Nyllamoth sounds a bit better. Makes me think of a big beautiful moth with wings that show a galaxy in them like Olympia's cape.

RE: Let's Do the 7th Generation! - SIGN-UPS OPEN

Lunight and Noiright?
Lunight and Noirark? (light / dark, not bad for contrast)

RE: Let's Do the 7th Generation! - SIGN-UPS OPEN

Noirark sounds like a cross between Dusknoir and Zoroark. How about Shadnoir or Cosnoir? (Shadow/cosmos + noir, or are we not doing the black one with all the stars in the wings?)

RE: Let's Do the 7th Generation! - SIGN-UPS OPEN

Yes, but the stars are just the stars. I'd prefer to not overshoot it woth galaxies, cosmoses and all that. And shadow doesn't really fit it.

RE: Let's Do the 7th Generation! - SIGN-UPS OPEN

Well now that I'm a member I guess I might as well my two cents in: for a name I would say something like Lunetoile or to be fancy Lunétoile (Luna + Étoile [french for star])

RE: Let's Do the 7th Generation! - SIGN-UPS OPEN

Mmm... I don't know... One's thing is the moon, and the other's the stars, the idea is that there are two things that give light at night, one takes after one and the other, the other.

We've got one with lunight.

Mmm... Luna is latin for moon. Stella is latin for star. Stellight?

Lunight and Stellight, evolving from Shellight? I like both, honestly. And I'm willing to overlook stella's feminity, considering that both names are so fitting.

After all, both are based in the night and in the light, but one has the moon as a source, and the other, the stars. Makes sense to give both sources the same treatment.

RE: Let's Do the 7th Generation! - SIGN-UPS OPEN

So I have this idea of making a Pokemon based of the Chupacabra. For right now what I imagine is that it is a four-legged feral feline-like creature with jagged elongated fangs that it uses to help drain the energy out of its prey.

RE: Let's Do the 7th Generation! - SIGN-UPS OPEN

Note: this is the template to present your pokemon. The little details as ev yield, base friendship are not really necessary at this stage, but it's better to have them now.

RE: Let's Do the 7th Generation! - SIGN-UPS OPEN

Why a feline? The chupacabra has most commonly been depicted as a hairless dog with long sharp spikes sticking out from it's vertebrae. But, I do like the vampiric thing. Maybe it could be Dark/Poison or something? Maybe even Dark/Fairy since it's like a legend and stuff.

Well by feline I thought of it having a more slender body fit for hunting at night and it having a tiger-esque head (but the head thing is mainly my strange obsession with cats)
Here's the template thingy:

Name: Noirvage (Noir + Savage)
Species: Hunting Pokémon
Type: Dark
Abilities: Strong Jaw - Tough Claws (HA)

Gender Ratio: 50% Female, 50% Male
Catch Rate: X
Egg Groups: Field - Monster
Steps to Hatch: X

[I'll convert these in a little bit]

Pokédex color: Gray

Pokedex entries:

"Noirvage is rarely ever seen by people, as it lurks the woods only at night. It uses the thin spines on its back to detect the movements of its surroundings while it hunts for prey in minimal light."

"It's elongated fangs are used to tightly clamp on its prey to drain the victim's blood. It is advised to be very wary of the feral nature of this Pokemon, as there have been cases of Noirvage turning against its own trainer."

The rest will be determined once the idea is more fleshed out. Tomorrow I'll add more once I get time to sketch and solidify my vision. If you guys want to help me, feel free to do so :D

This is what I'm going for, so let's drop it with the Sableye (it's more of a gremlin anyways)

RE: Let's Do the 7th Generation! - SIGN-UPS OPEN

If it's the body, then why not just say a slender body? Dogs can be slender too. Also, an angry cat doesn't seem as frightening as an angry dog, but... Wait... What was my point?

RE: Let's Do the 7th Generation! - SIGN-UPS OPEN

Xerneas, right now, you're pitching the idea, selling it to us, that template is for when you have at least the drawing and some moves, (or in reggie's case and similar, which I will be very vigilant of, all he has, plus some thoughts for the future design), in addition to your design process.
Right now, all you have is a word: chupacabra. Get more than that. As I said, Sableye is the most close pokemon I see to your idea, conceptually, and it's not vey interesting. The vampiric thing chocolate mentioned seems interesting, pursue that, maybe. Come up with more stuff, most of us had a bunch of ideas, but only a few are being made right now.

Well what I can do is have it have like a wolf's head while having the slender body. I have seen some photos of it being depicted with very short fur so I might use that as well. Maybe have the spines be like sensors for it since it's nocturnal. I also kinda want to make like a Chupacabra/Leopard hybrid to fit the night hunter idea.

RE: Let's Do the 7th Generation! - SIGN-UPS OPEN

Listen to yourselves, you two!

You are discussing a franknstein. not a chupacabra. just adding random parts based on what you like. Focus. Look for a concept, look for something with potential, and I don't mean tiers, moves or a cool name.
Read through the thread, see what the other people did, read the interviews I posted on the OP.

Look for something that deserves to be a pokemon, that goes deeper than "I like cats". Fletchling had this same problem, but he went deeper, now he's making a ground type serval (which I hope has something to justify the type choice). But he went deeper than that.

Or look at moose. He had an idea for an ability; we nixed his original concept for the pokemon, but his ability had a lot of potential, so we took it from there and now he's working on something very good. Do that.

RE: Let's Do the 7th Generation! - SIGN-UPS OPEN

My original intent was to create a white tiger sort of Pokemon as there aren't many tiger Pokemon (or any at all), but after stress induced craze I thought of constructing a Chupacabra of the quadruped variety. As I am trying to draw this thing I want to incorporate the big cat idea, but that obviously isn't working out, but my main idea of the night hunter Chupacabra is what I'm really going for. IMO, to have this stalker of the night I thought giving it a slender body instead of the big bulky shape, like it's usually portrayed, would fit better. Plus Chupacabras ARE vampiric which is why I didn't really put it much out there as it is kinda common sense for it. Like I said before, I'll get pictures soon as I don't have image sharing anything, so it'll come when it does (possibly tomorrow). Oh and for the body shape and footprint, I have no idea how to add that...

This is the basis of my inspiration

HOW DO YOU KEEP READING MY MIND KEEPER!!!!

I might as well barf out my idea right now:
- so it's a 3-stage line
- cub, tiger, saber tooth tiger (very floofy because of its ice typing)
- I'll make the outline for the final form and move backwards

The white tiger is interesting and simple. The chupacabra is very nebulous and complicated for this stage of the project.

Make it a 2-stage line, a fluffy cub and a big-ass, muscled sabretooth tiger like this:

and we have a deal. That method sounds good.
Forget the chupacabra, at least for now.

If you want to collaborate with keeper in it, and he's interested, go for it.
