- Puff is different from her Melee counterpart, but still way better than her Brawl counterpart. I've been able to carry with fair a few times, but have only been able to chain 2 bairs, and I don't think that would've been an actual combo. Bair's a VERY strong killing move now. You can carry people off the egde with fair, and then finish them off with bair. Bair in general seems as spammable as it was in melee for spacing and wall-building. Down-tilt has surprisingly high knockback, Rest can be comboed into, but I wouldn't suggest trying it online, nair is as fast as it used to be, but has higher knockback than it used to, making it useful for getaways and keeping an opponent off the edge, but not so much as a set-up for combos (that's pretty much fair and uair now), up-tilt is as good as ever, Pound has no momentum anymore, so it's useful for stalling in the air, but doesn't aid recovery at all. Other than those things she's pretty much unchanged. She plays like I want her to, and she'll most likely be my main again this game.
- Both Ganon and Zelda feel relatively unchanged from their Brawl counterpart (except Zelda's down-B became way worse). This is fine for me, since I mained bottom tier in Brawl out of spite, so I'm able to pick these up and play them no problem. But this does mean they'll probably be horrible again. Maybe the Darknut has some uses I'm missing...
- Duck Hunt Duo's neutral-B, the can, is pretty awesome. I never liked using Snake, so this might be a field control character I won't abhor using for once.
- Marth/Lucina feel pretty slow, mostly owing to landing lag. Sad.
- Captain Falcon (YES!), despite not having the Melee momentum-transferred air speed, feels really solid. Most of his aerials (except for stomp and knee) have no landing lag, which makes them great for set-ups. The remaining aerials are of course great finishers. All-round way better than he was in Brawl, way, way better.
- Sheik's pretty neat, though I'm not sure what to do now that her fair doesn't kill. She racks up damage almost as fast as she did in Melee, but finishing feels harder. And something about the needles mechanics changed slightly and it's bugging me to no end.
- Robin's pretty fun. Air smashes feel like a great idea, but none of xyr non-smashed aerials really chain together well from what I can tell, so the choice comes down to whether you want to waste a Levin Sword use. In a 2-stock match I haven't run out of Elwinds yet, but I have killed a Robin as Puff by keeping xir off the edge. Gender-neutral pronouns.
- Pac-Man is fun, but optimal play seems really campy. He's way better than I initially expected, with some very fast moves (among which, surprisingly, forward-B). He doesn't really fit my playstyle, sadly, but he's still a very interesting character.
That's all my thoughts at the moment. I've used some more characters, but they don't fit my playstyle at all, so I'm not sure I can comment on their viability.
