What Can Be Done to Improve PokeBeach Forums?

If that's really a problem for you, then just keep reading their posts multiple times until you get the point.

Asking us multiple times to explain the same thing in different ways comes off as really annoying and doesn't really make our jobs much easier. I understand that trying to grasp things is difficult for you, but we try to explain it in the easiest way we can. From there it's up to you to grasp our meaning; we have good reasons for what we do, and they're to help out the forum as a whole.

...I'm not exactly sure why I spoke in first person there; I'm technically not full staff right now

Sometimes you just have to accept things you do not understand. You might see the logic in your point but if that decision has been made and explained thoroughly, the discussion is over with. That has to be the same for everyone. I can not grant you an exception without being unfair to everyone else. That does not make your point of view any less valid, but the staff must do what we think is the best for the community as a whole.

Ah ok. I will try my best to do a little better. Did not mean to be rude or anything. Sorry guys.:(

I think more articles should be allowed for the portal to be released. So far almost all the articles have benn posted by mods. I but hard to work into an article, but the submission was declined. Then I see this:

we are actually having a portal for good articles (most on the TCG). However, there's only a few members doing it right now.
and am thinking about how there would be more articles if they would be allowed. For the site to be as good as 6P, there also has to be quantity. Even though quality is extremely important, more articles has to be accepted (with advice on why the article didn't make it instead of "your article will not be going up at this point. Sorry." A lot of reasonable feedback should be given. Also, better guidelines should be given too. The main reason my article didn't make it is because the type of article I did (deck anayisis) was not liked. Not the content, the type of article.

I think a lack of communication is also part of the problem here.

We don't get hardly any submissions for the front page. If we actually got submissions, us TCG mods wouldn't be working so hard to provide you guys with content.

Your article wasn't accepted at the time because it was still relatively short. I didn't feel as though it provided enough content to be posted on the front page. Shorter, less informative articles are better off in the Competitive Collective. Single deck analysis articles aren't exactly what we're looking for, but we'll accept them if we get good submissions.

On top of that, glace, I also told you another major reason why your article shouldn't have been posted.

We should have a want thread for TCG so it can be easier
And what do you mean by this exactly?

But you don't get none

Then I am saying explain why it is not accepted when saying no, explain a lot about improvements. If there are certain things you do want to see, say so.

I fixed it up and sent them to Celebi.

Celebi23 sent me a PM about this regarding my TyRam article, and I completely agree; deck reviews don't belong on the front page, and mine was nowhere near good enough to be there. Zorua has talked to me about making an article that revolved around how EX Pokemon will change the format, and I have to say, that is something that belongs on the front page.

There's no use complaining that your article didn't make it, because a deck analysis doesn't really belong on the front page. I was disappointed at first that after 3 months of work, my article did not make it, but I accepted it. I would have made the same decision after I thought about it for a while, and I've already stated the reason; PB isn't looking for deck analyses.

I noticed that WPM and mod or Smods are only allowed to post news. What about the rest of the members that have news? Why can't we have an equal position to post news if we have it available? Sure it has to be under strict circumstances but if we have it why can't we post it? Say if we have something to go to the main page as an example?:)

It has to be reliable so we don't get something like a PurpleKecleon hoax or whatnot. If you do have news, your best bet is to notify WPM of it.

If it's worthy of submission, it would need to be submitted to a higher-up anyway.

Also stuff regarding permissions and junk like that

Of course it would have to be legitimate but as members of the forum we should have the same right to post the news if we have a legitimate news story for everyone to read. It would have to be reviewed before it can officially be posted yes but why not as we all are members and we should do our best to post news as the staff and WPM can be busy at times so why not be able to do if ourselves if it will benefit the site for the rest of the community? That is what I am trying to say anyway.:)

If it has to be reviewed, then it has to be reviewed by the staff before it can be posted. It's as simple as that.

~If a member wants something posted, they can contact the mod of that area
~The mod will look over it and deem it worthy of approval or not
~If not, the mod will tell the member what changes to make
~If so, then it is okay to be posted
~If you know it's okay, the staff will already have the article or topic in their possession
~That means the staff will post the article, thus speeding up the submission process

ergo

that's why the staff are posting the articles there.

Besides, it's not like they're credit hogs. They clearly post the author's name at the top of each article.

What I think we should do here is bring back the Pokemon VG trading threads. Its hard enough trying to trade anymore. There are players, like myself, who may want them back.
