RE: .:The Guild: A RolePlayer's Paradise:.Taking Members!

It sounds good. I do, however, notice that the plotline is very linear.

I was just playing some Call of Duty, and this idea for an RPG came to mind.

It is the year 2012. In the past year, many events around the world shook it to it's core. In North America, the Mexican Drug Trade ultimately found its way to New Mexico, where than it branched out to every other state in the nation. A civil war began to brew. In Australia, destruction became frequent, with all forms of natural disasters ravaging the land. Now, almost half of the Australia is underwater, and civilians are pleading for rescue. In the Middle East, religious wars spread like wildfire. Their ancient bond with Russia broke in late 2011 when the prime minister burned a Quran, and outrightly badmouthed the Sunni branch of Islam. Fearing the rise of Shi'a rule due to this embarrasment, the violence here grew, with thousands dying each week. In Europe, terrorism swells. Each day, new groups invade cities like Paris, London, and Berlin. The Leaning Tower of Pizza and the Eiffel Tower have fallen, and most families huddle in bomb shelters for days on end. Strangely enough, the only safe continents in the world seem to be South America and Africa. Most families struggle to find their way to these safelands, but many are brutally killed on the way. It seems the world is entering an age of destruction...

until...

On December 21, 2011, an announcement to the entire world is made. It is made by a man named Nicholas Marx. This man is believed to be the head of Russian terrorism. The announcement states that in exactly one year, they will bomb the South American continent. However, a leading team of scientists realize that this sudden shift in land and plate tectonics will cause the Earth to fall out of orbit, ultimately forcing it to collide with the sun.

Afraid for the safety of the Earth, leading scientists in South America work to produce a large-scale weapon in order to stop the terrorism worldwide. They used biological warfare, and worked to create an animal that could destroy the forces of these worldwide threats. What they come up with, however, is very odd.

They come up, with Pokemon!! After doing tests on these Pokemon, they realize that each thrive in a different form of enviroment and temperature. Feeling confident that these creatures can stop the terrorism, they launch pods of these Pokemon on each continent. Now, North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, and Antarctica are inhabited by Pokemon. The terrorists, however, counter their efforts. They develop small orbs that can defy the laws of molecular space by stuffing indefinate space in a small ball. They creatively name these objects Poke Balls. Now, armed with Poke Balls, the terrorists capture the Pokemon, and use them to further execute their vicious incentives.

Shocked with the backfiring of their plan, the government of South America and Africa ultimately decide to make up an elite force of young men and women to venture out into the world, capture powerful forms of Pokemon, and use them to stop the terrorism once and for all. Once the team has been assembled, they will each receive a starter Pokemon, and along with them, start their worldwide adventure. The lab where this is conducted is located in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Their first stop is in Buenos Aires.

Fearing that their empire of terror may be over, the terrorists produce their own army, and send them out in the world to stop the opposing forces. They also give them a starter, and send them to their first stop, which is in the ruins of Chernobyl.

You will be playing on one side of these armies, either the side from South America, or the Russian terrorists.

I know that this is very risque, but I really like this story so far. It's PG-13. The reason it is very war-like is because I was playing COD when I thought of this. Let me know if it's good or not.

RE: .:The Guild: A RolePlayer's Paradise:.Taking Members!

Thats sounds like somthing I could really get into, if it was approved.

RE: .:The Guild: A RolePlayer's Paradise:.Taking Members!

I just had two great RPG ideas at the same time!

Who here has watched the Stephen King movie Maxium Overdrive? I was gonna base an rpg off this, being one of those rpg's that take a tale and twist a little to make pokemon fit. We could pokemon, in a world where the machines, and even some other non-living things, such as pokeballs, come to life and want revenge on this world. You could be a trainer or a pokemon, and you would have to make your way to _____ to survive, but it could take a while. We would work together to survive for length of this armageddon. If you wanted to quit, you cant just say I quit. You must RPG your person or pokemon dying. Make it creative would be best.

And...#2!

For you Maximum Ride fans, i thought of this. This is gonna be a non-pokemon RPG. No pokemon involved.

You must be a hybrid experiment from the School. You escape, and must live in hiding trying to make a living. Eventually, near the climax of the RPG, we will begin to fight back by attacking them, and such. Near the end, we could actually attack the School. I could see this RPG growing and making sequels. In a sequel you could, for instance, be another experiment, or you could be an exsisting character, and try fighting to save the other characters. It would go along those lines anyways.

Please tell me your opinions.

RE: .:The Guild: A RolePlayer's Paradise:.Taking Members!

I like all of these ideas spouting off! Brilliance!

Off Topic: Please don't act the way Void did towards my avy.

RE: .:The Guild: A RolePlayer's Paradise:.Taking Members!

Off Topic: At first, without reading what was above it, the first thing i thought about it was "MENTAL PATIENT GONE MENTAL-ER WITH CUBE TOYS!" Im sorry, just telling the truth. Its ok I guess. Kind of funny actually.

RE: .:The Guild: A RolePlayer's Paradise:.Taking Members!

Sorry nabby, what was yours again?

Okay, if RPG's are moved, I will team up with some of you guys to create a site. BUT NOT UNTIL IT BECOMES OFFICIAL THAT RPGS ARE BANNED.

Beyond that, I am loving the ideas. What we need though, is structure. Sure, many ideas are great and inspiring, but how long would they last? Could there be sequels?

Anyways, if you would like your idea to be submitted on the official poll, please fill out the form below. I will post all of these ideas on Febuary 24th, whatever time of the day I please. This should give you plenty of time to come up with structured ideas. I will post them and give no names, that way it can't be based on who made it up or not. PM the form to me.

Name:
Plot:
Rules:
NPCs(Non-Player-Characters):
Character Form:
What would keep the game going?
What ideas do you have for small quests within the game?
Would you have a character in the game?
Where is the game placed?
When is the game placed?
What species are the characters?
What species are the enemies?
How long do you expect this to last?

The winner of this contest will be able to have his/her RPG be the ULTIMATE RPG that we will all work on together to improvise before posting. We will make this work. Please note: There are no rules to the amount of writing on the form, but please note that adding good grammar and lots of description will look good on your part. Everyone gets a SINGLE VOTE.

RE: .:The Guild: A RolePlayer's Paradise:.Taking Members!

OK, now that we've got ideas out of the way, we need to try to think of ways that we can get RPG's to be more active than before.

Now, there are a few ways this can be done. One is to promote RPG's with long, lengthy, and well thought out stories. In my opinion, I'd say that stories with more than ten lines of story and information will prosper longer than those that have, say, 5 lines of fluff. While this may be hard to do, many RPGs have failed due to not enough of a drive in the story. Also, each RPG has to have a unique and creative appeal towards it. The only reason that the RPGs currently remaining are still around is because they are either a)Unique and different or b)Part of a series that is popular for it's entertaining and competitive drive

Since we are trying to make the ULTIMATE RPG, I think it would be a good idea to at least shoot for a 10 line story for an RPG. This will ensure longevity. Sorry if this makes me sound mean, but we need to dig deeper.

RE: .:The Guild: A RolePlayer's Paradise:.Taking Members!

Aggie said, and I quote ..."PM the form to me." Either way, I agree with Boddy.

EDIT: Btw, Boddy, I love your new sig. I fell in love with KH. I love Goofy and Mickey, ecspecially.
AWESOME SIGNATURE!

RE: .:The Guild: A RolePlayer's Paradise:.Taking Members!

pokemaister-I'm pretty sure I said to PM the forms to me.
:/

Boddy-Very true. I was thinking of possibly creating a story for plot in the Writing Corner, then linking it to the RPG. Also, the forms that are PM'd to me, are actually more like first drafts. Eventually, we will work and complete almost all of the ideas. The contest is really just saying which one will be our first try. This will be a long project.

RE: .:The Guild: A RolePlayer's Paradise:.Taking Members!

WOW. Just spent an hour typing the up the info for my form. I hope you guys like it. Even if it doesn't win I might try to make it into a RPG anyways. Whew.

RE: .:The Guild: A RolePlayer's Paradise:.Taking Members!

I would love to do a Lord of the Rings RPG, but I doubt it'd get off the ground. :(

I see all these ideas here, and I wish they were all RPGs we could do now. Maybe I'll send a form in for my idea.

RE: .:The Guild: A RolePlayer's Paradise:.Taking Members!

My RPG idea is on posts 82 and 84. It's not complete yet.

RE: .:The Guild: A RolePlayer's Paradise:.Taking Members!

Well, if you want me to see it so bad, just PM it to me in the form.
:/
Could you have at least posted a link?

RE: .:The Guild: A RolePlayer's Paradise:.Taking Members!

I have submitted my form. Good luck to everyone!

RE: .:The Guild: A RolePlayer's Paradise:.Taking Members!

I would, but I'm not finished with all the details yet. Like who I will introduce and when. Lots of names. Etc.

RE: .:The Guild: A RolePlayer's Paradise:.Taking Members!

Well, you have several weeks to get it done and over with, so take your time. ;)

RE: .:The Guild: A RolePlayer's Paradise:.Taking Members!

I HAZ RETURNED

And I have new ideas. Sounds good to me, Aggiegwyn. I'm currently trying to sort out our new PokeDawn Forums with Wobbufett, so I might not be on so much.

I like the ideas everyone else has, though I'm not sure the mods will go for the 'doom and gloom' style RPGs.

RE: .:The Guild: A RolePlayer's Paradise:.Taking Members!

I think that a doom and gloom RPG is exactly the right way to go. All the RPGs lack action and drive. In this RPG, the seriousness of life's complexities are mingled in with the idea of Pokemon. I for one say it's a good mix. I also have ideas if there were to be sequels.
