XY What new Types would you like to see in X and Y?

I think Light type would only work with bioluminescent pokemon. I made a quick list of possible pokemon for Light and Sound types:

. jellyfish
. squid
. moth
. firefly
. star
. alien
. sunflower or other type of flower
. angelic looking pokemon

A light type would probably work best with the many sea creatures that make their own light and odd psychic types.

. bat
. dolphin
. owl (certain kinds also use echolocation like bats and dolphins)
. banshee
. frogs
. howler monkey (loudest animal)
. whale (maybe an evolution for the dolphin)

There are actually plenty of pokemon that rely on sound and there are already plenty of moves that work well with it.

Light types would use moves like Hyper Beam, Solar Beam, and certain fire and electric type moves.
Sound types would use moves like Hyper Voice and Screech.

Bat and Dolphin should be sound. Both use a mechanism to get to their prey (or whatever they are looking for) making screeches to detect them. I do see your point on all that.

If this gen follows the 5th gen trend we will see a pie pokemon a cleaning sponge pokemon to challenge that trash pokemon from 5th gen. Okay never mind I just hope they make cool ones and not like some of the designs from 5th.

Or like in any of the other gens?...
gen 5 didn't do anything radical in terms of designs.

Id personally like if they continue having weird stuff too, that was an interesting part of pokemon from the beginning.

Not sure how pie would work, but sponge I could see as an ocean bottom poke lol

I hate that trash Pokemon, emphasis on hate. I also hated Muk honestly.
I'd actually like to see that mongoose that Gastly turned into in one if the early episodes become a Pokemon. Maybe it could be worked on to look more like a Mon?

There was a rumor that a 2chan user posted all this stuff about what the legendaries would be in 6th gen. and it mention two new types being Sound and Saint, with Xerneas being Steel/Saint. I won't look it into too much since there's no real backing to it, but I thought it was interesting that it mention a possible type that I've heard before.

He also posted this:

Ugh.

Pokemon like Muk and Trubbish are practically my only reason for playing, they're absolutely everything I love most, conceptually and esthetically. Why can't people lay off?

I don't complain about the dozens of foxes, dogs, cats, dragons and dinosaurs that I find utterly boring and often terrible looking, but heaven forbid they make one garbage monster - a classic monster type I always wanted in pokemon - and half the fandom heaps loathing on it constantly. Do you have any idea how tiresome that is? If you don't like something, nobody is forcing you to use it or even talk about it. The whole point of pokemon is diversity. To have scary ones, weird ones, cute ones, silly ones, pokemon for every possible taste.

And besides...

WHAT CAN ANYONE POSSIBLY HATE ABOUT THIS?

Maybe read my review of the garbage line, where I explain many reasons why it fits perfectly in the pokemon world and is, in fact, a well executed design with cultural significance to Japan and even biological believability.

Why WOULDN'T a pie or a sponge make fun pokemon? A balloon made a fun pokemon. Eggs made a fun pokemon. Magnets made a fun pokemon. A sponge is even an actual living organism. We already have a coral, we need a sponge pokemon sooner or later.

I absolutely look forward to sixth gen's object-based creatures more than anything else. They are always clever, iconic and interesting. They always improve the overall selection of pokemon with their bizarre and quirky presence.

It requires actual imagination and effort to turn an inanimate item into a monster. It requires relatively little effort to lift a creature from reality and draw it as a cartoon, like over half the more beloved pokes. Pokemon are, first and foremost, weird monsters. They don't need to all look like plain birds and lizards. :)

In my White game I use a team full of reptiles. In my Black team, I use mainly weird ones (Vanilluxe, Ferrothorn, Klinklang)...
Personally, my favorites are usually lizard/dragon/other-reptiles pokémon (but that's because I love real life reptiles and have a fascination for dragons), but I see nothing wrong with Pokémon like Muk or Garbodor... I find Trubbish and Garbodor very funny-looking...

Dark is called "evil" type in Japan, and has demon-themed pokemon in it already (Houndoom, Spiritomb) :p

I seriously think Fennekin's evolution should not be a Fire/fighting. But Sound, light, fairy and aura (for Lucario and Riolu respectively) types would be really cool.

I want to see a Steel/Ghost typing and am hoping they crank out a haunted suit of armour ( looks a little like Golurk but only shinier). Also bring out the Dragon/Poison type as I really think it would be badass. Poison/Psychic, some sort of psychic ninja who throws a dart at you? Another strong bug type to add to Scizor,Scyther, Heracross and Volcarona. Fighting/Flying as well, some sort of angel like creature.

A possible type, which i doubt we will be getting even if there was a new type, is space. It wouldn't really mess with many of the previous pokemon other than deoxys, palkia, reuniclus, and jirachi. That is definitely a plus. I can see poison being SE against it because of the theme of aliens not reacting well to an earthbound defense like poison. And besides, poison needs to be SE against something other than grass. It would definitely be an Over Powered type seen in mostly legendaries.

If could look forward to this type.

This is actually the single best reason I have ever heard for a new type to be weak to poison.

Why should there be a new type that only two Pokemon would get?

I appreciate that :)
Yeah, I wish there was an attack called corrosion, which only poison Pokemon could use, so metal Pokemon could be induced with poison.

Or an ability. I did a Rock/Poison fakemon once that had Corrosive Goo ability that could do that. Ferrothorn would finally have something to be scared of besides Fire.

Yeah, ferrathorn is definitely a pain if you don't run hp fire/fire move. But close combats from many things in OU will usually 2hko it.

Doesn't Psychic fill this role nicely...? 3 of the examples you gave are Psychic types.
Also, you missed Beeheeyem, one of the most obvious contenders for this 'Space' type. Again, it's a Psychic type.

Also, could any Light type enthusiasts tell me any defining features of a Light type that isn't done by the Electric, Psychic and Fighting types? I've yet to actually see any.

Also, why couldn't the type chart have some audjustments made to make the Poison and Ice types more viable; here are some suggestions.

Poison:
-Strong against Water
-Strong against Dark
-Take out Steel's immunity to it

Ice:
-Resistant to Dragon
-Strong against Steel (it does get brittle when cold)
-Resistant to Grass

Well if you have any of your own brilliant ideas for a type then please share, this is the thread for it. I mean who would have thought Pokemon would introduce a dark type in 2nd generation. I'm pretty sure a lot of people didn't see it coming, but because of there being a dark type many people will continue to believe there will be some counterpart for it (excluding fighting). I don't blame people for believing this. But what I do agree with you is poison could be SE against water. But if we go into your logic of things, then it would also be SE against anything organic including normal, fighting, and flying. As for my space type theory I believe the 3 pokemon as well as cress, lunatone, and solrock would be the only "space" pokemon. Slowbro, Alakazam, latios, latias, etc. wouldn't fit this theme. Then there is of course debateable pokemon like metagross and meloetta that people would be skeptical for not being space. Reguardless I feel the pokemon typing is fine where it is, but any new type would definitely change some pre-existing pokemon... obviously.

Uhh, Fighting is the counterpart for Dark types. Dark is all about favoring the night, and using cheap strategies-just look at some of the Dark moves: Thief (steals opponents held item), Sucker Punch (hits hard before the opponent can attack), and the most obvious one, Foul Play.

Also, 4 of your Space type examples are legendaries. I highly doubt they'd retype legendaries (especially Palkia, a box legendary and Deoxys+Jirachi, both event legendaries).

Also, on the Poison subject, I totally see where you're coming from about it being SE on anything organic, and it can be damaging to any type (excluding Steel), but not enough to be hugely damaging, and the Poison status does show that anything can be poisoned (again, excluding Steel).

Another thing, Pokemon types are elements (with the exception of Fighting, who specifically fight using martial arts and Dark, who specifically use cheap tactics). Space isn't really an element.

But to be honest, it's not just your 'Space' type that is covered by another type, a lot of newtypers say things like Light + Sound etc are possible, whilst its been established in the game that Sound based Pokemon are usually Normal type (with the exception of Kricketune), and Light typers think that Light is possible because Xerneas' horns glow in rainbow colors.
