RE: PokéBeach Technological Help Thread

Hey sorry this has probably been asked a lot but I need internet help :(
I got my 3DS for Christmas and Pokemon White

The internet is set up fine on my 3DS and I tried to set up the Nintendo DS Connection Settings as well because I got told I needed to do both.

So basically I tried the "Search for an Access Point" option and got the error, "The access point's security settings are not supported by the Nintendo DS"

SO I tried the manual and didn't get as much luck..

Well basically it keeps giving me an "Error Code 51300" - Unable to connect to an access point. Confirm Nintendo WFC connection settings and access point settings."

I entered in the Network Name and Wireless Key but it still doesn't work?
Can somebody please help me? I'd like to get some event pokemon (Victini :3)

RE: PokéBeach Technological Help Thread

I am having the exact same problem but everything is fine. Make sure your DNS numbers match the one for the router. The funny thing is that Wi-Fi works fine on 4th gen but not B/W and I don't know why. It was a struggle just getting my HG team cloned and transferred. Anyone know when this will be fixed?:)

EDIT: Actually is anyone able to get on at all? Even in 4th gen it is not working XD.:) My error code is 52000 and not 52100 XD.:)

EDIT2: I just erased my settings re-added exactly as is and still does not work. Anyone know what is going on? Can anyone connect at all?:)

EDIT3 Why can't I connect to Wi-Fi?

I am wondering because when I try to connect I get this error. Unable to obtain an IP address. Move within range or check your DHCP settings or visit www.nintendosupport.com. Error code: 52000

I have tried to reset my connection manually on the DS and everything is the same as it was. The DNS matches the router. I also did a search for connections and put in my WEP key and still nothing works. It was working fine until Monday night After that it was a struggle to con nect and now I can't even connect at all.

I checked with a few of my friends and they can connect but for some reason I can't even get on. If anyone can help it will be greatly appreciated. Thanks XD.:)

RE: PokéBeach Technological Help Thread

Unfortunately I don't have any tips for getting Wi-Fi to work, so I can't really help with the above questions. D:

I do have a question of my own, though. I've done some searching using Google and I can't find anyone else with this issue.

I'm on Windows 7 and I'm wondering how to view Previewed images in the order the files are sorted in the folder (they're sorted by date modified) instead of always viewing them in alphabetical order. To explain in detail:

I open a folder full of images. The images are sorted by date modified (with the oldest files first and newest last). I right-click an image and in the list of options that appear, I click "Preview." The image preview window loads. I click the right arrow to go to the next image in the folder. Instead of getting the image that should be to the right of it based on how the images are sorted (by date modified), I get the image that would be to the right of it if the folder was sorted alphabetically.

I'm used to using my old Windows XP where it views the next listed file based on how you've got them sorted instead of defaulting to viewing previews alphabetically. Is there a place I can change this? I've done a little searching myself but obviously with no result.

RE: PokéBeach Technological Help Thread

Strange. I can't replicate your problem at all. What program does the Preview button open?

RE: PokéBeach Technological Help Thread

When I tried it out, I was getting the same problem. I tried to find a solution in the Properties tab, but there was no luck. The pictures do preview in alphabetical order, but can't find how to change it.

Try looking around the properties tab or the folder and search options.

RE: PokéBeach Technological Help Thread

To sort by name, select the Name column. If you are sorting by Date modified, you see a small triangle in that column header above column name pointing in the direction of the sort.

RE: PokéBeach Technological Help Thread

^ Yeah, I think I know what your problem is. Unfortunately, there is no solution except the change the security settings on your internet. The original DS software only works with certain types of security, so you won't be able to set up your internet unless it has a compatible security. As far as I know, the only compatible security is WEP. This would also explain why the manual didn't work either, because the DS will refuse to find a network that doesn't have WEP security.

Ah I think I found it. The program using to view the files should be Windows Photo Viewer. Windows Live Photo Gallery always go by alphabetical order.

Thanks, I'll try that out and edit this post later with the results. :)

Edit: Tried it and even Windows Photo Viewer views them alphabetically. Couldn't find anything under any other settings in the Control Panel to change it, either.

I'd ask the people on Microsoft's help site but I don't really feel like making an account. :/

Whenever I log onto Skype, once I try to type something this message pops up.

How can I fix this? I downloaded Skype again already.

RE: PokéBeach Technological Help Thread

How do I remove a poll on my PB thread? :) I'm not completely sure if this is the tread to post, but I've looked through the forum and this is the closest I can think of.. ;/

RE: PokéBeach Technological Help Thread

You'll have to ask a mod to remove it.

(This could go in the simple forum questions thread)

RE: PokéBeach Technological Help Thread

@Mina: Well, this question should have been asked in the "Have a simple forum or website-related question? Ask here!" thread. But, to answer your question, you cannot remove the poll. Moderators are the only ones that can remove polls.

Edit: Ninja'd

The problem could be a number of things. Reinstall it first.

I used to have the same issue, and reinstalling never worked. I used to run registry cleaners, and advanced uninstallations, which are what probably caused it. It never fixed itself until I reinstalled Windows.

RE: PokéBeach Technological Help Thread

About the Wi-Fi thing. I think perhaps the reason it mighhave stoped working is because the the Nintendo WFC server thing might be down. I keep having this problem as well(with both 4th and 5th gen games). When I tried to go to the GTS on my White, it said "could not connect to Nintendo WFC." Usually, when the DS/3DS don't communicate with the wireless router, it says "no access point in range." For me, it stays green for a little while, and then immediately goes red on the communication strength. This probably means that yes, it got to the Wi-Fi source you have, but it couldn't get to Nintendo WFC. I tried the internet browser on my 3DS, but the same thing happened(I'm pretty sure that's Nintendo WFC as well).

EDIT : Nevermind about my Wi-Fi being a jerk. I only know it returned because I just edited this with my 3DS.

RE: PokéBeach Technological Help Thread

I don't know if this is the right place for this, but I am having an issue with my 3DS. My friend and I were with another person yesterday but the other person was a distance away when we StreetPassed. My friend StreetPassed her but I did not. We were both practically the same distance from her. I didn't get the streetpass until I move significantly closer. I had dropped my 3DS the other day and I'm hoping this didn't damage my wireless... If it matters, I have the red 3DS. I also did a test on campus today in my Poli Sci class. I normally always get at least two passes during this class but today I have received none. Now of course, the other people may have not brought their 3DS today :/ So IDK. Also, I had to get really close to my brother's 3DS to pass him. Am I kinda screwed or is there something that I can do?

Not sure. If it's having problems of those magnitudes, you'll probably need to get it repaired.

What brand of Laptop should I get?

Depends. Out of the major brands off the top of my head, you have five major categories:

Apple - If you're willing to spend more money for hardware that might pack the same punch as less costlier options. One of your only options if you need Mac OS X on a laptop. Has that distinct design aesthetic the fanboys will rave on about for hours.

Alienware - Other stuff can get enough power in good cases, but Alienware laptops are specifically designed for gaming with "pretty" graphics.

Acer and Samsung specific Chromebooks - Not extremely powerful, but enough. Cost can seem marginally high, but not by much. Works well with the web. No Java support in Chrome OS currently. Cellular data support, which comes in handy.

Dell, HP, Acer, Vaio, etc. - A good general category for everybody. If all branding was stripped away, it'd be hard to tell them apart. I personally have an HP, but it happened to be on sale at the time.

System76 and others - Someone a bit smaller. Fairly good laptops with Ubuntu pre-installed. Guaranteed to have 100% compatibility with the hardware.
