this thread was inspired by another thread of mine, so i made this thread. this thread is really to discuss hip hop and rap songs, artists etc. Enjoy!!!!

Oh boy!
My favorite rappers are Wax, Herbal T, D-Pryde, Aesop Rock, Doseone and Li'l Wayne.
I've written three (very bad) raps, one about Chains breaking, one about Diglett (with 6-D), and one about sitting in my room listening to the Gorillaz "Demon Days" and playing my Promogon-Z against Vulpix Yolks's Palkia G lock.
The last one sounds silly but it might have been the best.
I don't consider myself a rapper, but If I did my rap name would be Vice Verse.
Or Sweaty Little Nerd Monster (SWNM for short)
Or, if it was gangster rap, Golly-G.

Rap is awesome!

My favorite rappers are Eminem, Li'l Wayne, Jay-Z, and TI.

My favorite song is Lose Yourself, by Eminem.

That's all I have to say. :O

I like J.Cole, B.o.B, Odd Future, Drake, and Kanye West.

My favorite songs are "Dreams", "When I'm Gone", "Yonkers", "Over", and some others.

I'm going to out on a limb and say that Lady GaGa is not a rapper or hip hop artist. A limb.

I know, but she does count as pop right? So that counts right? riiiigghht?
If not i could just erase it. (GOSH i need to shut up)

Don't fall.

@AnimeUSA: I can actually see what you were trying to say lol.
@Shadow_Scyther: I can someone is a huge Eminem fan

Rap is my favorite genre of music. My favorite rappers are Dumbfoundead, Wax, Lil Wayne, and Busta Rhymes. I also like some of Eminem's older stuff. I care about producers as much as the rapping, and my favorite producers are EOM and Tripmaster Monk.
The things I care most about in rappers are vocabulary, flow, and the ability to tell stories.
In producers, I love love love when soft music is sampled and turned into a hip-hop beat.
Like LORDY mentioned, we wrote a rap once. I try a lot to write rap. and produce music. I'm really bad at both of those things.

Ahh I love rap :D

My favorite rappers are Eminem, Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj (on her rap songs), Kanye West, and Pitbull. I was really impressed with Kanye's last album so I can't wait for Watch the Throne (a collab album with him and Jay-Z) to come out. Yep.

tbh, most mainstream rappers are pretty bad, the only rap about girls and money and drugs. Some of my favorite songs are, you know, "I'm the greatest, you suck," yadda yadda. Like "Six Foot, Seven Foot." But I only like songs like that when they're at least clever. Dudes like Drake, Waka Flocka Flame, Wiz Khalifa, and them, they're just terrible. They don't rhyme well and all their beats are the same.

I would have agreed with you, except the best albums in these past few years (Ignoring MBDTF and maybe Goblin) have been main stream albums.

Waka Flocka Flame is apparently one of the best Trap Music Rappers ever. I don't like him, I can barely even understand him, but if that was his aim then he arguably succeeded. I'll still agree with you on that, because he's still a rapper.

Drake released two of the biggest releases in years. So Far Gone and Thank Me Later. So Far Gone actually was a classic, and Thank Me Later fell short. For an album filled of radio singles he did an amazing job. The only albums that went for that commercial sound and did a better job of it were In My Mind by Pharrell and The Adventures of Bobby Ray by B.o.B

Wiz Khalifa is a horrible rapper who gained buzz off of a overrated single. Even still it can't be argued that he didn't release Top 5 albums of the year thus far. In my opinion he comes behind Big Sean's Finally Famous and Frank Ocean's Nostalgia/Ultra.

My opinions right now are really only taken with the state of the releases at the moment, but I still think they stand firm.

Can I discuss how little talent it takes to be a rap "musician" these days?

See, I used to be like you. I used to think all rappers were talentless dirtbags who got famous by saying a few lines about drugs over an annoying hook. But if you listen to real rappers, you will realize they are just as talented as other musicians, often moreso.
I don't like mainstream rappers that much, but you can bet I respect them more than mainstream pop artists.

Ditto, I though rap was the pits before I found people like Aesop Rock and Wax.
I actually respect good rappers a lot more than most musicians, because of the incredible skill and wit that goes in to their lyrics, it's like Shakespeare to me.

I'm sure there are some rappers out there who actually make good lyrics. Real musicians can do that in addition to singing and/or playing an instrument.

Wax, who we've mentioned before, plays two instruments, writes, raps, and sings. How many "real musicans" can claim that? And I know of at least one other rapper, Open Mike Eagle, who can do what Wax does. He's a great singer, he just prefers to rap. I just don't see how you can put "rappers" and "musicians" into different categories.
