you'd like to see done, or second any existing suggestions!

Player Notes:

2 chapters today thanks to my husband continually choosing to snooze rather than wake up when he originally intended to. :p I'm not really putting as much of a focus on the remaining kids as much since we're not using them and all. Morgan's level was much easier than I remembered it and Brady's harder; I did end up having to restart Brady's once after a couple of Snipers got some lucky shots on Light in a row; I kept her out of range the second time around since there were so many Snipers in this level.

Otherwise, not much to report, really. Cinesra taking out the boss did amuse me because I forgot this was a "defeat boss" chapter and not a rout chapter so it ended rather abruptly.

SAE is aaaaaalmost Lv. 30 now (like ~30 exp away I think), so if people want to start suggesting for her to reclass (or to reclass back to a Lv. 1 Manakete) for when she hits 30, you're welcome to. That way I can do whatever after Gerome's chapter tomorrow and still do 2 chapters in the next update, otherwise chances are that Gerome's update will have to be on his own for us to choose her path.

RE: Fire Emblem Awakening: PokéBeach Member Edition! Paralogues 12 & 7

Light is getting awfully close to that magic number...

I vote to change SAE into a Sorcerer once she reaches level 30.

RE: Fire Emblem Awakening: PokéBeach Member Edition! Paralogues 12 & 7

Yeah, Light will probably make 15 in the next chapter or two and get her skill, so if you want to start putting in votes for her reclass @15, feel free.

RE: Fire Emblem Awakening: PokéBeach Member Edition! Paralogue 15

Paralogue 11: Enter Batman

<TT> So, uh, where to next?
<Drohn> We're heading to Wyvern Valley, the home of a large wild wyvern population.
<Athena> And, uh, why exactly are we heading there again?
<Drohn> I lost a bet with PMJ. So my choices were either to visit this valley, or spend the rest of the war fighting in panties.
<PMJ> Don't worry, I'm sure we'll all have a great time! ^_^
<Drac> Are you sure? Drac thinks that Minerva is not so happy about valley.
<PMJ> What's that Minerva? Bandits? OHMY!
<Palutena> Ohgood, we'll have something to keep us busy while we're here.
<Cinesra> Oh, hay, who's that weird, brooding kid over there refusing to help the villagers?
<Light> Ugh, he looks like some kind of emo loser.
<IE> No, that's Batman! He's PMJ and Drac's son. I know him from the future!
<Drohn> I suppose we'd better drag him along then. Let's go!

The Wyvern Valley was not a place for acrophobics. The place was mostly a bunch of jutting peaks with a few rickety wooden bridges spanning across the way. We prepared for battle against the brigands while PMJ went off to talk to her future son.

<PMJ> Hey, Batman, you gonna come help us fight these brigands or what?
<Batman> Of course not. I'm going to sit here and write depressing poems instead. No man can stop the fate of this awful world.
<PMJ> ... I'm pretty sure these villagers are about to be killed by spears, not fate.
<Batman> Spoken like one who has yet to witness fate's implacable cruelty.
<PMJ> So you're a coward, got it.
<Batman> Am not.
<PMJ> Are too!
<Batman> Am not!
<PMJ> then come fight with us!
<Batman> Fiiiiine, whatever. ~sigh~

I wasn't quite sure how well I could PMJ's depressed son to actually accomplish anything, so I mostly kept him in the back protecting villagers. I sent our flyers out with their significant others on their backs to reach those places that were only accessible by air while the rest of us slowly made our way over the creaking bridges. I took the front with Drohn, Cinesra, and Light, though poor Cinesra seemed to draw the most enemies this time around. Celever and Keeper landed on a bridge to the right and started working their way up while PMJ and Drac patrolled the skies. We ended up kicking ass and saving everyone, like usual.

<Villager> Man, you guys rock! Thanks for saving us, and take this as a gift of appreciation.
<Drohn> Isn't this a... sword that's specifically made to kill wyverns? Why do you even have this?
<PMJ> Hey, you, moping future son.
<Batman> Wait, you mean you know who I am?
<PMJ> Yeah, IE told us, though I would have recognized Minerva even if she hadn't. I'd know my sweetheart anywhere, and yours is much to close to mine to be anything but her future self.
<Batman> Yes, Minevra was all I had left of you after you died. Darkness. No parents. The opposite of light.
<PMJ> I'm glad you've taken such good care of her.
<Batman> I actually came back to the past to set her free to live among her kind. That's why I'm here. Don't think I'm going to hang out with you just because you're my mom, though. I've already written all these awesome songs about being an orphan, so I don't plan on getting close.
<PMJ> That sounds, uh, lovely.
<Drac> Maybe it would have been better if Drohn had won bet...

Player Notes:

Just the one chapter this time since SAE hit her max and I'd like to reclass her before we move on.

Gerome really is emo, dragon-riding Batman. It is the truth. I love how he just kind of ends up as part of your army even though he flat out states that he has no desire to fight. I think he just tags along because he wouldn't have anyone else to read his awful poetry to if he stayed in Wyvern Valley by himself.

I was really surprised how enemies kept bee-lining for Cinesra. I was actually hoping to level Drohn up more, but Cinesra just killed everyone before he had a chance to step in. In fact, most of the enemies this level seemed to be particularly dumb. A lot of the wyvern rider enemies flew over to sacrifice themselves on IE's blade, too.

Now that we've picked up all our kids, the next chapter will likely be both Tiki and Hot Springs. Make sure to vote for SAE's reclassing! Or to keep her as a manakete, too, which would be fine. I even went ahead and put SAE's own request to stay as a manakete as a proper vote. Everyone else can be reclassed, too, and Light is the first to reach 15 and get her skill.

It's looking like the playthrough will probably finish up next week if there isn't a sudden flood of desire to see more DLC levels or anything.

RE: Fire Emblem Awakening: PokéBeach Member Edition! DLC: Hot-Spring Scrambled Eggs

DLC: Hot-Spring Scrambled Eggs + Paralogue 17 and Tiki!

<Light> We've found all of our future children now, yes? Does this mean we can get back to business now? I'm so tired of all this traipsing around.
<Drohn> I know we're all tired from running around and collecting everyone, but good news! We have a vacation booked at a hot springs resort.
<Everyone> Woohoo!
<Anna> Welcome Prince Drohn! And your guests, of course. Let's see.... Athena, Cinesra, Light, TT, Celever, Drac, Palutena, PMJ, Keeper, IE, and SAE, yes? I have all of your reservations right here~
<Drohn> Wait, how do you know who we are?
<Anna> You're all celebrities, of course! Saving us from the Mad King, killing all the risen, fighting against the aggression of Valm... we even take votes on which of you we like the best!
<Drohn> Uh, thanks, I think.
<Light> Oh dear, this is simply dreadful!
<Athena> What's wrong with the hot springs?
<Keeper> I don't see why everyone's making such a fuss, it's just a few Risen is all.
<PMJ> Risen in the hot springs? Oh dear.
<Anna> Yes, our hot springs do tend to attract, uh, wildlife. Being such a warm spot in the middle of a cold area and all.
<Celever> Well, we won't be able to relax in the water until we kill all the dead things in it, so let's go!
<Anna> And away they go... I didn't even have a chance to talk them into changing into yukata yet...

We all rushed into the hot springs area and, sure enough, Risen were everywhere, though most of them were soaking and relaxing the springs rather than attacking anyone. Still, we couldn't just let them hog all of the nice spots, so we broke out our weapons and entered the fray.

<IE> SAE, look out; it's slippery fighting here!
<SAE> Oh, thanks IE, I--- whoops!
<IE> ...what did I just say... x.x;
<SAE> Well, uh, thanks for catching me at least?
<IE> You're most welcome.
<SAE> You know, it's funny, everyone treats me like a kid...
<IE> I didn't mean it in that way...
<SAE> No, no, I get it, you were just looking out for me, and I know I look like I'm 12, but what I was going to say is that I don't mind it when you treat me like a kid, though it bugs me when everyone else does.
<IE> I'm sorry. I guess it is because you look so young, but I always kind of imagine you like my little sister.
<SAE> That's wonderful! I never knew you cared so much about me...
...
<SAE> HAY SIS! :D
<IE> Sis...? Oh, SAE, was that you?
<SAE> Well, you said you thought of me like a sister and I got all excited.... you don't mind, do you? You said we were like sisters. :<
<IE> I don't mind, it's just... kind of confusing in the middle of combat? Can we stick to using regular names while we're fighting at least?
<SAE> Oh, yeah, I guess that makes sense. Sorry, IE.
<IE> No apology needed!
<SAE> Oh, this reminds me! I did have a favour I wanted to ask of my new sister.
<IE> Yes?
<SAE> Once the battle is done... would you like to hang out in the hot springs with me? And maybe comb my hair? And we can gossip about boys?
<IE> I'd be happy to, it sounds like fun.
<SAE> Yay! You're the best sister. <3 Now let's go kill some monsters. The sooner they're done, the sooner I can tell you about my crush; you'll never guess who it is!
<IE> ... wait, what? >_>
<Anna> Hey, IE, come over here!
<IE> Oh, yes, you're the proprietress of this establishment. Can I help you?
<Anna> I didn't want to say it in public in front of everyone, but do you remember when I mentioned how we like to vote for our favourite amongst you all?
<IE> Yes...?
<Anna> Well, you were this month's winner! And since you're visiting us and all, I wanted to give you a special prize.
<IE> I'm flattered, but...
<Anna> Here is your prize, this special commemorative yukata! Here, come in, I'll help you get it tied on right...
<IE> Okay... ohmy, these yukata are simply gorgeous! I love the one with the Brand on it.
<Anna> Well, that one was intended for your father, but sure, you can wear that one if you like.
hot-springs-scramble-lucina.png

<IE> It's gorgeous!
<Anna> Looks like it was made just for you!
<IE> I guess I better change back now...
<Anna> But you look so good! :<
<IE> Yeah, but it's very impractical for fighting, and there are still Risen to be slain!
<Anna> Well, feel free to come back anytime you'd like to try it on again!

IE's adventures with the yukata done, she entered back into the fray. More Risen were appearing from the entrances, but they were all pretty handily defeated, except for the ones that were relaxing in the pools. It was hard to fight in the water, and their leader was back in the deepest hot spring, so Drohn and I had to wade our way slowly out there to take care of him. Finally, they were all defeated and we were able to relax. I was stripping down to enter the women's bath before going into the public springs when...

<Anna> Say cheese! *snap*
<Athena> Wha... what is that? A magic tome? "Snapshot magic"? Are you spying on us?!
<Anna> Just keep going about your normal business. You've got a really cute body... *snap*
<Athena> Stop it!
<Anna> Hold still! We don't want the important bits to get blurred...
<Athena> Here's how it's done! *splash*
<Anna> ...HEY! You splashed my tome, you hag! So you want to play dirty? All right, then... Ready to get gouged? *splash*
<Athena> Rrrgrrph! Why, you little— T-time to tip the scales! *splash*
<Anna> *Gurgle* Pfffft! Not bad, tiny... But I'm just getting started. Here's a freebie!
<Athena> Grr... I will destroy you, peeper. Count on it!
...
<Keeper> What's going on over in the women's bath? I hear lots of shouting.
<TT> And splashing... maybe we should go check it out? >.> <.<
<Drohn> I hope nothing bad is... ope, there's Athena now... getting shoved out the door and into the springs. Is... is she fighting with the proprietress?
<Drac> Maybe Drac will just watch a little, make sure no one gets hurt, yes?
<Cinesra> Oh, yeah, this is definitely going to be good...*grabs popcorn*
...
<Drohn> So, does either of you feel like explaining what happened?
<Anna> Athena should be ashamed of herself, wrecking my precious tome like that. There goes my nest egg... Though, at least she had something nice to say to me at the end.
<Drohn> Really? What did he/she say?
<Athena> I thanked her for giving us all a chance to relax and have fun. After all, it's not very often we get to show our true colors.
<Anna> That's not all she showed...
<Athena> *sigh* ...Can we go now?
<Anna> Heh. You're kinda cute when you blush, Athena. Anyway, dinner is ready, so why don't you all scurry over to the dining hall? A hearty meal after a nice, long soak in the springs really hits the spot. ^_^

I avoided Anna for the rest of our stay, but like everyone else, I found the hot springs trip overall to be nice and relaxing. I awoke the next morning free of sores and ready to head back to Valm and resume our campaign against DNA. Soon, we were on a boat heading back to the battlefield, but before we could head back to Valm's capital, Porygon-X hooked up with us.

<Porygon> Hey guys, I'm glad you're back! You're just in time for the ceremony!
<Drohn> Ceremony?
<Porygon> Tiki is going to commune with Naga to regain some of her holy power. It's in this cool place called the Dragon's Cradle; you should come watch!
<SAE> Wow, this Dragon's Cradle is a super nice place!
<TT> Yeah, very nice and calming. And the air smells sweet!
<IE> And, look, there's Tiki!
<Porygon> Shhh, she's performing the holy rites now. She needs stillness so she can concentrate.
<Keeper> Well, I guess now would be a good time to tell you that I see a bunch of monsters headed our way?
<Drohn> Everyone, protect Lady Tiki!

I made up a quick defensive formation around the grove where Tiki was doing her thing and we all braced for the onslaught. Enemies seemed to make a priority of rushing for Tiki if they could, or targetting me if they couldn't try and make it to her, and it wasn't long before my formation broke up as people rushed around trying to stop the Risen from getting anywhere close to Tiki. Eventually they ran out of reinforcements and I was able to slay their leader.

<Tiki> *phew* That's all done. Ohmy, did something exciting happen while I was busy?
<Porygon> Lady Tiki! Is the ritual complete?
<Tiki> Yep! I'm fighting fit. I'd like to join up with you guys and help you fight now, if you'll have me.
<Drohn> Well, we've got 2 dragons already, but I'll not say no to a third. Sure, you're in.
<Tiki> Yay!

Player Notes:

No new votes for SAE? I am disappoint you guys. Since it was a humongous tie, I ended up taking SAE's own suggestion as the tie-breaker, since it's her character and all, and SAE reclasses back to Lv. 1 Manakete so she can keeping dragoning things.

This ended up being a bit of a long chapter because of all the dialogue in the Hot Springs. I had forgotten about the closing scene with Anna and Athena, but it was so awesome I had to keep it in. I was kind of a bit lazy and kept a lot of the original dialogue for that part, but it's awesome dialogue so I don't feel bad. And I went ahead and put Tiki's level in here too because I knew that one would also be fairly short.

So, tomorrow's chapter will get us back on track to the main plot. Feel free to vote for any other DLC levels you'd like to see as well.

The Hot Springs level was fairly easy. I mostly sent people around to hit all the shiny spots (there are like 20 or so in these "scramble" levels instead of the usual 2) and defend while the other guys came after me. I kept SAE and IE together but not paired up to trigger their combos and rushed them to the hut for IE's yukata scene. Since IE is the only kid who gets a scene and therefore there's not much point into me getting into detail, I simplified some things and therefore kind of skipped some of the narrative stuff, but the chapter was long enough anyway. I was mostly trying to get Drohn levels but the people who came after him kept being ranged folk, so after that level I finally succumbed and used an Arms Scroll on him so he has a javelin in his inventory at least.

Tiki's level was a bit harder, partially because I'm not playing with a full deck. I actually did do one preemptive restart because I was unhappy with my starting setup and was afraid Tiki would get slaughtered. I also summoned Gharnef to the Map so I could buy a Mire just in case (and I got a Waste while I was there), though I didn't end up needing it. I was also totally accurate in my write up in that I started everyone in a nice defensive formation that broke down because I just didn't have enough people and so I ended up doing a lot of breaking formation to go kill that guy or whatever.

We've got a few more Lv. 15ers, IE and Athena. Many others are getting close, too, so feel free to start thinking up some more reclasses.

Chapter 20: Delicious Plot

<HW> Oh crap, oh crap, did you see all those guys out there? I DON'T WANT TO DIE. ;~;
<DNA> Yeah, we all know you're a plotting coward, HW.
<HW> Whatever do you mean, my lord? >.> <.<
<DNA> Oh, come on, the blackmailing, the scheming, your little love letters with Shining Raikou in Plegia. You must think I'm dense if you really think I don't know everything you've been up to. And that's why you get to lead my personal guard today when we fight this Prince Drohn and his people.
<HW> Uhh... I think that honour would be best given to Cervantes, my lord....
<Cervantes> Oh, don't worry, I'll be there, too.
<DNA> But you, HW, will get to be right in front. Unless you'd prefer to fight me yourself right here and now?
<HW> Of course, I'm happy to serve my lord however he feels best *bows*
<HW> *whisper* I've got to find a way out of this somehow...

With Tiki recruited, our little group finally made its way back to the capital. Camo had done a great job of holding the fort for us, and it wasn't long before we were geared up and ready to take DNA and his cronies down for sure. We went over last minute battle strategies then stormed into his throne room where DNA's large personal guard and all of his remaining officers were ready and waiting for us.

Thanks to inside information from some of of the former resistance members, we learned that DNA had a rather large fortune stashed in some side rooms, so I sent TT and Palutena to one chamber and SAE and IE to the other armed with skeleton keys. The rest of us took the center path where the majority of the soldiers were stationed. One of their remaining generals (a man I recognized from the battle to free Tiki the first time) came at us quickly, hoping to take down Keeper with a surprise shot, but only managed to suicide himself. Many other soldiers tried to take revenge on Keeper for slaying their leader, but he and Celever kept picking them off like flies and we continued our advance.

The next section of troops was led by HW, the weird purple-haired guy that had come to gloat about his blackmailing of Kecleon. Rather than come at us himself, he sent all of his troops swarming at Drohn, though me and him were able to take them down rather well. While we were handling that, HW sent a magic attack at Drac, though PMJ saw through the ruse in time to block the attack from connecting and Cinesra ran forward to cut HW down once and for all.

The next and last section of the throne room was under the control of DNA himself. We moved forward cautiously to draw out his guards so that by the time it came to combat with DNA, he wouldn't have any support. Some reinforcements started coming at us from the entrance, so I sent the others to take care of them while Drohn and I went after DNA ourselves.

<Drohn> DNA!
<DNA> Prince...
<Drohn> Will you surrender?
<DNA> Don't waste my time with questions you know the answers to, boy.
<Drohn> Look, you don't have to keep doing this. We're both in this for the same cause, to try and unite people. Join with us instead of fighting us! We could use a competent guy like you.
<DNA> ME, JOIN YOU?! Does a pegasus join with the flea on its back? A dragon, with a cow it eats?! You forget your place, BOY. I am the Conqueror! I will unite the world!
<Drohn> Well, that's where you're wrong, because it's going to be me that unites everyone, and I'm going to do it with the power of love and friendship rather than just killing everyone that disagrees with me. Except for you, I guess.

DNA put up a good fight, but between Drohn's swordwork, my magic, and our teamwork, he didn't stand a chance.

<DNA> Nngh... Do you see? Often the sword...is the only way... My conquest...ends here...

With DNA's death, the remaining soldiers surrendered and Drohn called off the rest of the attack. Porygon managed to find the gemstone Greeny that HW had stolen from Kecleon and gave it gratefully to Drohn to continue building the Fire Emblem.

<Drohn> You know, it's funny, DNA and my sister were basically complete opposites, but they were both really good at inspiring people and had the same goals.
<Cinesra> I guess it just goes to prove what I've always said, that Charisma isn't just a dump stat.
<IE> Yeah, well, they may have both wanted to unite people, but killing everyone to accomplish that goal is still pointless. That's what good old grand-dad did and look what that led to. History won't look on DNA any kinder, and not just because we're writing that history.
<Drohn> Well, for how we still need to work on protecting the future so we can have a history. I'm going to send TT off with some of Camo's spies to see if they can figure out where the last gemstone is, and then I'm going to have to perform the Awakening ceremony. I managed to pick up a book about it while we were off on our sidequests. Seems like it's kind of a dangerous ceremony.
<Athena> oh?
<Drohn> "Whosoever attempts the Awakening Rite must brave Naga's fire. If both body and spirit survive the agony, they are blessed with the Divine Dragon's power. Otherwise, the candidate...dies."
<IE> Are you sure you need to do this? >_>
<Drohn> Yep. But it's cool, I got this.
<TT> Hey guys, I'm baaaack.
<Drohn> That was fast.
<TT> Well, I didn't have to go any further than the courier post. Seems Plegia's had the last gemstone for some time. King WPM sent you a letter inviting you to take it. Though, he does insist that you come personally to Plegia to accept the offering.
<Athena> Smells like a trap, again.
<Drohn> It could just be political posturing, but then again, I never thought that Risen encounter when we visited Plegia last time was just an accident... but... let's send word back that we accept the invitation.
<TT> Are you, uh, sure that's a good idea?
<Drohn> We don't really have much of a choice. We need the gemstone, and we can prepare a lot more before we go this time.
<Keeper> Do you think we should leave the Fire Emblem behind?
<Drohn> He could be expecting that and send spies to steal it while we're gone. I think it's better off staying with us where we can keep an eye on it. I don't trust anyone to protect the Emblem more than us.
<Athena> Well, let's start planning!

Player Notes:

Awww, come on guys, is Keeper going to be the only person suggesting reclasses? :p We've got some more Lv. 15 people now, so do please feel free to make suggestions.

This level actually went by really quickly. Most people are pretty good at just demolishing things at this point, so progress was very steady. SAE and IE got the honour of being the other-side chest crackers for both of them having rather small inventories; I keep everyone else full up with different kinds of weapons, but IE doesn't need much more than her Falchion and Noble Rapier, and SAE has a Dragonstone and a Dragonstone+ since there's not exactly many different choices for her weapon. :U The only person who really took any damage was PMJ with a silver bow hit that she didn't manage to dodge nicely. Otherwise, we're just kicking ass and taking names.

Kind of short notes today because I need to be off in a bit to do some other stuff, but I didn't want to delay posting. Hope you guys enjoy the chapter!

RE: Fire Emblem Awakening: PokéBeach Member Edition! Chapter 20

Keeper > Sorc
TT > Swordmaster
Drac > Warrior
Cinesra > Griffon Rider

Really hate reclassing Tharja, and it's a little late at this point.
edit: Drac is listed as 15 but doesn't have his fourth skill listed. If he isn't 15, ignore my vote until he is.

RE: Fire Emblem Awakening: PokéBeach Member Edition! Chapter 20

I'm not actually sure; but if he's not 15 now, he will be next chapter so I can still keep the vote in place for when he is.

Not that it actually matters if no one else ever votes.

Yes, I'm looking right at you people who keep liking my updates but haven't suggested anything. :p

RE: Fire Emblem Awakening: PokéBeach Member Edition! Chapter 20

Oooookay. I'm here now. So who needs reclassing?

RE: Fire Emblem Awakening: PokéBeach Member Edition! Chapter 20

All of the people under the "Promoted Second Seal Use" can be reclassed. Keeper's votes right now are only for those units who have reached Lv. 15 since that means they got both of their skills for this class.

RE: Fire Emblem Awakening: PokéBeach Member Edition! Chapter 20

So we need to promote everything in the second seal?

RE: Fire Emblem Awakening: PokéBeach Member Edition! Chapter 20

We don't need to promote anyone (if it was necessary, I'd put it in a separate bold line like I've done previously), but it would be fun, and people actually providing input makes me feel less like I'm just typing to myself and that no one actually cares. :p

Of course nobody ACTUALLY cares, Athena. We're simply here for moral support.

...No, kidding, re-class them Dark Fliers. That I do care about.

Promote Light to Falcon Knight
Drac to Berserker
IE to Dark Flyer

Those all sound cool ^-^

RE: Fire Emblem Awakening: PokéBeach Member Edition! DLC: Hot-Spring Scrambled Eggs

Chapter 21: Obvious trap is obvious

We all worked very careful on building up a solid plan before heading to Plegia into the obvious trap. I drilled everyone's roles into them perfectly: Drohn, be a badass; Cinesra & Light, snooty and deadly at all time; TT, always on the lookout for any sweet loot; Celever... just go play or whatever; Drac & PMJ, tank scouts; Palutena and Keeper, laugh creepily at all times; IE, run around everywhere; SAE, kill everything that moves; and of course, Athena, be the best tactician evar!!1!1 IE took her assignment very seriously and to improve her epic movement even further, she decided to train on a pegasus. Of course, this means she has to give up her Falchion and fight with lances and magic now, but she was determined to make it work.

Ice Espeon has reclassed into Dark Flyer!

Once everything and everyone was ready, we prepared for a state trip to Plegia, home of my father, WPM, and the sexy SR.

<IE> So, this is Plegia Castle, huh?
<Drohn> Yeah, I guess you only saw the back entrance when you followed us before.
<SAE> It looks.... well, just about as creepy as I would expect from an evil lair, honestly.
<IE> Ohgod, is that the skull of Grima?
<Palutena> It's only a model.
<IE> It looks just like him, right size, 6 eye holes. Ugh.
<Keeper> Wait, you mean you've actually seen Grima? Cool!
<SAE> Actually, he was totally gross.
<IE> A cataclysmic war ushered his return... It's said he fed on the souls of the fallen before turning upon the living...
<SAE> He also made a totally stereotypical "evil villain" speech about how we were all going to die and stuff.
<Drohn> Well, once we get this last gemstone we'll be able to take care of Grima before he can nom on anyone's souls.
<Athena> Speaking of getting that last gemstone, I've seen over a dozen "hidden" soldiers during our approach already.
<Cinesra> What a surprise; the obvious trap is, indeed, a trap.
<Athena> Everyone make note of our planned escape route and put on your happy faces.
<WPM> Prince Drohn! How wonderful to see you again.
<SR> Well met! *wink*
<Drohn> So, uh, I heard you had something for me?
<SR> Oh, no time for pleasantries? :<
<WPM> Your fervent desire concerns me. The Gemstones and the Fire Emblem can be...treacherous artifacts. A fact Plegia and the Grimleal sadly know all too well...
<IE> "Sadly"? You speak ill of when the first exalt used them against the fell dragon?
<WPM> Well, duh, that "fell dragon" is my god.
<SAE> So, what's up with the whole "worshipping a giant evil dragon that just wants to eat the entire world" anyway? I mean, honestly, do you guys actually get anything out of that deal?
<WPM> I don't have to defend my religion to you. Anyway, I'm tired of chatting now. Drohn, hand over the Fire Emblem.
<Drohn> What, are you kidding?
<WPM> Nope. Gimme!
<Drohn> No way!
<WPM> In that case, I'll just have to kill you all and take it for myself. Guards!
<Athena> Quick, everyone to the escape route! There will likely still be soldier there, but at least it'll give us a chance to get out of this castle in one piece.

And so we fled down the shortest path out of the castle that I had remembered from our previous trips here. It was also nice in that it had a bunch of loot stash around for us to grab on our way out. Everyone paired up with their partners and began to take out the soldiers as they rushed us. Some Dark Mages hid behind walls to attack us with long-range magic, but they all had pretty terrible aim. Probably because they couldn't see. TT and Palutena went off to raid the chests while the rest of us cleared a path to the exit. Once our looting was complete, Celever rushed forward to take out their leader and we were clear.

Or almost clear.

<WPM> *teleport* Hold it! *magic attack*
<Drohn> Urk! *stumble*
<WPM> Wahahahahahaha, you cannot escape fate! Now, I'll ask you one more time. GIVE. ME. THE. FIRE. EMBLEM.
<Drohn> NO. WAY.
<WPM> Alright, fine, I guess I'll have to rely on the magic mind control I have over my daughter. Athena, be a sweetheart and grab the Fire Emblem for daddy.
<Athena> My head! Urgh...
<Drohn> Athena, what's wrong? Were those conveniently timed headaches actually a foreshadowing of some kind of magical mind control? I had no idea!
<WPM> Come on, go get it, Athena. Fetch!
<Athena> Nngh, no, I... Aarrrrgh!

Fighting as hard as I could with each step, I still could not overpower WPM's control over my mind. I was powerless as he used my body to wrench the Fire Emblem away from Drohn and fling it in the direction of my dear father.

<WPM> Such a good girl. Thank you, my child. Now just to insert Blacky here and the Fire Emblem is complete and in my control! Now to set the Table and perform the rite... *teleport away*
<Drohn> Goddammit.
<Athena> I'm so sorry. :<
<Drohn> Yeah, I know. Let's get out of here.
<Athena> Look, you know... you really shouldn't trust me. WPM can just take control of me again if he wants to no matter how much I fight it. I don't know how, but it's some kind of blood dark magic shenanigans.
<Drohn> Yeah, well, we might not fully understand it, but we do know he doesn't have full control. You were fighting him the whole time. There might be a way we can use that against him.
<Athena> *sigh* You put too much faith in me.
<Drohn> Look, what happened happened, but we need to move on and we can't do this without you.

It was too late for us to much traveling, so we set up camp in as secure a location as we could make. Everyone gathered around to eat, rest, and relax, but I was too antsy and uncomfortable, so I went for a walk by myself among the grasses and trees. Unbeknownst to me, IE decided to tag along.

<IE> Hey, mother, uh... could I talk to you for a second?
<Athena> Sure.
<IE> It's about Prince Drohn, my father... I do have memories of him before he died, you know. He was a pretty cool dude, and everyone loved him. And even now, I've grown to know him so much more. When he dies... the world will be robbed of a great man, again.
<Athena> Yeah, I understand. You love him. So do I.
<IE> I'm so sorry, but.... *whips out Falchion*
<Athena> IE?!
<IE> I'm sorry but, I have to kill you, I have no choice.
<Athena> Back up a step here; I'm missing something.
<IE> In my future... you're the one who kills father.
<Athena> That doesn't make any sense! Why would I kill him?
<IE> I didn't understand it at first either. I had suspicions at first, knowing how close you are, and knowing that father was killed by his closest friend, but as I got to know, I didn't think it would be possible... but now I've seen how WPM can manipulate your mind, I know how it happens. You may not want to admit it, but you're at WPM's mercy. He can force you to kill Prince Drohn whenever he wants.
<Athena> IE...
<IE> If dad is right, we can change our fates. And I can change the fate of his death by killing you right here and now. If this dark future is to be averted, sacrifices must be made. I know you're my mom and all, and I'm so sorry, but... it will be a swift and painless death, at least that I can assure you.
<Athena> Well... I've always been fighting with the knowledge that I would be willing to give my life for either Drohn or you. And I don't disagree with you about WPM's control. So, alright, go ahead. I love you, IE.
<IE> Mother.... :<
<Athena> ...
<IE> ...
<Athena> So, uh, about that quick death...
<IE> I just can't do it! I love you too much. ;~;
<Drohn> So, uh, you guys done yet?
<IE> ... oh, hay dad. Look, I can explain... >.>
<Drohn> No need, I was eavesdropping. Look, I know your heart is in the right place, IE, but I trust Athena fully and completely. You cannot shake my faith in her. We're two halves of a single whole, and I believe in our combined power more than any foretold destiny.
<IE> Easy for you to say. >_>
<Drohn> Well, we've changed things before, and we'll change more still. Don't give up on us just yet.
<IE> Well, I'll just trust in both of you to prove me wrong, then.

Player Notes:

So, Keeper rejoices because we finally have a Dark Flyer on our team. Poor IE was stuck with bronze lock starting out because I've been bad about training her with lances, but with her Aether/Ignis/RK she was still really good about killing things, and SAE as backup was happy to help. Also, that delicious 10 move, man.

I'm mostly focusing on training Celever and IE at this point to get their weapon levels higher. Celever has something of an advantage in this because Keeper is also so happy to help. Without any supports, the SAE/IE combo is less effective at dual strikes and such, but IE didn't need the help as much. IE is now at Lances D and Celever at Axes C and Lances D. I've given IE some tomes, but her magic is fairly low and a lot of the enemies this level had good res. I did give her the magic dust, though, and the dracoshield and skill book went to Light.

Fairly easy level. The hardest part was getting to all the chests before killing the boss, especially since he moves. I ended up having Drohn get 2 of the chests with keys pulled from the convoy. IE is a bit more fragile as a DF and so she took a bit of a pounding (especially after an assassin got a lucky hit with a silver bow), but it was nothing she couldn't fight her way out of. Everyone else was doing pretty smooth.

As far as plot goes, I love how nobody ever noticed the headache foreshadowing with Athena (not even Athena herself even though she knows he was able to get into her head before) and even after it was obvious that WPM had some kind of control over her, Drohn still let her take the Fire Emblem. I mean, it wasn't like a quick snatch and grab, she's grabbing her head and fighting every step while WPM is obviously telling her what to do. Basically, it's just silly.

RE: Fire Emblem Awakening: PokéBeach Member Edition! Chapter 22

Chapter 22: No one is ever going to explain how and why people actually worship Grima

After we rested for the night, we pressed on as soon as it was light to see if we could find WPM and get the Fire Emblem back.

<Keeper> Well, it seems like the locals are also up nice and early with us!
<Athena> The locals?
<Light> AUGH! It's a bunch of Risen!
<Cinesra> No, my love, I'm pretty sure these people are just walking like zombies, not actual monsters.
<Light> It's still disgusting.
<PMJ> Excuse me, sir! Can you--
<Villager> ...the appointed...time... to the Dragon's...Table... our prayers...Grima...
<Drac> Hah, Drac thinks these people zombies may be useful after all, eh?
<TT> Hey guys, the scouts just reported back. It turns out WPM headed to this crazy altar called the "Dragon's Table" and that is also appears all of the other Grima-followers are headed there, too.
<Palutena> Yes, dear, we already figured that much out for ourselves.
<Drohn> Welp, let's follow the zombies then. Just... let's move at a bit faster speed.

Gearing ourselves up for battle, we moved past the horde of slow-moving Grimleal, each muttering to themselves, and made our way south through the desert to a dusty courtyard, the entrance to the Dragon Table altar. WPM and SR were there waiting for us along with a small army of incredibly powerful Risen, actual Risen this time.

<Drohn> Look, WPM, just give up and give us the Fire Emblem back already, would you?
<WPM> Oh, hey, look who showed up. You must be really anxious to meet the fell dragon Grima, Prince Drohn.
<Drohn> Pfft, as if. There's no way we're going to allow you to resurrect that evil dragon guy.
<WMP> You think you have a choice in the matter? You're wrong. This is your destiny.
<Drohn> Yeah, well, we've changed destiny before and we'll do it again.
<SR> Oh, really now? And what destiny was that? Your victory over King Spoon? Your defeat of DNA the Conqueror? Both of those things were meant to happen, you were all just acting out your parts on the stage like puppets.
<Drohn> Yeah? Well, what about Brave Vesperia?
<SR> Oh, she was fated to die too, you only changed the method. Spoon held the exalt in contempt, yes, so WPM and I used him. In life AND death. The king's demise threw Plegia into chaos. It drove the people to Grima... Now their life force and rancor can be laid before the fell dragon en masse.
<Drohn> ... wait, what?
<SR> It is called the Table for a reason, you naive little man. It is where Grima feeds! The Grimleal have gladly offered themselves to him for ages. Even now, they pray for his return... Today the Table overflows with bounty, and their prayers will be answered!
<Drohn> You.... You're going to let Grima eat all of your people? Are you mad? That's the worst thing I've ever heard! I'll do everything I can to stop you!
<SR> Goodness! Now you're starting to sound like DNA, the big bully... He intended to destroy Grima as well, you know.
<WPM> ...Our thanks, incidentally, for taking him off the stage for us. *evil grin*
<Drohn> So that's why you gave us your ships and treasure but no soldiers... Get rid of DNA, but keep the faithful Plegians as dragon food...
<WPM> Welp, looks like the evil guy telling you his plans speech has come to an end. SR, I leave the rest of this to you. For me, it's time to prepare a feast for a dragon!
<SR> Don't worry, I've got this. The Deadlords and I will keep them busy long enough!
<Drohn> Hey! Come back here!
<TT> So, uh, is anyone going to bother explaining why all of these Plegians actually worship this dark dragon god that's going to eat them and destroy the world? No? Oh well, can't blame a guy for asking.

It was too late for complaints or questions, however, as WPM was already inside the altar's temple and SR was guarding the gate. We split up to take care of her Deadlords, IE, SAE, PMJ, and Drac to the left; Palutena, TT, Keeper, and Celever to the right; and me, Drohn, Celever, and Light down the center to rush at SR. Although her Deadlords were powerful, there were few of them, and we were able to take them down individually without much risk. Soon, there wasn't anything standing between us as the gate but SR herself.

<Drohn> Hey, SR, before I kill you, I have a quick question...
<SR> *smirk* Then perhaps I have a quick answer before I kill you.
<Drohn> Look, why are you following around WPM anyway? What do you get out of this?
<WPM> WPM is... a father to me.
<Drohn> So that means you're Athena's sister? :OOOO
<SR> You're such a fool. *smirk* He's not my literal father, but he did save me when I was an orphan living on the streets. He raised me as his own and taught me everything while others would have been happy to watch me starve. I would never presume that he loves me, but he is everything I know of love. I would gladly die at his command.
<Drohn> Even though he's going to destroy the world and kill everyone in it? *mutter* and you say I'm] the fool...
<SR> But he is the world, and it is you that would destroy him. You are the only aggressor here. How Athena lives with the shame of attacking her own blood, I'll never understand.
<Drohn> She understands the same thing that I do, that one person's life doesn't mean anything compared to the fate of the world.
<SR> That's easy for you to say now. You were singing a different tune when it was your beloved sister Vesperia that was on the line... I don't expect you to see the world through my eyes, Prince. But I won't pretend to understand how things look through yours.
<Drohn> I guess that's all there is to it then. You're going down!
<SR> I like it when boys play rough...

Drohn rushed forward suddenly, dodging to the side of SR's magic and stabbing her through cleanly with a thrust of his sword and knocking her off of her mount.

<SR> Heheheh, such a lovely wound you've given me. You may think you've won this battle, but you're too late. My only job here was to delay you. The ritual has already begun! *flee*
<IE> Dammit, we have to go and stop him!
<Drohn> Then let's gooooo!

Light -> Dark Flyer, Falcon Knight
Athena -> Dark Flyer
Keeper -> Sorcerer
TT -> Swordmaster
Drac -> Warrior, Berserker
Cinesra -> Griffon Rider

Player Notes:

Oooooh, we're getting close now!

This was a very fast and straightforward chapter. The Deadlords are basically mini-bosses, but we're powerful enough that most of them still went down in a single round, so it was mostly just a matter of plowing through the sand to reach SR at the end.

I wanted to have Drohn take her down so that I could include their discussion. We don't actually get to learn much about SR throughout the game, and really this little discussion here is the most information we get about her in the main game. Though, it's funny, I didn't actually realize until I was looking up the script that there's a special conversation between her and Athena, too, and that one also kind of jokes at the fact that Excellus is a eunuch, which makes sense when you think about it, at least if you know more about him than his minimal representation in my playthrough.

The Deadlords are a really cool concept and I wish the game kind of went into them more. The Deadlords were actually originally in FE5 where it is heavily implied that they are dead versions of other characters that have already died and that they have been brought back from the dead. In fact, in this chapter, they even wield holy weapons from Jugdral, making it clear that it's a reference. Deadlords also appear in one of the DLC chapters (Infinite Regalia) and if you fight them with some of the children characters (and Tiki, I think) you get some text that implies that those Deadlords are actually different versions of Chrom and co. from an alternate storyline. Kind of cool stuff.

Then again, there's a whole lot of stuff in this game that I have elaborate head canon for because the game doesn't really go into stuff super great.

I've more or less come to terms with the fact that we're not going to be reclassing people or doing any more DLC levels or anything because such things would actually require people posting, but because I am a hopeless optimist, I am going to remind people that there's plenty of reclassing and DLC levels that we can play, if you believe in the magic of friendship (and posting).
