Mafia Discussion Thread

What kind of waiting list is there with the hosts? I might host something in the future, but I prioritize another forum.

If memory serves, the list of people who asked me about hosting a game is kinda lengthy. That said, I have not decided who--out of anyone who asked--I feel comfortable with letting host a game.

So here's some loose guidelines to consider if you want to host a ww game:

1. Have you ever participated in a Werewolf game on Pokebeach? (For the purposes of this question, Murder does not count. Mushroom Mayhem or w/e it was does.) If so, name all games in which you participated (hunt them down; they're all linked in the Mafia Memories subforum). If you hosted a game, be sure to make a note of that.
2. Have you ever played or hosted in any non-Pokebeach mafia game? If so, tell me about your experiences.
3. How old are you?
4. Generally speaking, what's your free time like?
5. Are you looking to host a main game or a spinoff? (If you are looking to host a spinoff, you will need to PM me your plan for the game.)

Disclaimer: Being able to answer all of these in the affirmative doesn't guarantee you a spot. In the end the final decision rests with me and right now the only person who is guaranteed a spot is Dark Void. js.

So, everyone who approached me about hosting -any- kind of game: if you could PM me the answers to these questions that'd be swell. Sorry I've not been more on the ball about this.

Actually, I'm going to host a game. A spinoff. (Because it's a bit smaller.)

If Dark Void was guaranteed a spot, then why did Blui get to host a game before him? Or is DV hosting a larger game?

DV's hosting a larger game. I think he has dibs on Werewolf XV.

Do you guys think the spinoff games should go into Mafia Memories?

Mafia is for the cool people though... What kind of name is this?

Also lurking is no longer acceptable as any faction. I will now personally be pushing your lynch. It has become way too popular lately. K thx!

Well, as I said, as a host I have a strict activity rule. Post once per Day or be replaced. Days here are seven days long, and unless you plan on being away (and so far out of three games that I have hosted, only one person has ever come to me saying they were going to be away), I see no reason why you can't get to a computer and contribute. Or, if not, then just friggin tell me, jesus christ. If you need to be subbed out then just ask instead of making the entire game suffer. There are plenty of subs to go around. In fact, I think that the game that just finished was the first main series game that we didn't employ every sub who signed up. Holy crap that is incredible.

I'm actually considering making it more for my game... It kind of ruins the game. Lurking not only is not an effective strategy but it also makes the game less fun. The latest game went fast so yeah...

Also hydras might allow for more activity. Shame it is against pokebeach policy.

Also a multiball would be fun sometime.

After looking up exactly what a hydra is (an account controlled by multiple players, btw everyone, you're welcome), I'm not sure how they would boost activity.

Werewolf XI was a multiball game, if I've got the definition correct. Before my computer died I was designing a spinoff game which basically has five teams pitted against each other. I still have the data but it'll be a while before it's ready.

No... I'm talking about 4 factions each with 6 players multiball.

How does that work? Is it like town vs scum vs scum vs scum or what? Because I had trouble figuring out how to determine how lynches would work.

There were 2 games of it on 6P... You can look for it or I'll post it in the morning.

Multifaction games are pretty fun to play in. One game I really enjoy playing which is a variation of mafia/werewolf is cop5.

The premise of cop5.

There are 5 players.
1 Sane cop: Inspection results are always true.
1 Insane cop: Inspection results are always false.
1 Naive cop: Inspection results always turn up as townie.
1 Paranoid cop: Inspection results always turn up as wolf
1 Wolf: Kills each night.

The game begins, and the wolf has to lie about his inspection result each day while killing each night. The inpsectors have to work out who's village via the inspection results. It's a game where the village need to think carefully while the wolf needs to know who he wants to kill and what he wants to claim carefully. (Roles aren't revealed upon death). It's best played on IRC.

I don't think so either, but if it's 5 players I see no reason why we can't give it a try. Does it start with night zero?
