RE: The Angels

"Fine? FINE?!" Dan screamed in her face. "IT'S MY FAULT ALL THOSE KIDS DIED! I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO COULD STOP IT!!!!!" Dan screamed in her face, eyes a terrible red color still sobbing. "ALL OF THOSE KIDS DIE AND SOMEHOW I WAKE UP IN SOME KIND OF PARADISE LAND! WHAT. THE. HECK. IS. THIS??!!!" Dan was way up in her face now. He didn't understand anything that was going on right now.

RE: The Angels

OoC: Try to write posts that are more....paragraph-ish.

IC: The boy lifted himself up and screamed as he went. He was very close to her face, so by instinct she backed off. This was more like it. The recently dead were never calm...they had problems beyond humanity to deal with. She was ready to die. These youths weren't. It was strange, she usually got batches of children who starved from hunger or died from disease. Those were the most common.

She backed away, putting her hands before her protectively.

"I'm sorry for your loss. But we all have problems like this here." She paused, to let him think. "Please calm down, so that I can explain where you are and why."

She hoped none of the others would feel obligated to help. More pressure on a delicate child like this would crush the angel. She would have to manuever carefully, in order to let him ride smoothly as an angel.

OoC: Babysitting today, so Pause. Please make only ONE post per character, then leave it alone until I "Un-Pause" this.

RE: The Angels

OOC: Thanks, aggs. I will return when I have more time on my hands - I am finishing my own RPG this fortnight.

RE: The Angels

Celebrating my grandmother's b-day this weekend, so we are still paused, but YOU CAN STILL POST. Just, do it only once!

RE: The Angels

The screaming kid made Drey feel uncomfortable. He thought about trying to help, but he was never good with children. Besides, what would he say? "It's ok, you're dead now"? That would probably make the kid freak out even more. Sounds like something really bad happened to this kid. Where were the other kids that this boy was sure he failed to protect? This boy came here screaming. That means he knew what was happening. Drey thought back to what happened before he showed up. It all happened so fast. He was in a meating in downtown Santiago, Chile. He had been here on business before, he loved going to Chile. Earthquakes weren't uncommon there, and he had felt them before, but this time it was different. It felt like his building wasn't on land, but on a raging ocean. And less than a minute after it started, it stopped. Not just the earthquake, but everything. And he was here.

He shuddered. This was the first time he had really thought about what happened. But there was no pain. It was quick. That must be why he wasn't freaking out. This kid... He must have had it bad.

RE: The Angels

Well, since Rock Wrecker has been gone for almost a week...

IC: The boy silenced himself, and Betty stood up again. She didn't want to leave them this way, but she would have to. They were running out of time. She thought of the key, which opened the gate.

As the gate opened, New York City was revealed. This was where instincts would guide them.

"I'm sorry, but you all have to go in now. We don't have any more time. I wish you the best of luck."

Betty felt somber. She hated leaving them this way...but it was the only way. She had no choice.

Un-Paused

RE: The Angels

OoC: I decided to wait until you come back, but if you want us all to post once during the next pause I will.

In:
Dan tried to calm down and only subdued himself to not screaming. Tears streamed down his face and his eyes were red with a wild look in them. He looked down at the ground so no one could watch him. He wondered if this was some kind of torture the government was using on him for not telling any adults... He remembered feeling like he had started rising when he screamed in that woman's face.
This place is weird, he thought. Why am I here? Is this death? I thought I was supposed to go to heaven and meet God or something... Dan looked up. New York, eh? I was here once. I should be able to get around.

OoC: Are we like by Times Square?

RE: The Angels

The gates opened, and Betty left.
"What, no guided tour?"
Drey looked around, confused. No one else seemed to know what to do either. So Drey decided to go in. He passed through the silver gates into the city. He looked around, trying to recognize the part of the city he was in so that he could find his way around. There were people, or were they angels? everywhere. Just like New York.
"What now...?"

Betty didn't leave....

Also, I left an open spot for you, rock wrecker, to get your character to respond, and you didn't take it. So....yah.

IC: The city began with two looming towers. Some may recognize them from 9/11. Betty herself remembered the crash...it was horrifying. She wondered if any of them were old enough to remember. She was, of course.

"You can guide your way through there, despite any doubts. Just follow your instincts. Whatever place you pick to live is meant to be. Just call my name if you need anything else." she turned to the crying child. "Just say "Betty" and I'll be there.

With that, she gave a sad smile and lifted herself in the air with her wings. Eventually, she disappeared in the sky.

RE: The Angels

OoC: Oh, i thought you said she left.

IC: Drey had been walking, and he found himself at the foot of the twin towers. The feeling he got from the buildings was unsettling. He remembered that day well. He was in Beijing on business. It was about 8:30 PM and he had just gotten back to his hotel after getting dinner with a friend. He turned on the tv and was flooded with images of burning buildings. It was terrifying, expecially since flying played such an important role in his life. Even though he was 7,000 miles away, it had stuck home. He was going to fly back to London the day after tomorrow... And seeing the buildings here standing tall once again, it brought all those memories back. He kept walking.

Soon, he arrived at another familiar spot: Times Square. The lights, the people, the buildings, it seemed like he was just here yesterday. Maybe living here would be nice... he thought. But instead of stopping to find a place, he continued walking.

He found himself in Midtown West and suddenly knew the perfect place, he could see it ahead. An appartment on the edge of Central Park would be great! He was still close to Times Square and was practically in the middle of the island.
'Do I just walk in and ask for an apartment...?"

OoC: Can we basically live anywhere in New York City?

Well, it differs. Obviously houses aren't a choice, and It's not like you could live in a park or a library. But an apartment that appeals to your character works.

RE: The Angels

OoC: Hey guys, I realize that it may seem hard to post a paragraph per post, but you could at least give a little warning before ditching the RPG.

Also, rooms are decorated with imagination, so you can post about your character discovering that.

IC: Betty headed through the town, going inside her own home. It was a tiny apartment in a tall, gothic-style building. At her blue door numbered "563", she opened the door, slamming it behind her.

How can she abandon those angels? She knew it was policy to never see angels again after leading them to the city...but this group was different. She had only lead three so far, but she still felt this was different.

She led herself into the restroom, and splahed some water onto her face.

You can't help them...
They don't need your help...
She thought to herself repeatedly. But that wasn't working. She dried off her face and looked in the mirror.

Her hair was now ruffled, and she released it from it's usual pigtails. The hair fell on to her back, and she walked out of the bathroom, slumping on the couch.

A nap, yes. That's what she needed. Slowly, she drifted into sleep.

RE: The Angels

OoC: It's not that it's hard to make a paragraph per post, it's just that I don't know what you mean by pick an apartment. I don't know enough about New York to just pick an apartment I guess.

Just have your character navigate through some streets, find a building, then find a room. It's not too hard...

RE: The Angels

OoC: Ok I wasn't really sure what you were looking for so here goes...

IN: Dan strolled down the streets of New York and made his way towards Brooklyn. Where to go, where to go... As he finally arrived he saw the place he knew was his. He made his way to the legendary park he had only heard about in awe. Wha... What is this place?! This can't be New York, Ebbets Field was torn down like 50 years ago. Dan remembered Betty saying he call her at any time.
Feeling very stupid to just say this out to loud he asked, "Um... Betty can I um..." Dan started to say. Man this stupid... maybe I should just stop or something. Someone could hear me and think I'm mad.

RE: The Angels

OoC: Very nice. Now the other players get to see what the call is all about.

IC: Betty...Betty...Betty...Betty!...BETTY!

Betty jumped from her sleep, causing her to to fall off the bed, almost damaging her wings. Of course, that was impossible, but still. Her name kept ringing in her head. One of them was calling her. Well, at least she could see them that way. She tied her hair in a messy ponytail before leaping out her window. Flying above the builldings, Betty had to jump off of something solid to make up for the fact that she had just woken up.

She landed in Ebbets Field, another example of the death of buildings living in Heaven. She saw the screaming boy from earlier and walked towards him.

"Sorry, I was in a rush." She said, motioning to her hair. "You called?"

RE: The Angels

Dan was stunned to see Betty appear so quickly. He hadn't even really asked a question yet. This place is so strange. How could she hear me if she was nowhere in sight? Why did everyone look like some kind of angel and why did destroyed buildings still exist? Seeing Betty staring at him waiting for a question, he snapped out of it.

"Well... um... I was wondering Betty if... if it would be ok to live somewhere in Ebbets Field?" Once Dan said it he realized how stupid the question was. If Ebbets Field still somehow existed, then it must be used for something. I couldn't just walk in and ask to live in a game suite. Those didn't even exist all those years ago. If you were going to make an Ebbets Field you wouldn't add features that weren't there, right? And besides all of that, I live in Southern California, not some kind of replicated New York. Why am I being asked to live in a weird place with lots of people dressed up in angel costumes?

Somehow Dan had still overlooked the fact that he too was an angel. He didn't think he was dead because he was religious and thought of heaven differently. Also he died very quickly and assumed he somehow blacked out. Dan assumed to be in some kind of place away from the real world, being kept for reasons unknown to him. He just couldn't face the truth.

RE: The Angels

"Well... um... I was wondering Betty if... if it would be ok to live somewhere in Ebbets Field?" The boy asked. It was a baseball field, one that she had never gotten the chance to go to.

"Well, we can certainly try. Sometimes, your soul is embedded to places like this. I'm sure that maybe the couch's office or some other kind of room is open." She explained, heading inside the entrance. No one was there, but the aftermath of a game was obvious. Popcorn was sprawled across the floor as she walked down and throughout the arena.

"Tell me if you feel...attracted to something. Like a room."

RE: The Angels

"Well, well, well. This city is huge. Where to go?"
Royal looked at all the stores that lined the sidewalks. "A book store?" Royal walked closer to the sidewalk and observed the books on the display window.
He looked up and saw that the book store had what seemed to be apartments on upper floors. He would have reading material, and
a lovely place to spend time. He walked inside to find out the details.
