Ruling Aerodactyl VS Rare Candy and Wally's Training

From the compendium: Q. Does Rare Candy override evolution-preventing effects such as Fossil Aerodactyl's "Prehistoric Power"? A. Yes, you can use Rare Candy when Aerodactyl's Prehistoric Power is in play. (Sep 18, 2003 PUI Rules Team; Jul 22, 2004 PUI Rules Team) [hr] Another ruling from the...

    Ruling Attacking from Bench?

The attacking Pokemon has to be the active Pokemon. You can't attack from the bench. 1) The effect of “Conversion 1” sticks indefinitely, but things like benching, evolving, etc. the affected pokemon will erase it. Otherwise it stays in place till it is knocked out. 2) It is not a bug, it is...

Ruling First Ticket vs New Rules

Awaiting TCPI's ruling. PokePop said two days ago that one will be forthcoming.

    Ruling Mew-ex G-booster/scope?

No, it cannot. It can only copy the move on the active pokemon itself, not any other moves that the active pokemon can just "use."

    Ruling determining who goes first

New Tournament Operations manuals are promised soon from Pokemon Organized Play, but until I hear any changes, I would go with the existing rules. "In best-of-three match play, after a game has been completed, the loser of that game decides who goes first in the next game instead of...

Ruling G-booster vs Crustle BCR 85

No, it would not be knocked out. There's been an official ruling on this. http://pokegym.net/forums/showthread.php?179543-G-booster-and-crustle

Ruling Gardevoir / Gallade Technical Question

RE: Gardevoir Gallade Technical question Yes, since it says 20x the amount of energy, and the basic psychic energies would supply two energies each per energy card. Note that the text of Powerful Storm says "energy" and not "energy card". If it had said "energy card", then Psychic Mirage would...

    Ruling Cofagrigus & Mr. Mime

    1. Yes, placing damage counters is not the same as damage from an attack. 2. Yes, you do take a prize card.

Ruling Playing Pokémon with PSA Cases

RE: Playing Pokemon with PSA cases Don't forget that by rule, "If a player’s cards are sleeved, the sleeves are considered to be part of the cards" so now any little nick or scratch in the acrylic card holder also can be considered a marked card situation. If I were a head judge at a tourney, I...

    Ruling Mew EX Versatile

RE: I can't find an answer to this anywhere else (Mew EX problems) Yes, it works this way. The only caveat I would add is it doesn't grant you access to attacks that don't actually appear on a Pokemon's card but can be used by that pokemon (G-Booster, things available via Celebi EX's Time...

    Ruling Another Mew ex problem

Well, they still claim it is a beta, I believe, so glitches are to be expected! I'm sure they appreciate people who take the time to report the bugs.

    Ruling Another Mew ex problem

Please place card scans. And yes, I agree that it sounds like a glitch. TCG Online is still pretty buggy in my experience although it is much nicer than it was just a couple of months ago. I once recently was in the middle of a game, it it randomly started a new game with another opponent right...

Ruling reverse edge vs. safeguard suicune

I suggest you delete your last post. Otherwise, how could you possibly show him this thread without causing a problem?

    Ruling Mewtwo EX

The judge was incorrect. There is a distinction between energy and energy card, which this judge did not recognize correctly. I'm sorry you had this experience.

Karate / Tae Kwan Doe / Other Martial Arts

RE: Karate/Tae Kwan Doe/Other Martial Arts I've been dealing with Achilles tendinitis for the better part of the year - keep those calves stretched, people!

Ruling Questions regarding abilities, trainers & energy cards.

    1. For Vanilluxe, it explicitly states "your opponent switches." For Pokemon Catcher, you do the switching. 2. Anything providing water energy powers up Hydro Pump. 3. You'd have to use something that has an effect that allows you to remove it, like Tool Scrapper for example...

    Ruling About grammar… again

One small clarification if you are playing unlimited since you seem to combine them above - poke-body and poke-powers are NOT considered abilities. So if a card like Garbodor that says cards have no abilities is played, that doesn't do anything to poke-body or poke-powers that appear on cards.

Ruling Blend Energy + Energy Rushing?

You are correct in that there is a distinction between (w) energy and (w) energy card. When it says "card" it means the basic energy card, and when it says (w) energy it refers to any card providing that type of energy.

    Raticate/Garbodor

The key phrase is "put damage counters". Placing damage counters is not the same thing as an attack causing damage.
