^ those will be the days...DARN IT WILL GET REPLACED BY LOSTGAR. hold on let me re do this. we have 11 sets right now with CoL on the way making it 12. then BW making it 13 and BW2 in July to make it 14 which doesnt make sense. then if they do RR-on we will cut it down to, 10 with RR, SV, AR, HS, UD, UL, TR, CoL, BW, BW2. then we get our last set setting us at 11 and then next years Feb set putting us at 12 then Apr set putting us at 13 and then July to make it 14. it makes more sense for SV-on actually. that will put us at 9 and ending with 13... im confused

I wasn't blaming you, DNA. >_> I'm just saying this thread is extremely useful, no matter when it was made.

I personally think UL-on (somewhere down the line, maybe not this next Rotation) would make great sense considering all the HG/SS reprints in CoL. HG/SS-on this year would be kind of dumb IMO, especially if they just rotate all the SP and make it RR-on.

dmaster out.

I didn't think you were blaming me for anything...

I'm gonna be really stupid and actually trust PUSA's word... I think that they might do what they said this time, and RR-on seems like a good format to me.

RR-on wouldn't be too bad. I run a basically RR-on deck anyways.

my Charizard deck will lose Technical machine TS-1, BTS (i'll just add a 3rd rare candy and call it good), warp energy (which is Easily replaced with switch or warp point), Cynthia's feelings (which I sometimes use instead of PONT), bubble coat, and moltres MD. whoop dee doo. time to get some more bench shields.

water deck will lose Abomasnow and Manaphy. the rest is hgss-on.

my Giratina X/Glaceon X deck will be no more.

my Ampharos Prime/Lanturn Prime deck will lose Luxray LA, and the better Mareep's and Flaffy's, oh and BTS.

I like to mix it up @ league while keeping it modified legal format.

once it's HGSS-on there will be a ton or legendary pokemon running about, slower Meta makes them playable =)

To be honest, I don't quite see the difference between the level of dominance of lostgar in HGSS-on and RR-on. This is due to the fact that without Platinum; SP loses its speed! What used to be a good, speedy counter to Lostgar, will simply turn out to become a slow, expensive deckchoice that doesn't really hit for much damage. Therefore, I prefer the idea of AR-on. I know it's never going to happen, but I like the Idea of keeping Charizard, Arceus, Spiritomb and E-belt in the format while excluding SP totally, seeing as people in general are kind of sick of Luxchomp winning over and over... With AR-on, we get rid of Sableye - making it more likely for a Burmy-deck to function due to decreased donk-rate. Charizard/Emboar-decks will skyrocket an prevent a totally JUmpluff-based format, something I fear because of Sunflora's incredible poke-power. Me myself, will probably be running an Oshawott/Squirtle/Totodile - deck. So - prepare to be hydro pumped!

Platinum: Arceus-On would be an okay format but that cuts Rising Rivals and Supreme Victors which have only been in the format for 1 season. I don't know about you but I'm getting sick of everyone thinking there should be a mid-season rotation cut to HeartGold/SoulSilver-On when it isn't necessary at all at least not at this point in time anyway.

In that kind of format which is presumably what Japan's current format is, they're running different tech's in their LostGar decks compared to what people outside of Japan are playing. Instead of Palkia G Lv. X for Lost Cyclone they're running other stuff from the Lost Link Mini-Set among other techs they've replaced.

I don't understand why people don't realize that a rotation to Rising Rivals-On would get rid of SP deck dominance. LostGar is pretty much going to take it's place assuming that it does as great as some people expect this coming States unless If LuxChomp can prove it can still top it of course. That's the matchup I'd love to see is LostGar against LuxChomp.

Emboar doesn't make for a good replacement for Charizard AR or Typhlosion Prime, the reason why Typhlosion Prime has better synergy with Charizard than Emboar is because Typhlosion can actually get Fire Energies out of your Discard Pile after you discard them from using Zard's Burning Tail attack though most of the time you'll end up using Fire Wing. Emboar has more synergy with Magmortar UL due to Mantle Bazooka.

@ Card Slinger J
Returning fire energy from the discard pile is IMO a job better performed by Fisherman. Why isn't a fishermarman/Emboar-combo a much better option than Typhlosion's mediocre power?

^but then you have to have 4 energies in your hand. discard all 4 then fisherman. sure emboar would be good cause then you can just put a million energies on but still...its a pain to get 4 energies in the discard for fisherman. typhlosion is immediate energy regain. sure it damages you but that can be healed immediately to...with like...well another stage 2 like bellossom or nidoqueen but still, it seems like it would work better that way.

Why on earth would getting energy into the discard pile be a problem?? Fire pokemon base themselves on hitting for high amounts of damage at the cost of discarding energy. But with the release of Emboar - suddenly this becomes an advantage! Emboar>Typhlosion, I'm just sayin'...

typhlosion's power is more than mediocre. since it actually allows for a 2 energy attach per turn assuming u have some in the discard. so just run typhlosion with ninetails or engineer's adjustments. that way u get only 1 into the discard, then u get to draw, then u can attach that energy and whatever other energy u drew from the poke-power or Supporter's effects.

did typhlosion prime get reprinted in CoL? since HGSS will eventually be rotated out a year before CoL

@ATS, Fisherman takes up the supporter for the turn. And while you may not think it's tough to get 4 energy discarded, it takes Ninetales 4 turns to do so, and if you already have enough to attack with your main attacker by then, what's the point of using Enbuoh at all?

@Scizorliscious, I admit that the fact that fisherman takes up your supporter for the turn can be kind of hazardous, but still worth it IMO! Emboar will still be worth using despite an active and well-functioning Charizard, seeing as you would benefit from setting up as many zards as can. Simply use Emboar's power to fuel zard's second attack, (which btw discards your energy;)), then after a couple of attacks, use fisherman to recycle your energy. If it wouldn't have been for LostGar, this deck would wreck in our upcoming format, seening as Gyarados surely leaves...

^ typhlosion=emboar. you can eventually get 4 and then fisherman for all of them and attach them all with emboar to set up someone or you can discard that one energya nd get it back with typhlosion. it just depends on your situation.

@ATS, If you've used Charizard's 2nd attack already, you don't really need energy accel, since you already have all the energy on it. If you're relying on using an attack to be able to use that attack more quickly, something's wrong.

Typhlosion>Emboar, because of the reasons mentioned so far, and the fact that if Typhlosion gets dragged active for whatever reason, it can either attack with Flare Destroy for 3 in a pinch(by afterburnering to itself, thus speeding up the energy attachment process) or retreat for the somewhat manageable 2. If Emboar gets dragged active, you have to either drop 4 the old-fashioned way to do an AMAZING 80, or burn 4 to RUN AWAY. Both are pretty bad.

Typhlosion just does the tech job much better than Emboar. Besides, if you run the Emboar/Fisherman combo, then you essentially edit Ninetales out. This is not a good thing due to the very minimal draw power in the format now that Claydol isn't around. Ninetales is one of the top 2 draw power engines, next to Magnezone Prime, and a fire deck not running it is really not an option. It's just too good.

There isn't a darn thing wrong with Fisherman using up your supporter for the turn if you really need it, but if you can find a way around it, and in so doing use your supporter on something else, than that's the better option

Oh, and so I don't get warned for the umpteenth time, I believe the rotation will be RR-on. A mid-season rotation seems completely illogical to me. RR-AR have not had enough time in the format and a random cut of 6 sets IMO is just not gonna happen.

Hmm, why would a fisherman/Emboar- combo get in the way of using Ninetales? In my proxy-deck I run them all and it works smoothly... A simple walkthrough of the idea:

1. You discard an nrg from your hand and use Ninetales' amazing power, stocking up on cards.
2. Now having lots of nrg in your discard pile, (lots of ways of achieving this; Ninetales, junk arm to mention a few...), you play a fisherman to grab as many fire nrg as you can.
3. Then you use Emboar's amazing power and go crazy adding energy to Infernape X and multiple zards.
4. Use one of these pokemon's powerful attacks to hit for lots of damage, thus discarding more nrg.

Repeat this for the following turns, together with abusing the sp-engine (for infernape x), and et voila, you've won the game!

^Isn't that a bit... clunky? Let's see:
2 Stage 2s in Charizard and Emboar, and
2 effective Stage 2s in Ninetales and Infernape 4 LV.X.
I just don't see it working with so many fast decks still out there.

Yes, it can be a bit hard to set up, but the way I play it, I manage to maintain consistency, despite the many different stages by abusing the sp-engine, while grabbing fire nrg with shiny vulpix. With energy gain, I have my infernape hitting for 100 t2, and most importantly, find myself with 2+ fire nrg in the discard pile. After this I can stall by using INfernape's incredible power while setting up my bench with both emboar and charizard, utilizing rare candy/BTS. And when the setup's complete, no one can argue that amazing combos aren't seen:)
