Pokemon Strange-looking Pokemon

Kakuna is an insect in its pupal stage, which wouldn't have a mouth in real life either. Pupitar and Whirlipede are also pupal/chrysalis/cocoon themed, even though they're a dinosaur and a centipede which don't metamorphose in real life. Still, they're mouthless for an explained reason.

Diglett and Dugtrio can be assumed to have mouths under their big noses.

I don't know if they constitute as weird pokemon, but I've had an obsession as of late with the animal wooper is based off of- Axolotls. Mudkip also shows some resemblance to these little guys. I don't know why I've been so obsessed with them, but they're so cool! I'm trying to get a couple as pets.

WOOPER!! <3 Aren't they so adorable and awesome??

I have a leucistic (pink) axolotl! Wooper may be based on salamander larvae in general, they all go through that same stage but it's Axolotls and a couple other species who remain in the gilled larval form for life, only changing under rare conditions.

I just noticed this while in PO teambuilder - the "x" on its head and what appears to be light shining on it resembles the Xbox logo.

Cannot unsee.

Another one that's not mentioned often in this topic is Jinx. I mean seriously WHAT is it supposed to represent? Always creeped me out since I started playing Pokemon. Smoochum as well.

^Any number of mythological monsters who loosely resembled creepy humanoid women with strange powers. There are tons of them in Japanese folklore especially. Mawile is even based on one, the Futakuchi-onna or "two mouthed woman," and froslass is based on another, the yuki-onna or snow woman.

Jynx could also be based on the more European Siren, a female monster who magically seduced human men but lured them to death.

Jynx is based on a japanese fashion trend, called yamanba. Nothing to be afraid of xD That's why I was so upset when Nintendo was sued for Jynx being a parody of an afro american...

Umm... Actually, Jynx was depicted as being in blackface, not a 'parody' of an African American, more like a derogatory (albeit accidental) image towards African Americans. That's why they were sued.
And why would you be upset for a company being sued over a moral whoopsie-daisy?

Just a short answer, because it's so much off topic xD:
Basically, I feel like a piece of art was altered because of too much PC. Just my opinion ^^

A bit less off topic:
I always thought that Weepinbell looks like a pear xD
And I always wondered how Cloyster, Tangela and Forretress look inside. All the dex entries states, that noone ever saw their inside xD'

Understandable, but it wasn't due to PR. It was racist.
Anyway, I've always hated facing off against a Spinda or a Whismur. Their eyes just throw off the design, in Whismur's case. They could of had something good going there, but those eyes threw it out the window.
In Spinda's case... Just, please, I don't want to talk about it. It's too horrifying.

I think you meant shellder. In which case probably something like cloyster without the shell and smaller.

@ Bisharp37:
No.
"When attacked, it launches its horns in quick volleys. Its innards have never been seen." -- Pokédex (R/B)
This black ball is just a "placeholder", just like the one of Tangela ^^

@ Haunted Water: Just for the record: PC, not PR.

PR and PC are relatively the same, Public Relations and Politically Correct. Bottomline is that they changed it due to unintentional racism.
You know what? Gen I Pinsir really bugged the crap out of me. It looked like it had a problem with everything. Like, got a problem? Hey, SWAT team, need some help with that door? Pinsir, go! PINSIR SMASH, PINSIR SMASH!

Well, "PR" is generally used when talking about a company or official's reputation. "Fixing" their PR is what you would accurately call the change to Jynx.

Anyway, Whismur's eyes are why I love it so much. They give it such a cool, unique and freaky look. It's not supposed to be a conventionally cute pokemon, it's a strange sound-oriented monster.

What I want to know is why this happened to Jynx and not Mr. PoPo from Dragon Ball, he was more black face than Jynx and he aired in America at least just fine.

He was blue in some version that I can't remember.

He was blue in the 4Kids/Nicktoons dub it I'm not mistaken. That's probably why the soccer moms weren't bothered.

I always though Tangela was a little weird. Whats on the inside of all those vines? :O
