Done, heres chapter 5! Please read and comment!
Chapter 5
“Now” Said Mr. Bing “These are your Pokémon. We have not fully worked out if we will let you keep them after the experiment but chances are if you train them well you will. This is a special belt used to hold the pokeballs, when they are not in your hand of course.” Mr. Bing handed the 3 of them a belt that fitted them perfectly with 5 empty pokeballs already attached. “And you will need this as well. We have a long technical name for it but you know it as a Pokedex. If you point it at a Pokémon it will give you up to date information about it. Also it has a special feature you probably don’t know about.” Mr. Bing took the Pokedex and slid out a tray which had a small ring in the middle of it with many lights buzzing around the ring. “If you would be kind enough kids to return your Pokémon” The 3 pointed the pokeballs at their Pokémon and yelled “Return” and the beam of light shot out of the ball and on to the Pokémon which returned them to the balls. “Could you please minimize the balls as well” The 3 pressed the tiny little button and all of a sudden it shrunk just like they knew it would. “Matt, could you please give me Piplup for a second, don’t worry I’ll give it right back.” Mr. Bing said as Matt handed Piplup too him. “When you place a Pokémon on this tray it will give you that specific Pokémon’s moves, gender, etcetera.
“Awesome, so what moves does Piplup know?” replied Matt
“It’s still analyzing, it will take a few seconds…ahh done, let’s see what we have. Well Piplup is a male. He knows bubble beam, pound, and bide. Wow, that’s actually a pretty advanced move set. You got lucky here Matt. Here let me give you your Piplup back.”
Mr. Bing continued with Max and Ellen to find out that Treecko knows bullet seed, absorb and leer. Max was pretty happy about that. Ellen also found that Cyndaquil knew Ember, Tackle and smokescreen. She would be happy no matter what Cyndaquil knew. The 3 grabbed their Pokémon and sat down as Mr. Bing called other names and gave out there Pokémon. There were Mudkip, Charmander, Turtwig; every starter out there was being given. Of course Matt, Max, and Ellen were already playing Tetris on their pokedexs to listen to any names.
“Now that you all have your Pokémon there are 2 things that I probably should tell you. First, at the end of your journey, the time still being undecided, you are all going participate in a Pokémon league. Yes, you will all battle each other and the winner will of course be declared the first Pokémon league champion. Now that was the good news, and when there is good news there is always bad news. Want to hear it? Well to bad I’m telling you anyway. To test how well you work with your Pokémon you’re not getting out of here the way you got in. You see this building is completely surrounded by mountains. Small mountains but none the less one huge circle of mountain, you will have to climb them to get out.”
Max turned and leaned over to Matt “O come on, you have got to be kidding me! That will take forever!”
“I heard that Max, your pretty loud for being so young” Said Mr. Bing “since it is only around 10 A.M you shouldn’t have to stop and camp. From there I’m not going to tell you where to go. However you will be notified when the Championship is. Catch as many Pokémon you want but you probably won’t be given any more pokeballs then you have now. With that I say go! Start climbing this mountain! This meeting is adjourned!”
Everybody walked out of the boardroom and tried to climb different parts of the mountain. Matt was making Max and Ellen follow him. Apparently there was some sort of plan in his head.
“Matt, seriously where are we going, there are better spots over there.” Said Ellen getting very tired from not knowing a thing!
“Just trust me were going to get there faster than anyone else! I saw this place when we were coming in since it was so flat I thought we could get up it easier if we…”
“Wait, stop, your taking us to a flat part of the mountain. We can’t climb flat things Matt” Said Max who was complaining as usual.
“Would you just trust me for once! Aha, were here,” said Matt as they walked up to part of the mountain that basically looked like a huge wall.
“Follow my mark with this. Come on out Piplup!” said Matt as he sent out his new friend. “Piplup use bubble beam on the mountain!” The first attack Matt had ever called and he felt great. Piplup shot out tons of bubbles at a furious speed. The attack hit directly were Matt wanted it to. There was smoke everywhere but was soon cleared by an ember and bullet seed from Cyndaquil and Treecko.
When everything had cleared the attacks had formed a rocky staircase up the mountain. The 3 trainers and their Pokémon hiked up the mountain.
“Jeez how high is this mountain,” exclaimed Ellen who seemed to be straggling behind everyone.
“Max quit whin…” said Matt “Wait, who just said that”
“The one in the back who claims there’s a fire burning inside her” Max replied sarcastically.
“Hey both of you just shut up! We are near the top right?” said Ellen who was half mad and half exhausted.
“Ya were pretty close” Replied Matt as he looked down at everyone, Piplup, Cyndaquil and Treecko were walking next to the trainers and Matt could tell everyone was pretty tired. “Hey, I can see the top! Come on guys let’s go!” Matt and Piplup started running towards the top but Max and Ellen, along with their Pokémon were going nowhere fast.
“Well, well, well, look what the idiot train dragged in.” said a voice from right next to Matt. Matt didn’t even have to look he knew that voice from anywhere. The question was what was he doing here.
“James” Matt said in a somewhat angry voice. “What on earth are you doing here” James was basically a rival of Matt’s back in St. Louis. You see James was not exactly a bully but none the less made fun of Matt quite a bit. Just for your average stuff, being short, having small feet just about anything you could think of.
“Well the people who put this whole field trip together wanted to see how a tough approach would affect the Pokémon, so they called the toughest kid around! I assume they only called you because they wanted to see a wimpy approach! Haha, I see they pared the wimpiest trainer with the wimpiest Pokémon!” said James who, as always, loved mocking Matt.
“PIPLUP IS NOT WIMPY, AND NEITHER AM I” Matt yelled angrily, he seemed to despise James more than ever now. Max and Ellen just walked up to where Matt and James were but they had heard everything.
“I’ve never seen this side of Matt” Ellen whispered to Max.
“Neither have I, it’s kind of like some soap opera. Whatever happens will be entertaining” Max whispered back as Ellen shot him a bad look.
“O really, you don’t think that you and that penguin thing aren’t the wimpiest, puniest, and scrawniest things to ever walk on this earth! Then prove it!” Said James trying to temp Matt into losing.
“You, me, battle now!” Screamed Matt who seemed to be furious more than ever. Piplup saw how Matt reacted yet was not at all afraid. He knew that Matt was defending his honor, and Piplup respected that.
“Well this is going to be very easy. Go Turtwig!” James threw his ball up in the air and a Turtwig shot out that seemed to be bigger than the average Turtwig.
“You guys can’t battle here; it’s the top of mountain!” Said Ellen who was nervous for Matt.
“So what, it will give them some obstacles” said Max in defense. But you could tell he wanted to see a battle.
“Alright a battle it is, I’ll let you take the first move Mr. Wimpy” exclaimed James
“You’ll regret that, Piplup Bubble Beam!” ordered Matt
“Turtwig dodge it and use Razor leaf!” replied James
“Quick Piplup drop to the ground!” Piplup fell straight down and the razor leafs whizzed right over his head. “Now use pound!” Piplup rushed over and nailed Turtwig with a direct hit!
“Ha, cheap shot, that doesn’t hurt us. Now let’s get real! Turtwig, throw that thing off the mountain!” Turtwig charged Piplup, he then jumped and was about to tackle Piplup right off the edge where there was a considerable drop. Matt stood stunned; something took him over at that instant. “Piplup use Bubble beam straight at Turtwig, then jump in the air and dive down with peck!” Peck, what am I thinking?! The pokedex said Piplup doesn’t even know peck Matt thought frantically as he watched what was about to happen. Piplup saw Turtwig and shot a bubble beam straight at him which didn’t directly hit. Although it did send Turtwig crashing into the ground. Piplup then shot up gallantly and dove back down with a peck. Matt then realized Pokedexs can’t tell you what lies in a Pokémon’s heart. The peck dropped down and Turtwig was down for the count.
“What!? What just happened!? Turtwig get up now!” Yelled James at Turtwig! Turtwig was not moving, everyone could tell Matt had won James just didn’t accept it.
“What are you doing call back your Turtwig!” Ellen said, she couldn’t stand to see a hurt Pokémon.
“Ha, Turtwig get back here” James grabbed his Pokeball and then whispered something to his Pokémon. “How dare you let me lose?” James then turned his attention to Matt. “Well looks like someone’s fond of battling like a girl and using cheap shots. Let me know when you want to fight less like a 3 year old school girl and more like me! See ya later losers!” James continued to walk away on the semi flat part of the mountain. Matt wasn’t furious anymore. He just looked down at Piplup who looked back up at him!
“Piplup, you were…AMAZING!!” Matt said as he bent down were Piplup ran straight into his arms.
“Matt you were amazing as well! That was great how you called those moves, how you knew Turtwig’s every move he was about to make!” Said Max who stood bewildered.
“I don’t like that James kid!!” said Ellen
“Hey you and me both” replied Matt
“I mean look how he treats his Pokémon! How do you even know him” Ellen was disgusted.
As they hiked down the mountain Matt explained everything. How James went to his school and how James always pointed out and exaggerated every little flaw Matt ever had. James was an all around jerk. It seems he doesn’t treat his Pokémon much better then he treats Matt. Matt of course wasn’t surprised of this.
Matt, Ellen and Max kept walking and eventually found a place to stop for lunch. They talked and ate, fed their Pokémon and kept moving. They couldn’t wait to conquer this mountain and get on to where wild Pokémon roam. And they did it they got down the mountain.
“So now were finally done with one of Mr. Bing’s surprises where are we off to?” asked Max sarcastically.
“There should be a lake somewhere around here,” Matt said as he reached for a map in his backpack “Oh, it’s just up here, less than a mile or so.”
“A mile! Ugh can’t we just camp here!” complained Max
“We just had lunch! Can you honestly be that tired?” Replied Ellen.
“Ok how about this, we walk to the lake and set up camp there, and I’m going to do some playing in the water! What do ya say Piplup you want to go swimming?” Matt said looking over at Piplup.
“Pipppluuup” exclaimed Piplup in agreement!
“Alright let’s go!” Said Matt.
The 3 started off into the forest heading toward the lake. They didn’t see too many wild Pokémon. An Oddish here or a Tailow there nothing they were to compelled to catch. However Piplup, Treecko, and Cyndaquil seemed to be getting along fine since they were constantly playing as their trainers walked. They would jump around through bushes and chase each other around trees.
“Were here!” Matt yelled as the lake cam into site from behind a few trees. Matt and Piplup started running to the lake. They were running straight for the lake when all of a sudden a thunder shock shot out of a nearby bush and hit the ground right in front of Piplup.
“Ahh, whoa, what was that” Said Matt completely surprised. Max, Ellen and their Pokémon got up to where Matt was right when a small yellow creature jumped out of the bush.
“Whoa, that’s a Pichu!” yelled Max in amazement.
“Ya and I’m going to catch it! Piplup use Bubble beam!” ordered Matt as Piplup shot an immense flow of bubbles straight at Pichu. Pichu stood frozen when all of a sudden a Ponyta jumped out of straight out from behind a bigger bush and took the bubble beam for Pichu.
“Now a Ponyta, this just keeps getting better and better!” Said Max as he watched everything that was going on.
“Want it to get better? Well I’m catching that Ponyta!” exclaimed Ellen “Cyndaquil use ember on Ponyta!”
“Piplup use peck on Pichu” said Matt enthusiastically.
The Ember was matched by another ember from Ponyta causing smoke right when Piplup landed his peck. There was black smoke everywhere now and no one could see a thing. At least until a beam of electricity broke it up. Matt knew Pichu fired off a thunderbolt and it hit Piplup. Cyndaquil and Ponyta seemed to be at a standstill.
“Piplup are you ok?” asked Matt to his Pokémon. Piplup got up, looked at Matt and nodded. “Good then use bubble beam one more time!”
“Cyndaquil use ember!” Ellen yelled hoping Ponyta wouldn’t block.
Both attacks were hit directly. Since Ponyta was weekend by Piplup’s Bubble beam, the ember made Ponyta fall straight to the ground. Pichu fell down to. The peck must have hit pretty well for it to be out this early.
“Cyndaquil, finish this off with a tackle!” said Ellen who got a little too caught up in the moment.
“Ellen what are you doing, Ponyta’s down don’t attack anymore!” Exclaimed Matt who didn’t want anyone to get hurt. But it was too late to stop Cyndaquil was already charging. All of a sudden Pichu jumped in front of Ponyta and took the attack. Just like Ponyta did for him. Pichu followed it up by shooting out a discharge that hit Piplup, Cyndaquil and actually hurt Pichu himself. Ponyta and Pichu then stood up, ready to keep fighting.
“Piplup use pound!”
“Cyndaquil use tackle!”
The attacks hit and through Ponyta and Pichu off their feat. Matt and Ellen looked at each other and then yelled “Go Pokeball!” A beam of light shot out of the pokeballs and onto Ponyta and Pichu. They were sucked up inside them. The balls landed on the ground. They wiggled once, wiggled twice, wiggled for a third time and then simultaneously made a chime sound. The Pokémon had been caught and Matt and Ellen had two new Pokémon to raise and cherish!
