well the CMC were always meant to be the PPG. Even down to the leader having a red Hairbow
Episode 20 sounds so funny, and so much potential for references.

Back to the future and Doctor who are obvious ones to look out for, but I'm hoping for some sort of heroes type message of "save the cheerleader, save the world". Chrono trigger, Quantum Leap, HG wells: there is so much potential for this episode and Twilight freaking again will be adorable to watch. This is looking to be the best episode of the show yet.
regarding hearts and hooves
Ignoring the situation about the leak, this was a brilliant festive episode and showed a change of pace as the CMC did not try to get their marks, just help their teacher.
the book they borrow has a picture of an alicorn in it, possibly foreshadowing candace in a few weeks time.
Just after sweetie belle sings the line about making cheirelee's heart soar, look on the bridge in the bottom left corner for what appears to be Derpy and the Doctor.
Video Games are now canon. Love makes everypony have super strength, the CMC interrupt a funeral just to tell a guy he's old.
and next week we have a pinkie episode, where she tries to befriend a donkey.

I don't understand how they were meant to be the PPG. I mean.... the only thing similar I can find is the hairbow. Their personalities barely resemble the PPG at all.... Aside from the newest episode and the hairbow I just don't get it.... :/

Well, Lauren Faust created both MLP:FiM and PPG, so it's only natural people would draw connections between the CMC and the PPG.

It was actually her husband that made the PPG. And the connection is primarily between their personalities and their hairstyles. Like Scootaloo = Buttercup because they are both tomboyish and neither have girly hairstyles.

There...I just watched both Read it and Weep and Hearts and Hooves day...and both were awesome :3. For once I can say I loved RD in an episode :3.Indiana Hooves Daring Doo should have more episodes...just like...a spin off series of just Daring Doo O_O.
Hearts and Hooves day has to be one of my favorites now...CMC I mean...Sweetie Belle was hilarious.

Frankly, I thought this lastest episode was sort of weak. I have some serious grievances about shows that have one character trying to make friends with another one who honestly just wants to be left alone, even if in the end Pinkie Pie did get Cranky back together with the lady he'd met years ago at the Grand Galloping Gala.
Anywho, this season so far has been kind of subpar in comparison to season one. Except for a few select episodes (like Secret to My Excess, the Cutie Pox one, the one where Rarity got rapped up in Canterlot's high-society, and the one where Applejack stayed away from Ponyville so she could earn money she otherwise didn't after losing at a rodeo), the episodes have been pretty bland and nowhere near as exciting as season one's were. Perhaps there'll be some sort of change in the near future, since MLP's still fun to watch, but I've otherwise been feeling a bit deterred from it lately.

I didn't like the episode either because it just became Pinkie so obsessed over one, ONE creature who denied her friendship. ONE CREATURE.
Of course, they had to make them friends because what kind of moral is good for kids about how not everyone's going to be your friend?
The song was the only thing that was good about the episode.

I think this episode could've been a lot better. But it did have some fun points, primarily the song and the part(s) where Pinkie was poking through Cranky's stuff.
Admittedly, I'm not a fan of Pinkie Pie. I like her, but she seems more annoying than anything else. In order, I'd put my favorite characters in this order: 1. Fluttershy, 2. Rarity/Twilight Sparkle, 3. Applejack/Rainbow Dash, 4. Big Macintosh/Spike, 5. Applebloom/Scootaloo (sp?), 6. Granny Smith, 7. Princess Luna/Night Mare Moon, 8. Princess Celestia, 9. Discord, 10. Zecora. Regretably, I'm not familiar with all the characters, but Pinkie Pie doesn't even make my top fifteen ranking...
