XY What Cool New Pokémon / Evolution Do You Want to See in the 6th Generation?

RE: What cool new Pokemon do you want to see in the 6th generation?

^That's what I've been thinking about for quite some time - they should make a pokémon based on the Komodo dragon and it could be Dragon/Poison...

EDIT:
I also would like this to be made into a pokémon:

The Mantis shrimp. It would have a huge base Attack stat for sure...

RE: What cool new Pokemon do you want to see in the 6th generation?

I loved this shoebill animal <3 And I love the idea of a komodo dragon. As poison being the only type missing for legendaries, the probable Z shaped legendary could be dragon/poison

I'd like a pokémon based on a red panda and this little guy too

I'd much rather a separate Quetzalcoatl pokemon. Dunsparce is based on the Tsuchinoko, a creature from Japanese folklore resembling a short, pudgy snake. It'd be a shame to completely throw out its basis for one from an entirely different culture, and considering how beloved the former legendary critter is in Japan, I doubt they'd ever do that; if they ever evolve Dunsparce, it will probably just be into a bigger Tsuchinoko.
It could evolve but only into a bigger, more menacing and powerful pudgy snake. I found a Fakemon of what it could look like: http://nastyjungle.deviantart.com/art/dunsparce-evo-334716025

See? All it is is just a bigger pudgy snake, but it works. :p

Aquapulse....WHAT? ...I mean....-WHAT?-

How on Earth is there anything even remotely gross about a cute, spiky little lizard biting its tail? There's no reason for a reptile to seem uglier to anyone than a dog or a bird; the only difference is that the latter are covered in hair or feathers, which aren't that different from scales anyway.

And...calling a mantis shrimp....gross...?

Whhaaaaaaaaat.

I think people are insane to think any insect, arachnid or crustacean is gross (what could possibly be ugly about just being a different shape, covered in clean little plates of armor?) but I've especially never met a single person who could look at a mantis shrimp and not think it was gorgeous.

Invertebrates have the most artistic, ornate and orderly shapes in the natural world; they should be the standard of beauty according to normal human psychology, and they are inarguably the true face of nature. The things people more popularly call "cute," like dolphins, dogs, birds and other warm-blooded vertebrates, make up only a tiny, tiny weird fraction of life on Earth and are, honestly, the most messy, filthy, lopsided organisms around. Mammals are meaty, hairy, oily blobs. I still love them too, and I still think they have their own prettiness, I love kittens and sea lions and all that crapola, but they just can't compare, beauty wise, to the intricate, perfectly ordered armor suit of a wasp, the fluidity of an octopus or the repeating patterns of a bristleworm.

Honestly it upsets me that anyone is capable of finding evn one animal species ugly or gross; none of them should be. They're all natural, orderly, fascinating and unique, every single last species of life is lovable; even those that can kill you, poison you, suck your blood or give you a disease. Those things still just give them personality and makes the planet a more exciting, strange and remarkable place.

Stop! Oh the woes! *vomits*

On the other note, Dolphins are being cute isn't the only reason why it's my favorite animal. I rode a dolphin when I was 14, it was an amazing experience. I cannot explain into words. You just have to experience it. I also loved dolphin because they are really smart mammals, they use their sonar to find things underwater, they have guts to beat up a shark no matter what the costs are. (BADSHARKZ) they are also empathetic. I just love dolphins period.

RE: What cool new Pokemon do you want to see in the 6th generation?

I didn't say anything was wrong with dolphins, just that anyone who appreciates any animal at all should have no problem opening their eyes a little wider and seeing that they're all gorgeous. Every single hair and contour on every known animal is part of a precise, orderly pattern (exactly what the human brain interprets as beauty to begin with) and the only reason anyone ever finds any organism gross or ugly is a lack of understanding of it. Not to mention, it's just naturally easier for people to hate things with little reason than to see why they should like more things :p

And don't even get me started on the horrible attitudes people have towards sharks. Shark attacks are phenomenally rare, and marine ecosystems would perish without such apex predators.

Dolphins are in fact much more violent creatures than sharks, territorially killing other animals whether or not they intend to eat them, and in fact, dolphins seldom kill sharks for defense; sharks don't pose a big threat to them, as most sharks eat far smaller fish or prey that is already injured. Nonetheless, dolphins will gang up and slaughter sharks who are minding their own business, then "play" with the corpses, not even eating them. Bull dolphins will also force females, young, and even other animal species to mate with them before beating them to death. This exact behavior has been killing weaker porpoise species in great numbers; biologists have been at a loss to explain what motivates them to do this stuff, or why they so rarely turn against humans, though that's not completely unheard of...there's just only been a single human death by dolphin, and he was believed to have provoked it while drunk :p

They're still just animals, being animals, and still beautiful too..but there are no "good" or "bad" animals. All animals just try to survive, and that includes a lot of behavior that we would see as savage and cruel. The popular image of dolphins as only gentle, playful, friendly "good guys" is environmentally harmful, scientifically inaccurate, and downplays how remarkable they are as pack-hunting killers, the wolves of the sea. They even use their sonar as a pain-inducing, paralyzing weapon! Terrifyingly awesome.

Sharks deserve the same respect and love as any sea-mammal, and are currently at far greater risk of extinction due to merciless overfishing and the barbaric practice of finning; people catch sharks, cut their fins off, and then dump the rest to slowly starve to death, unable to swim properly.

EDIT/ oh...I guess I totally did get started on the bad rep of sharks :(
I don't mean to sound animal obsessed to mentally damaged levels, it's just, like, my main joy in life and I hope to eventually be a biology teacher!

I love animals too, but bugs...it just creeps me out. I remember when I was a kid I found a centipede. Oh my god, I will never forget that moment when I screamed and lost my voice a while. :p

RE: What cool new Pokemon do you want to see in the 6th generation?

It was probably much more scared by the screaming giant, but you probably knew that :p
My first encounter with a centipede was finding a mother curled up around her babies to keep them safe!

I know they never will, but I've always held out hope that when they finally do make a dolphin pokemon, it might be a dark type for aforementioned reasons, and dangerous looking rather than the predictable pink cutesy thing...unless they make a river dolphin, since those ARE actually pink, but dark would still make sense since they're believed to wield curses and evil magic in local folklore. People believe it so strongly, though, that they kill them on sight.

I don't mean to constantly be depressing!

RE: What cool new Pokemon do you want to see in the 6th generation?

Aren't mantis shrimps the ones that can punch through glass? I remember seeing something on Animal Planet about them once, it was so cool. I'd love to have a Pokemon one.

I also thought of a pretty interesting replacement for Fossil Pokemon when thinking of strange animals that could be made into Pokemon: Frozen Pokemon. Not Rock/Whatever fossil dinosaurs, but rather Ice/Whatever extinct, not-dinosaur animals. An Ice/Normal dodo bird and Ice/Grass wooly mammoth anyone?

Don't believe me? Look up it's pokedex description.

RE: What cool new Pokemon do you want to see in the 6th generation?

I completely forgot about Mamoswine. A dodo is still up for grabs though. :p

RE: What cool new Pokemon do you want to see in the 6th generation?

I want to see a chatot evo!

Also a dolphin type pokemon :p

RE: What cool new Pokemon do you want to see in the 6th generation?

Umm... Robot, Doduo was made with the Dodo in mind.
And there are only two dinosaur fossils.
Archeops doesn't count because it is a bird.

You guys know what I mean, I'm close enough.

Doduo is supposed to be a cross between an ostrich and kiwi, but has two heads. This is a dodo bird:

It'd be cool to have a Shellos thing going on where we get both.

Birds are dinosaurs. Science fully recognizes them now as a group of very tiny, toothless, heavily feathered dinosaurs.

And Doduo doesn't look anything like a dodo, so a dodo pokemon is still valid :p

RE: What cool new Pokemon do you want to see in the 6th generation?

Dinosaurs are reptiles (read: "Terrible Lizard").
Birds are birds.
Your argument is invalid!

RE: What cool new Pokemon do you want to see in the 6th generation?

If you want to get technical, Archeops is supposed to be an Archeopteryx, the supposed link between reptiles and birds. The real animal has been found to be entirely bird, but the representation in Pokemon still stands.

RE: What cool new Pokemon do you want to see in the 6th generation?

They were named 'terrible lizards' back in 1842 (I think). In the 60's was when dinosaurs being birds was just a theory, but by the 90's most palentologists accepted it. The bone structures of some dinosaurs are really similar to birds and there are about 30 or so flightless dinosaurs with feathers.

I don't know why this all started, I just want a dodo Pokemon. :p
