Any objection to me moving the Username Changes to the About Me tab instead of where it is at currently?

...okay, so I'm not the only one who can see it.

I Don't see the point of it. Why would other people care how many times you've changed your username?

It's more or less for tracking. It will be much easier than having to update a thread.

One reason I can think of is if other people stumble across a username they don't recognize, they can check the name change log to see if they were known under some other name that they remember. (I know I've had to trust my memory on stuff like that a lot.)

I'd prefer it be in a less conspicuous place, however, if it were to remain visible to everyone.

It could be an About Me section, and people would update it instead if their sigs when they get a nme change.

What's the reason behind this? It sounds like you'd rather people forget about your username change as soon as possible.

I'm just pointing out that where it's placed right now is not aesthetically appealing.

If that is ok I'd make it so anyone can switch back -__- seems like favorites.
It...yeah, it probably is, isn't it.
An addendum could be added that you could switch back to your old username, but you'd have to wait X months before doing so (a number between 3 and 6 is probably ideal).

I would second this. Ive been thinking about changing my username for a few days but was waiting until december so i could change back if wanted. I would however suggest instead that you have more of a trial instead of a wait time. Like once your change you have a 15-30 day period to change back if you wish. However if you change and change back your done with changing for that year[obviously]. Just my 2 cents thanks!

You guys should think through a username change thoroughly before going through with it. When I last changed my username, I probably debated on it for more than a month. :p

I might let up on the rule some, we'll see.

The last time I changed my username was... Wait, I have never changed it. I am little over 3 weeks away from using it for 11 years.

I agree that there's a definite bias if staff are getting extra name changes. It isn't really important, but the impression it gives off is. If staff is going to get that benefit, it should be made clear in the name change thread. Otherwise it comes off as blatant favoritism to certain members, not to staff in general. The latter is acceptable because the staff does a lot for the site for free, but the former is not.

Yeah, I know, I agree with that bit. I'm definitely not saying you should change back like right away if it turns out you don't like it. I think 3-6 months would be an okay period of time to wait before you're allowed to change back. Speaking personally, I liked my new username for 4 months before it started getting cumbersome, and I thought about a name change for several weeks before asking for one.

Edit: Okay, why are there "Like" buttons now? >_<
