I'm not saying people have to be great at everything, I'm saying they should be competent/experienced enough that they either can find out how themselves or already have at least tried a given art form and know the basics and can take off from there.

Well, I like most of the entries this round, but I expect they would've done better if they had gotten feedback. Hopefully, in future challenges, that will change.

I have to kinda agree with dmaster on what he said. Especially when exploring a new area of art like this challange is forcing artists to venture into, this is the time where feedback is more valuable than it was in any other challange. Remember me, after all. I couldn't have made the amazing works I did without getting that feedback, and I think that many artists in this round would've given ANYTHING to have recieved a little feedback about the area that their exploring and their current progress in this learning-demanding challange.

Those are my two cents.

Especially this Round, feedback was crucial for these artists venturing into new land.

Well, I really wanted to highten the challenge....people cant rely on feedback all the time and I think its a good way to kinda see what they can do on their own.....and I think I made up for that with the time extension. Feedback will play a crutial role in these last few challenges.

No offense, but if you want to highten competitiveness, then don't give feedback on the first few challanges since those are usually the easiest and the most straight-forward. A challange such as this round could've REALLY used the feedback. Please keep this in mind for the next contest. Not all artists, if any at all, can try out something completely new that is so far away from their style/speciality and still make it look good without anyone else's opinion/critique. When trying something new, you HAVE to see what others say so you know what you did wrong. Without it, you won't improve... period. It doesn't matter how versatile you are. The feedback I've recieved was valuable to me because I was new and was still in the process of learning, so the feedback in my situation thoughout this contest is with me as the feedback that should've existed in this round would've been with others. The true elite artists that already know the basics that I didn't know didn't need the feedback as much as someone trying something new like me. Do you see what I mean? Basically, new actions/attempts require critique. We won't grow without it. It's a fact that exists not only in art and games, but also in real life.

Aside from that, as I believe AS was trying to say, trying new stuff should be something that artists do during their free time at their own leisure. If you make a challange that forces artists to venture into uncharted territory, you need to at LEAST provide the feedback option, because in some cases (MUCKSTER is an example of this, no offense) such restrictions can completely destroy someone's style. Much of the faults that he may not have seen in his entry had could've been prevented if he merely had that feedback, IMO. Moneyking's restrictions just so happened to lure him into another area of talent he had, but scenarios like that are EXTREMELY rare.

Basically, here's my suggestion from the next Project Custom. Either don't do another challange like this again, or provide the feedback option for such a challange. I'm no trying to be rude or anything. This is just yet some more contrusctive critism, and I feel VERY STRONGLY about this, too. I'm confident that others will agree with me on this.

I'm sure BR plans to give feedback on all challenges, especialy this type, in the future. I belive this was more of a one-time thing because he was gone during the period most entries were turned in and couldn't have given feedback regardless.

Correct me if I'm wrong BR, but it does seem a little illogical for you to not give feedback on a challenge like this without good reason.

Well, I completly agree with what you guys have been saying....my sole purpose was to see what they could do without my help all the time. To see if they could look at a piece and give themselves feedback like I would have given. The restrictions were pure for the challenge aspect.....but I will most definatly give feedback next time around. I really just wanted to see how people would react and how they would perform based on it. It wasnt a bad challenge though.....we just saw some people really needed the help more than others, which ties into the point earlier about having this be a learning experence.

So thats my reasoning....Im gonna try to get PMJ and Max online sometime, its Easter so Its hard to get them right on this.....but there will be some challenges where feedback wont be given....but not this kind of challenge xD

As always I've been asked to judge when I said I wouldn't be, so... I guess I'm too nice for my own good -_-

MUCKSTER
Effect: 6/10 - As it has been said, the transparency wasn't all that hot. It was a good idea, but poorly executed IMO
Color Usage: 6.5/10 - The colours aren't bad, but there's a serious problem with the bottom right corner in this... as everything clashes there -_-
Effort: 6/10 - Well, I'm not sure how long it would actually take, but with the right resources I doubt it would have been a huge length of time...
Originality: 8/10 - It IS original if you knew the purpose... nobody else has related to a fan fic that they've made, and the text relates to the fic title. I don't think the use of anime characters is all that original though.
Relation to the Challenge: 10/10 - Met the requirments, so nothing wrong there.
Overall: 6/10 - I have to admit, this isn't the best you've done. Let's hope that doesn't cost you.
Total: 42.5/60

Bellomence
Effect: 10/10 - Lots of effects that all compliment each other nicely... awesome as always.
Color Usage: 10/10 - Perfect ghost color scheme, as stated earlier. There's nothing wrong here.
Effort: 9/10 - This couldn't have been done in a short time, that's for sure.
Originality: 8/10 - I think ghosts have been used before, but not like this :p
Relation to the Challenge:10/10 Met requirments.
Overall: 9/10 - Yeah, this is cool... Good work as always.
Total: 56/60

INFERNAPE
Effect: 9/10 - Can't say I've seen much like this...
Color Usage: 9/10 - Bright, but well done... there's only one real colour but nothing else is needed here.
Effort: 5/10 - The fact that this was a remake cuts the effort down a little though...
Originality: 3/10 - This IS a remake, so... it's not original really.
Relation to the Challenge:10/10 - Met requirments.
Overall: 9/10 - Really good effects, just too bad this was used already...
Total: 45/60

Monkeyking63
Effect: 7/10 - It's pretty good for being virtually scratched.
Color Usage: 7/10 - Scratched stuff is usually a little sharp around the borders, and this is no exception.
Effort: 8/10 - As always, scratching takes time, and this shows it.
Originality: 7/10 - A little cliched (beach on a beach forum :p), but not done by anyone else explicitly...
Relation to the Challenge:10/10 Met requirments.
Overall: 7/10 - I respect the effort, but scratched stuff is always difficult to sell, seeing as how there's no hugely appealing effects to do... but it's still good.
Total: 46/60

No, they didnt. Max was on this morning, but of coarse he dosent do anything except post in his library, so I dont know whats goin on. Since gamercal posted, we only need one more judge to score and we can move on. Hopefully PMJ will be on and things will be resolved quickly.

First off, I'd like to congradulate all thouse who made it this far.
Second, I'd like to point out some misscalculated Math by Gamercal:
Bellomence
Effect: 10/10 - Lots of effects that all compliment each other nicely... awesome as always.
Color Usage: 10/10 - Perfect ghost color scheme, as stated earlier. There's nothing wrong here.
Effort: 9/10 - This couldn't have been done in a short time, that's for sure.
Originality: 8/10 - I think ghosts have been used before, but not like this
Relation to the Challenge:10/10 Met requirments.
Overall: 9/10 - Yeah, this is cool... Good work as always.
Total: 55/60

10+10+9+10+8+9 = 56, not 55.
