Halo:Reach

There are some game play videos of it up on waypoint right now. There is this one trailer for forge that is awesome

I never liked forge, just the campaign and the multiplayer of the other halo games

I have to say Reach is the game I am looking forward to most at the end of this year. I don't really game as much as I used to (after you hit about 85,000 gamerscore you kinda get burned out with the Xbox) but this looks like it will keep me occupied until at least the new year.

You should be able to use armor abilities and you can now Fight Elites again :D Something i've never been able to do XD

It's a really big change from Halo 3, but I think this will be loads better than ODST, which was little more than an expansion and some extra Halo 3 maps. I mean, there's so much more to do, the campaign looks new and fresh, the spartans and elites look kick-ass, and I already pre-ordered it. I also can't wait to start playing this competitively.

Well chances are I'll be buying the legendary edition of this, if I can save anough money from my job (I also want a 3DS and a Razor scooter plus uhmmcoughdrinksforpartyscough), mainly because of the huge amount of extras you get, the 6 figures, flaming helmet, book, bits n bobs.

I played the beta constantly, and it seems like such a great game. Bungie have said that for now, this is it, so no more Halo for a while after this!

Yeah.ODST did seem a little empty to me compared to halo3.The best mode was firefight

ODST wasn't meant to be as big as Halo 3 though. It was orignally going to be a downloadable expansion, but with the addition of Firefight and their decision to release the second half of the Mythic pack on a disk (along with Halo 3's multiplayer mode) it warrented a full retail release.

Now you do ^^
Also forgot to put that it's called "Halo 3: ODST", which also points to it being an expansion.

It did not "warrant" any full retail release. It was an overpriced DLC. They could have released whatever they planned for ODST as one DLC, then another DLC for Firefight, for twenty dollars each. It's absolutely insane that they thought it "warranted" a blockbuster release, and I feel like an absolute idiot for buying it. I traded it in after I beat the campaign and messed around in Firefight, which took me about 7 hours.

I am not buying Reach because there are other games I want this year. Still, the game looks okay.

That's fair enough, and I do understand where you are coming from and how you feel.

I thought it was well worth the money myself (I got it for £25 here in the UK), and as I am a completionist I had plenty to do with the game like finishing it on Legendary and completeing all of the Firefights to a specific score. And I also was an avid Halo 3 online player and when you have a smallish hard-drive the fact that every single multiplayer map is on the disk was a life saver.

Back to Reach though, I feel as though it is far more polished than Halo 3. As much as I liked Halo 3, I liked Halo 2 MUCH more (nostalgia probably) and felt as though they could have improved more on the formula then just adding equipment and a few graphical and gameplay tweaks. I really feel as though Reach has done this and I think it will be the best Halo game since 2.

Okay well you instantly get my respect because you realize that Halo 2 is the best Halo game to date. Also, I actually do understand your reasoning with the small hard-drive and everything. In fact, that's the best reason I've heard to buy ODST ever. I still think Bungie screwed up with the price and marketing, but yeah. :F

Also, Forge World whoo... I guess. I don't see what's so amazing about it. Yeah, it's a level editor. Why does that suddenly mean Reach is like, game of the decade?

Haha, thanks! At least I'm not the only one :D And I definately agree that Bungie screwed up with the marketing, but from a consumers standpoint. From a business standpoint, they obviously knew that labeling the game as a blockbuster game and adding "Halo 3" to the title would improve sales and rack in the cash (even moreso than just having it as a Halo title). But its also for reasons like this (and the criminal prices of DLC) that I have a growing dislike for Bungie and various other big name companies.

I like the idea of Forge for messing around with, but I just wish there was a PROPER level editor in Halo. You'd think it wouldn't be too difficult with the power of consoles these days. Even if they added one as simple as the Timeplitters one I wouldn't mind, at least I would have more options.
And I think because of the size and scale of Forge World and the fact its all one single map the community will eat it up. But I definately wouldn't give it a game of the decade.

Also just a note, the precision, snapping and phasing of objects on Forge is going to be a godsend!

First thing in Reach I'm doing is going to blood gulch.....mabey that is why every one is like OMG THIS GAME IS AWESOME!! but then again I could be wrong.I'm just exsited for forge the newer Firefight game style and the campaign where you are a spartan again!!!!Plus I might get better at fighting Elites in this Game than Halo:Ce

The community will love Forge World. Look at what they did in Halo 3, and imagine just what they could do now because of all the options, tools, and the sheer size of Forge World.

Maybe it's because of the inner Halo fanboy inside of me, but I sincerely think this game will be one of the greatest games of the decade.

Okay, it's people like you I don't understand. You're saying in the past ten years, this game could be considered one of the greatest games in that time period even though it's the same kind of game as Halo 3 except it has Forge World? I just... I just... I'm struggling to summon the correct words to describe my inability to comprehend whatever logic you might be trying to implement here.

Halo Reach will not win game of the year. It will not be one of the best games of the decade, and it will not be like the second coming of Christ. It's just another Halo remake with LittleBigPlanet stuffed into it. The phasing is cool, but behind all the smoke and mirrors, it's just another level editor that people will exhaust within a few months.

This. Timesplitters was pretty neat.
