I never liked forge, just the campaign and the multiplayer of the other halo games

Mr. Random said:It's a really big change from Halo 3, but I think this will be loads better than ODST, which was little more than an expansion and some extra Halo 3 maps. I mean, there's so much more to do, the campaign looks new and fresh, the spartans and elites look kick-grass, and I already pre-ordered it. I also can't wait to start playing this competitively.
Grunt Master said:Yeah.ODST did seem a little empty to me compared to halo3.The best mode was firefight
VLucard said:ODST wasn't meant to be as big as Halo 3 though. It was orignally going to be a downloadable expansion, but with the addition of Firefight and their decision to release the second half of the Mythic pack on a disk (along with Halo 3's multiplayer mode) it warrented a full retail release.
Gale said:It did not "warrant" any full retail release. It was an overpriced DLC. They could have released whatever they planned for ODST as one DLC, then another DLC for Firefight, for twenty dollars each. It's absolutely insane that they thought it "warranted" a blockbuster release, and I feel like an absolute idiot for buying it. I traded it in after I beat the campaign and messed around in Firefight, which took me about 7 hours.
I am not buying Reach because there are other games I want this year. Still, the game looks okay.
VLucard said:That's fair enough, and I do understand where you are coming from and how you feel.
I thought it was well worth the money myself (I got it for £25 here in the UK), and as I am a completionist I had plenty to do with the game like finishing it on Legendary and completeing all of the Firefights to a specific score. And I also was an avid Halo 3 online player and when you have a smallish hard-drive the fact that every single multiplayer map is on the disk was a life saver.
Back to Reach though, I feel as though it is far more polished than Halo 3. As much as I liked Halo 3, I liked Halo 2 MUCH more (nostalgia probably) and felt as though they could have improved more on the formula then just adding equipment and a few graphical and gameplay tweaks. I really feel as though Reach has done this and I think it will be the best Halo game since 2.
Gale said:Okay well you instantly get my respect because you realize that Halo 2 is the best Halo game to date.
Gale said:Also, Forge World whoo... I guess. I don't see what's so amazing about it. Yeah, it's a level editor. Why does that suddenly mean Reach is like, game of the decade?
Mr. Random said:The community will love Forge World. Look at what they did in Halo 3, and imagine just what they could do now because of all the options, tools, and the sheer size of Forge World.
Maybe it's because of the inner Halo fanboy inside of me, but I sincerely think this game will be one of the greatest games of the decade.
I like the idea of Forge for messing around with, but I just wish there was a PROPER level editor in Halo. You'd think it wouldn't be too difficult with the power of consoles these days. Even if they added one as simple as the Timeplitters one I wouldn't mind, at least I would have more options.
